This is a really great book. It is exhaustively researched and in my opinion, shows a factual and unbiased view of William Shatner’s personal and professional life. After reading some of the man’s obviously self-serving biographies, it’s nice to get a more objective viewpoint that sticks to actual facts.

Even before reading this, all evidence pointed toward Shatner being a textbook Narcissist. He’s incredibly self-centered, and apparently has no empathy for others. The events detailed in this book are surprising, but not all that surprising, really. It’s a shame that Captain Kirk is such an egotistical jerk in real life. Reading this book makes me realize that sometimes it’s better not to meet your heroes.

It is a great book about a man who has lived a very busy life. Action-packed, but also empty. The man is so driven that it is amazing, and he has accomplished a lot of things in his life. His work ethic is to be admired. But against the backdrop of that will be all the people he trashed and discarded along the way. Not the way I would want to be remembered, for sure.

An excellent book. Highly recommended!
