Fun tales, it's interesting to make the connections to other trickster tales. I could see shades of Coyote especially...I guess because everything involved shit. Interesting to see the Christianization and de-magickafying of the archetype as it progressed through Middle Ages and Rennaissance. I would have liked better commentary/foot-noting...the intro was over a 100 pages long, and all about nitty-gritty distinctions between editions and translations. I didn't bother after 10 pages or so. Some more general historical context would have been nice, or even connections to other medieval lit or mythology.
