Fujoshi Rumi #1

Otaku Girls, Tome 1

Rate this book

Being a yaoi fan, I could easily laugh along with this. Mainly because this type of otaku-dom is so extreme and hilarious at the same time. American girls can be yaoi otaku in the most annoying sense, but I find the creativity of yaoi fangirls in japan simply amazing what with the fact that they actually draw out their pairings, take their drawings to printers and have circles dedicated toward their obsessions with m/m love. I find the sub romance of the boy who loves her cute too.. even though she pairs him up with his best friend. Also the inclusion of the other fujoshi who is always trying to kiss/touch her adds to the 'yaoi fangirls are lesbian' trope which is also HILARIOUS.

I definitely want to read more of this series.

I enjoyed this manga quite a bit. I rarely laugh out loud and this book inspired me to do so at least twice. Takahiro Abe and Rumi Asai are very likable characters. I have one more volume; I wish I had more.

Four stars feels a bit high, but I was pretty hooked after a few pages and read the book start to end without getting bored, so three would just be too low. The story is interesting and real, though the writing and pacing is not perfect. Artwork and paneling are very good.

Loved this story. I know it is the first volume but it had me laughing out loud. This story is about Rumi Asai who loves to draw and has one wild imagination. She is a Yaoi Moe Otaku girl. She is caught up in the BL stories. Accidentally she is bumped by Takahiro , who she thinks is in a BL relationship with his best friend Shunsuke. Takahiro begins to like here and having to deal with her Otaku, and BL obsession is fun to watch. She tries to have him dress up, and get into strange positions so she can draw him. This volume had some really funny things happen in it. I would recommend this if you are looking for a good laugh but you should be 16 or older since it has some mature contents in it.

I read 4 chapters of this and had enough. I can see where I should think things are funny, and that there should be humor in this, but it just wasn't reaching me. It might have been that I just couldn't get in the right mood for this, but I'm calling it quits. The art was fine and I didn't read long enough to see if any drama happens, but it certainly wasn't gearing up for any anytime soon. I don't know, this one just wasn't for me.

Note: review is for the series up to where I've read (volume 3).

This manga is hilarious. I can't really believe anyone could be as dense as Rumi is when it comes to love, but she's still adorably endearing.

I wish they'd release past volume 3 in English...

This is a little strange but hilarious and an absolute joy to read. Why not buy it for the messed up yaoi fangirl in your like.
