"He was beautiful. No, beautiful was not the word for it. He was godlike, breathtaking, astounding, life-changing. I had never seen a male specimen like this come through the door. He was golden..(..) taut, muscular ass..(..) a sculpted torso and he was tall, with wavy dark hair that framed a classically handsome face. Prominent jaw, and the kind of full, sensuous lips that made me think naughty thoughts. His eyes were set deep and communicated animal sexuality. Even the way he moved reeked of sex."
Mind you, the heroine is only describing a minor male character here.
So maybe you don't want to hand over your goodies on a silver platter just yet gurrrl!

I immediately realized that Comfort Object was a terrible mistake, but must admit that I was interested to find out what words the author would use to describe the actual male lead, considering that she already used up every imaginable superlative.
...turns out the male lead has a totally awesome big movie-star SUV. Which seems fitting, since he - oh boy! - actually is a big movie-star.
Okay, back to that godlike minor male character, to give you an idea of what Comfort Object is all about: He wanted sex, and Lord in heaven knew I wanted to give this man sex. All women should have given this man sex, and probably did. Any woman walking the planet would have given it up for this piece of maleness..
That's right. It's about sex, sex and sex!
The heroine, Nell, has been working in a fetish club (a dungeon, to be precise) for 5 years, when she suddenly finds herself without a job. Then said movie-star pops up and makes her an offer she simply can't refuse. So she agrees to act as his fake girlfriend for the paps and his fans, while in reality she will become his sub, needing to fulfill his every need. Basically, she's supposed to help him (and a friend or 2...or 3..) unwind after a hard days' work, because darn it, making big screen movies can be such a boring affair.
I'm afraid Comfort Object is equally boring. The author didn't waste time on silly things like creating two intriguing characters and an obsessive, sexual attraction between them. And why would she, if she could write about them fucking like rabbits for 239 entire pages instead? (The storyline basically revolves around Nell feeling either horny or sad and her dominant movie-star spanking, then fucking her *repeat chorus*).
If you're looking for a raunchy follow up on Fifty Shades of Grey with dozens of explicit bdsm themed sex scenes, a cantankerous Mr. Handsome and a doormattish heroine, then this one is absolutely worth a try. They'll probably end up falling in love as well.
Although I chose to stay blissfully unaware of this possible ending.

Jeremy will make her his personal assistant, his sex toy, his vanilla girlfriend for the outsiders, his comfort object.
The writing is awesome, but you may not like the characters. I am not sure I liked them, but I understand that people can operate in different worlds.

This is another one of those books that pushes the limits of what is believable when it comes to BDSM physical abuse and that is my biggest issue with this book. I just don't see the human body withstanding that kind of repeated, severe abuse without there being a lasting consequence.
Nell works as a professional sub at BDSM club. She gets a bizarre proposition from a stranger - one night for $2000, she accepts. The next day Nell is fired for fraternizing outside of the club and her life spirals down from there.
Nell meets Jeremy who has an offer she can't refuse. She is to be his public companion and his private sex partner (slave). She tells Jeremy that she isn't into pain. He says he likes that - then he proceeds to beat the crap out of her for the rest of the book.
Nell endures beyond what is believable. She doesn't like pain? I must be confused as to what pain is because what her backside takes on sounds a whole lot like pain to me. And not only does she endure it she grows to love her abuser because why? I don't know. I didn't feel much of a romantic bond growing there even when he is telling his side of the story. I spent the whole book hoping she would leave with Kyle.
I understand Jeremy being abusive. He doesn't know how to love and he is a spoiled movie star who has to care about no one but himself. He gets off on hurting Nell. He doesn't do it for her. He ratchets up his abuse when he realizes he loves her. Trying to drive her away so he doesn't have to face his feelings. To some extent I understand Nell taking it because she grows to have feelings for Jeremy but holy wow, there comes a point that it is beyond the bounds of reality. I couldn't accept her relationship with Jeremy ever. I found nothing beautiful about it - it was just disturbing.
The book ends on an up note but it still left me with a bitter taste. I like to read BDSM but that's not what this was. It was just abuse trying to pretend to be romance.

Not a long review as there are so many here already. I very much enjoyed this one – it’s definitely not for everyone but I, for one, couldn’t put it down.
Nell is a professional sub working in a BDSM club. Jeremy Gray, Hollywood movie star, decides he wants to employ her to pose as his vanilla girlfriend in public and be his submissive to play with in private. He goes about destroying her life, getting her sacked, getting her evicted to put her in a position where she has virtually no choices but to sign his lucrative sex contract and accompany him around the world on movie sets as his companion/sex slave.
So a rich man using his wealth and influence to manipulate a woman into signing a sex contract? Sounds rather like Fifty Shades right and his name is Gray, BUT this book was published 2 years before Fifty. Not saying anything, I know nothing is ever truly new, just pointing it out.
It has to be said that Jeremy is a Dick with a big old capital D for most of this book. He’s selfish, self-serving, demanding and Nell is an absolute doormat for him, allowing him everything in the contract and even allowing him past her hard limits just to please him. Despite all this, I really warmed to the pair of them and rooted for them to find their HEA despite a crazed stalker and I loved watching them fall in love, Jeremy denying and resisting it all the way and I loved the ‘revised’ contract at the end.
There is a whole lot of sex in this one, some m/f/m and a 2 couple ménage scene, lots of domination and submission, toys and back door loving.

My dear friend Alma hated Jeremy Grey, before she fell in love with him. I didn't fall in love with him. He's a stalking psycho. What he did to Nell was totally reprehensible. Yet another anti-hero Ms. Joseph creates whom we are supposed to love and forgive his numerous flaws. I lost count of how many f-ed up things he did to Nell. I think it would have been justice for Nell to die due to his selfish and stupid actions.
It's not that I hated Jeremy, it's more that I couldn't love him. His brand of pain he doles out is mostly psychological because he can't be true to himself. This is a problem for me, not the physical punishments. He can't make up his mind - cherish her, treat her like shit, love her, make her feel worthless. This seems to be a trademark for Ms. Joseph and I'm not sure I really enjoy this type of dynamic between the main characters. I still enjoyed the BDSM aspect. The story kept my interest, but mostly because I wanted to see just how much Jeremy could damage Nell. He did a damn good job. If I had been Nell, I'd have gutted him with a dull rusty spoon.

I’m in love with Jeremy Gray, the unlovable, kinky, unapologetic pervert. There is plenty of psychological plot to reassure you that you aren’t reading out-and-out porn, but let this be a warning: This erotica novel holds nothing back. Lots of paddled flesh, biting clamps, humiliation, swinging friends, and stretched orifices. And wholelotta tears.
Normally, a sobbing heroine chases me far far away, but the story and the writing are Bea-U-tiful! Nell might cry a lot but her inner strength and heroic decisions are endearing till the end. Jeremy’s outward coldness is as devastating and confusing as his inward narrow-mindedness, but this only intensifies the breathless struggle between the H/h.
If you’re looking for the common, benevolent alpha hero, keep looking. But if you want a painful (Ow, shit, that effing hurts!) romance with a hard-earned and viciously tender conclusion, you’ve found your comfort object.

I've read a lot of BDSM books, but rarely have I read a book where I wanted the male protagonist to just up and die. And I've rarely read a weaker or more sniveling female protagonist.
Sure, there are all kinds of D/s relationships, but never have I read one this messy or this out of control. Never have I been so pissed off with the heroine like I was with Nell. Never have I wanted a hero to go kill himself like I did Jeremy.
First of all, I rarely flounce when it comes to books, I always have this nagging voice at the back of my mind that I should finish a book. It's why my "currently reading" list is so long. It's hard for me to just give up.
This book I wanted to give up on many, many times. Voyeurism/exhibitionism aren't my thing, and in my opinion, there was too much of that. But what really got me pissed off, is that Nell (I won't demean her more by calling her a sub, she wasn't a sub, she was the lowest of the lowest to Jeremy) was always feeling so shitty about herself. If she ever had an up day, Jeremy was there to bring her right back down again.
From what I know about D/s, being the sub is always about actually being the one in power. Apparently Nell had such power, but Jeremy was so nifty, he even took that away from her. No, Nell was reduced to always feeling miserable about herself. She had this crazy Stockholm syndrome thing going on where she fell in love with her abuser. Because that's how I see Jeremy. As an abuser, and not a Dom. He was too much into mind-games to be anything but an abuser. He was masochistic and a mean asshole.
Nell had a hard limit when it came to canes, but what does this asshole do? He convinces her to take the cane and proceeds to beat her up. He actually does a helluva lot of "punishing" to Nell. Much more so that anyone would deem appropriate in a D/s relationship.
Upon entering contract, he promises to never, ever punish her in anger. That's a hard limit for both parties. But what does he do? He takes his anger out on her with a crazy beating. The only thing missing is a broken arm and swollen shut eyes. This is abuse. And this is why I ended up hating Jeremy so much.
How these two end up "in love" and decide to get married is beyond me. He's nothing but an abusive bastard hiding behind the Dom label. If I ever stumbled upon a guy like this, I'd end up killing him.
I just wish the author had made the characters stronger.

This was my first Annabel Joseph novel and I thought it was fantastic! I thought the way their relationship began was most unique--great ramp up to a wonderful story. I loved the relationship that developed between Nell and Jeremy. I loved the stumbles they experienced along the way--as many couples experience, theirs just wasn't the traditional kind of stumbles.
I will definitely be reading more by this author. I just hope they are as intriguing and hot!

Overall by the end I liked the story, but...some of the plot and characters made me fume.
Jeremy has seen and taken a fancy to Nell, so with and through his PA, Kyle, research BDSM club professional submissive, Nell, then put her in impossible situations to destroy her job, tenancy and hopes for her future. This is Jeremy Gray, famous actor, insecure person, louse, spoiled brat, scared to commit to any but himself...oh I disliked him and also Kyle to start. Then they offer Nell a closely worded and binding contract, drawn up by lawyer Martin, that virtually ties her into a role that includes sexual toy for anything Jeremy and his kink desires, however, this tempting offer would also allow her to achieve her academic ambition and independence back some time in her future.
Why do I see Pretty Woman characters here. The slime ball lawyer came to mind, and also I have Richard Gere in the role of Jeremy...no idea why as he doesn't fit character at all. I also hated that Nell was just handed over to Martin for use too, as the clause in the contract covers all things sexual and perverse too.
I hated what they did to Nell. That he pushed her to give on her hard limit too. Take, take, take...I wanted to smack him one. Nell, tricked, used and abused, so nice and loyal too, and plays the role of submissive to start but isn't really a natural one...yet by the end all changed.
Clever Annabel Joseph, as she had through the psychology, their roles in life, situations and financial acumen created characters and lifestyle that probably exist...and no I don't envy them at all, but pity them, having to live amongst the shallow hero worship of celebrity status and paparazzi searching and documenting their existence moment by moment...awful. Then by the end why am I rooting for them, saying come on Jeremy don't let your fears and insecurities lose her. Come on Nell, help him and yourself. So I have a complete change of heart. A hate to love relationship with what I have read.
One other thing has me curious, this was written and published before Fifty Shades of Gray, has male lead character named Gray, and to me and I may be wrong here but I get the impression E.L.James may have been influenced by this story, hmmm, certainly food for thought. However, Annabel is definitely the better writer in my opinion.

A bdsm contractual and complicated relationship between Jeremy Gray (Sir) and Nell (Sub).
I really struggled with rating this one..it was like I had a balance sheet and I wud say: Oh yes, I really liked this, and that and when they did that one...but then he did this and that..and oh no THAT! If Jeremy was a snake, he was also a rabbit's foot because he had so much luck and good fortune, I wanted to capture it, bottle it up, and sell it...just HOW could he walk all over everybody else, push people so far and away and still have 'em come back for more? I'm calling it the Jeremy Juju.
Really, this book should be renamed Jeremy's Comfort (ha!). I’ve had my eye on this book for ages, but for some reason I finally decided to read it. This story had me wrapped around its finger. I was so absorbed in this story; the whole world around me complete disappeared. I kid you not. Yes, the premise of the book is completely unrealistic, but who gives a fuck, right? lol. I mean, isn’t that why we read? To get away and fantasize? Oh yea. This had kinky fantasy written all over it and I just loved it.
The applicant understands that she will act as submissive and/or sexual slave to give comfort and relaxation in private, and function as a loving and affectionate girlfriend in public, and under no circumstances will behave in any way that exhibits or suggests her submissive status in public.
Nell is a professional submissive. She earns good money and loves the work. One day, a very gorgeous man employs her for her services, but unfortunately club rules prohibit any fluid exchange with the staff. So what does Mr. Gorgeous do? Let me start by saying that when I review books I always try to keep in mind the hours (and hours!) of effort that it takes to write them. Because of this, I do my best to be constructive in my criticism and praise an author’s skill where it is due. It’s a very rare thing for me to come across a book that I feel has no redeeming qualities at all. Sadly, Comfort Object by Annabel Joseph is that rare example.
The central female character in the book (I can’t even bring myself to use the term “heroine” in relation to her) is Nell Ashton, a Harvard drop out and professional submissive. She’s got a dad in jail, a suicidal mom, and a bunch of idiot siblings. Daddy issues? Check. Screwed up childhood? Check. Oh! And she’s only a professional submissive so that she can save up some money to go back to college and finish her comparative cultural mythology degree - a revelation that had me rolling my eyes and thinking, “Yeah, her and every other stripper in L.A.” I suppose that the one positive I can say about Nell is that she is an unapologetically sexual being; she likes it rough, she likes it dirty, and she likes it often. I can appreciate a character that is tapped into her wants and needs, and not afraid to admit to them or to act on them. Doesn’t mean I like her, though.
I can’t deny that there was definitely sexual chemistry between the two main characters and Jeremy was pretty creative in his scenes and punishments, but that alone isn’t enough to make for a good story in my opinion. The book just didn’t have the level of genuine caring between the characters that I prefer when reading about them doing deliciously naughty things to one another. Without the emotional connection, some of the scenes and ALL of the name calling (worthy of the most extreme BDSM porn), made me feel sordid and sleazy after reading them.
In addition to the novel’s premise and both of the central characters, I also didn’t like Ms. Joseph’s casual, conversational writing style (I realize I might be in the minority with this critique, but it’s a personal preference). I found the unnecessary quotation marks irritating (like she was going to have a glossary of terms at the end of the book), and the frequent sentence fragments made the book feel like a stream of consciousness exercise on speed.
Verdict: To put it mildly, I wish I could un-read this one. Save yourself the trouble and skip it.

One of my favorite erotic books of the year- This book took me by storm!
If you look for a theme in my reviews, you will recognize I am all about well developed, interesting characters and Comfort Object has that in spades. Jeremy is dark and jaded by his Hollywood experiences. He is used to buying himself some modicum of happiness, all the while steeling his heart for the inevitable disappointment that invariably rules his so called ‘picture perfect life’. An innate Dominant, he uses his BDSM lifestyle as a release for the pressure his high profile life puts on him. As a new movie begins to film, Jeremy sends his assistant, Kyle, out once again to find the perfect sub to help him through filming. Kyle discovers Nell working as a professional submissive at an LA BDSM club. Through some cleverly written twists and turns, Jeremy ends up offering Nell a professional contract for her services.
Nell finds Jeremy overbearing and manipulative, but he just might hold the key to achieving her biggest dream, financing a college degree. She never imagines that he holds the key to her inner sub’s unmet needs.
I enjoyed unwrapping both characters as I turned the page. Jeremy is a raw, hard dominant clearly experienced in the lifestyle and reading subs. To the outsider he may seem on the abusive side, as if he is only meeting his own selfish needs, but if you really pay attention, he is pushing Nell just as all subs craved to be pushed. She has a safe word and she chooses not to use it because she needs the extra edge. For the first time in her life she finds her barriers falling down. I love to watch barriers fall down! The book is definitely hawt and sexy filled with a kaleidoscope of sexual encounters (can you say yummy ménage?), but in comparison to other BDSM stories I am going to say the level of darkness sits on the medium side. It wasn’t terribly uncomfortable to read, but I flinched more than once for Nell and found myself unconsciously rubbing my backside.
The pacing was quick and the tension perfectly thick. As the war within me raged between wanting Nell to leave his jerky butt and stay and heal them both, a side stalker storyline kept me further on edge. Nothing like a crazed wacko with no use for safe words to build suspense.
I finished the book with a clear sense of satisfaction and went straight to my Kindle home page and downloaded everything Annabel Joseph has written. I just love discovering a new author who lights my fire. Enjoy!

This is a BDSM, erotic romance. This is my first book of Ms. Joseph but it definitely won't be the last.
On the positive side is almost everything about this book. The heroes are powerful and unique. The plot is surprising. The intimate moments among the heroes are fantastic. There is a bit of mystery in the story that keeps everything intense. I really enjoyed this book.
On the negative side it's this particular scene that for me crossed the line between fun and disrespect. That's also the reason that the book didn't take 5 stars. If you want to know about this scene, PM me.
There are a couple more books in this series but this and the other books can be read as stand-alone since the heroes are changing.

This novel is an abuse apologist narrative. It depicts an abusive D/s relationship as both hot and romantic. The following discusses some of the details of that, and therefore needs both a trigger warning and a spoiler warning.
The relationship is overtly coercive from the start; she does not want to enter into it, but is coerced into it by him getting her fired and evicted. The dominant’s carelessness about the submissive’s safety and well-being is a constant aspect of the story. The scene where he burns the things that she holds most precious and that represent her independence and sense of self and characterizes it as part of his dominance is one of many terrible abusive moments in the story, as is his repeated violation of her hard limits. All these things are characterized as intensely romantic.
The book includes very strong strands of intense misogyny and whorephobia threaded throughout. Some of that is depicted as a desired part of their D/s but it was so unclear what was consensual and desired that for the most part the misogyny and whorephobia felt real and central to the abusive dynamic, and not part of kinky consensual sex.
I do not recommend this book. I would say that if you wanted to reality check about abusive D/s dynamics and how they feel, it is a decent primer for that, but I think the book’s apologist romantic presentation of that kind of dynamic would probably cloud things.

3,5 STARS!
After some review 'claimed' somehow Comfort Object like FSOG, I don't think so. Maybe the last name is very common. This book was 2 years before FSOG. Sadly, Comfort Object is not my favorite but still enjoyed it.
Nell is a professional and experience submissive before she 'kicked' out from the club where she has worked for five years. In the needs of money, she works as a waitress in a restaurant when the famous actor, Jeremy Gray offer her a job. To be his assistant for any needs especially his kink. She doesn't accept easily and he doesn't give up. The money is what she needs, after all.
See? This is far different from FSOG. Nell has experience as a submissive in the club but never in the real life. She has but it doesn't work for her. When Jeremy offer her the job, she's reluctant but intrigued. Jeremy is a smooth talker and gentleman who melted her body. I really liked Jeremy when act like that. What I don't like is when Jeremy is in Dom mode, he is become 'abusive' and ignorant bastard. He pushed Nell's limit with ugly threat. He's like having two sides and that's what frustrated me. He's selfish, egoist, and didn't care about her opinion.
Nell isn't strong person either. She's very emotional and cried easily especially when with Jeremy. Yeah, I know that man confused me too. She is really a good person who just wants to be happy. Their BDSM relationship only based on NDA. Jeremy is a difficult man who always ignore his feeling. Obviously, he cared about her and fallen for her. Luckily, our Nell is very patient and too resilient to ignore use safe word when Jeremy's become more aggressive. And they rarely talked after their demanding, intense and painful 'scene' #faceplam
After so much sex and punishment between countries, they develop more feelings towards each other. Jeremy become more agitate and still arrogant as always. Poor Nell has to endure Jeremy's mood swings. The story was told from Nell and Jeremy, but the issue is there is no indication who's talking. Somehow it's confusing. It has slow paced about 50% of the story, almost bore me with their vague BDSM relationship. Comfort Object is harder than Mercy because Jeremy didn't act like a Dom. Based on the title, Nell is a Comfort Object for Jeremy so as an object she couldn't have feeling? *shrugs*
Aside from my issues, the story has premise and it was quite good. I don't particularly liked it, but I don't hate it either so I still could give 3.5 stars. The story has good ending with HEA for Jeremy and Nell. Comfort Object is an unusual not-your-kind-of-romantic story with so much kinky shit and anal sex. After some review 'claimed' somehow Comfort Object like FSOG, I don't think so. Maybe the last name is very common. This book was 2 years before FSOG. Sadly, Comfort Object is not my favorite but still enjoyed it.
Nell is a professional and experience submissive before she 'kicked' out from the club where she has worked for five years. In the needs of money, she works as a waitress in a restaurant when the famous actor, Jeremy Gray offer her a job. To be his assistant for any needs especially his kink. She doesn't accept easily and he doesn't give up. The money is what she needs, after all.
See? This is far different from FSOG. Nell has experience as a submissive in the club but never in the real life. She has but it doesn't work for her. When Jeremy offer her the job, she's reluctant but intrigued. Jeremy is a smooth talker and gentleman who melted her body. I really liked Jeremy when act like that. What I don't like is when Jeremy is in Dom mode, he is become 'abusive' and ignorant bastard. He pushed Nell's limit with ugly threat. He's like having two sides and that's what frustrated me. He's selfish, egoist, and didn't care about her opinion.

Nell isn't strong person either. She's very emotional and cried easily especially when with Jeremy. Yeah, I know that man confused me too. She is really a good person who just wants to be happy. Luckily, our Nell is very patient and too resilient to ignore use safe word when Jeremy's become more aggressive. And they rarely talked after their demanding, intense and painful 'scene' #faceplam
We fit so perfectly when I took her this way, held close, her legs wrapped around me, her arms clinging to my neck. She may have only been mine because I was paying her, but at times like this, I thought I would never, ever let her go, if I had to pay her for an eternity.
After so much sex and punishment between countries, they develop more feelings towards each other. Jeremy become more agitate and still arrogant as always. Poor Nell has to endure Jeremy's mood swings. The story was told from Nell and Jeremy, but the issue is there is no indication who's talking. Somehow it's confusing. It has slow paced about 50% of the story, almost bore me with their vague BDSM relationship. Comfort Object is harder than Mercy because Jeremy didn't act like a Dom. Based on the title, Nell is a Comfort Object for Jeremy so as an object she couldn't have feeling? *shrugs*
Aside from my issues, the story has premise and it was quite good. I don't particularly liked it, but I don't hate it either so I still could give 3.5 stars. The story has good ending with HEA for Jeremy and Nell. Comfort Object is an unusual not-your-kind-of-romantic story with so much kinky shit and anal sex. I hated your guts!
I hated you until…until you got a voice and you told us your version of the story. And I saw it from your POV. And I was hurting for you! And I loved you! I craved you! I forgave you that you were a Sadist, a f***** SOB that I wanted to use the very same cane on, a prick who reminded Nell she was just a commodity you paid for and what a Jeremy Gray pays for he owns and he can bloody do what he pleases! And I admired Nell, because there’s no money on Earth that would make me put up with what she had to go through. I would’ve chosen illiteracy over that humiliation and objectification.
It was a low punch when I read the contract you had Martin set up. You were not a man, you were a monster in my eyes. I wondered what the difference between you and any other molester was. You used your kinky lifestyle to justify your moves!!!
Was it easier for you to (pretend to) be detached? Everything is business for you?
But you’re not THAT a good actor to hide yourself. Just like any other human being, you crave being loved and cared for. Admit it: you’re a human being and it will be easier for all involved. I know that loving someone makes us vulnerable, but when you open your eyes and your heart you realize that they have loved you in spite of everything you did to make them go away.
I’m happy for your and Nell’s HEA.
But one more thing before I go: I wish you luck and endurance and to keep control over your emotions Jeremy Grey, because I know that Rhiannon will be faith’s pay back for all the shit you did in your life. Maybe no one will use a cane on you, or a toy or clamps, but seeing you territorial and overprotective and fearing for the ones you adore will be a big satisfaction… I am being a Sadist now? I'm still somewhat conflicted about Comfort Object, and my 3 star rating reflects that.
On one hand, I really enjoyed the quality of the writing, the character development, and the tight pacing. I was really impressed with Nell's strength and character. There were a couple of times when I thought she should leave Jeremy, but Nell stuck to her guns.
On the other hand, I disliked Jeremy and his methods to get what he wanted; I think the businesslike relationship was probably the source of most of my discomfort. While I enjoyed the physical torment, some of the psychological insensitivity was a bit much for me.
Comfort Object was an intense story, and one I'll probably enjoy more on a re-read. This has to be one of the most erotic books I've read in quite a while, and I appreciated Annabel Joseph's fresh voice. I haven't read her before, and I'll most likely look for some of her other books.

So, this book got a ton of positive responses which drew me in to give it a try. I was excited to begin this read and I will admit that in the beginning was a bit of a roller coaster. Early on I was intrigued, then a little out of sorts with the Kyle character and his purpose, but then when Jeremy arrives on the scene was captured into this premise once again.
Unfortunately, it didn't do much for me after that.

I tried this cuz someone thought that people who liked Fifty Shades of Grey would like this but I didn't end up liking it. It wasnt the kinkiness that turned me off, it was the degree to which the guy wanted/did cause the girl pain. Both in and out of the bedroom. He was a true sadist. And I'm not judging that lifestyle, it's just not something I can appreciate in books. I mean, he really did fall in love with her and all, but he still beat her a$$ soundly too much for my comfort level. I didn't like how he used her body and freely let others use it. A three-some or 4/5/whatever-some is fine so long as its what everyone wants. But he went too far IMO with just letting random people f*ck her.
And I didn't have that heart-racing thing happen when u fall in love with characters happen with this. Just not for me I guess. Fifty Shades is probably my fav book ever but I guess it was because the characters are so deep in it. I can accept any amount of kink if I connect with the characters and I just wasn't feeling it here.

This was a book that once I started I couldn't seem to put it down. It had my emotions going all over the place; which in my opinion is a darn good book!!
It begins with Nell working at a BDSM club and then gets an offer from a man that she doesn't refuse.. It is against club rules to meet anyone outside of the club but Nell does it anyways as she is offered a lot of cash and the man that is asking is very easy on the eyes. Circumstances take place that night and reality kicks in the next day when she loses her job.
Long story short, she becomes connected to a movie star named Jeremy who throughout the book I grew to love and hate him. They enter into a business relationship that requires Nell to be available to Jeremy's every desire and whim.She is there to be his "Comfort Object". During Nell's time with Jeremy,they lead a very rocky and at times an unemotional relationship.
Some of the stuff that Jeremy did to Nell , I wasn't impressed...and yet soon after he would do something to redeem himself. This turned out to be a real roller coaster ride of a read for me and I look forward to the next book in the series!

I’ve had a really difficult time trying to figure out what I want to say in this review. You can see from the rating that I thought this book was excellent. Every Annabel Joseph’s book I have read has been so well-written and engaging.
The character development is outstanding. I can see some readers would think Nell is a weak heroine with regard to some of her choices, but they aren’t really looking at her. They are looking at themselves and imagining what they’d do in a similar situation. She makes different choices than what most people…or at least most women…would likely make, but those choices are based upon her belief system and require a strength of conviction that most of us wouldn’t choose to have.
The only reason I mention this is because this is a very intelligently written book, as are all Annabel Joseph books that I’ve had the privilege of reading. Look past that first layer for more than a surface plot that you get in many erotic romances today.
Every word adds layers to the characters. There are no superfluous words. Everything means something and will take you deeper into the lives of these characters.
The sex and BDSM scenes are outrageously hot and you’ll feel as if you’re in the room with these characters. The BDSM in this story is meant for readers of BDSM books. It’s most likely not a good starter book…or anywhere close to that really. What it is, though, is clever and fresh.
I highly recommend this story to readers of BDSM that enjoy reading intelligent works of art, because that’s what this is. It’s a tale woven with meaning from beginning to end and I, for one, enjoyed it immensely.

Be prepared for extreme arousal!!! As far as sex scenes go, this book seems to cover them all with taste!!! I love the way the author actually spells out the entire sex scenes with great detail! You can actually feel the anticipation, fear, arousal & so much more!!! I know some people can't handle reading with the characters using the word or whore, but call me dirty, I didn't mind it one bit as long as it stays in the bedroom!!! I'm also one for dirty talk during sex & I got plenty of that from Jeremy!!!

This is my first Annabel Joseph book. And I must say it sure in the hell will not be the last. I can not wait to devour all of her books.

Struggling to make ends met, losing everything around her finds her self homeless because of Mr. Gorgeous movie star Jeremy Gray. Jeremy wants Nell to be his fake girlfriend in the public eye. But also his sex slave in private.
I thought it was all to much. Too much warmth, too much confusion, too much pain, too much pleasure, too much joy. Too much fear of living life with him, too much devastation. If he were to send me away. Too much of his cock, and never enough. Too many feelings that I couldn't come to terms with. Too many tears and too much pain. Too much risk. Too many floors up, and way too far to fall.

Although there were that made me uncomfortable to read, I was intrigued by the story and how it would turn out. There is really not much likeable about Jeremy, he is a jerk through and through but every so often you see a speck of vulnerability that makes you kind of reassess your thoughts about him. Not sure if I liked this or not, I have mixed feelings on this one.

I liked this one more than I thought I would. If it hadn’t dragged a little at the end, I probably would’ve rounded up to five stars. Yes, the BDSM wasn’t light, but it also wasn’t as intense as I was expecting. Yes, there was a lot of sharing and swapping and group sex, but I’ve been desensitized to that, especially when all parties are into it. Yes, Jeremy was a sadist, as well as often cold and unrepentant, but he wasn’t a dick just for the fun of it. He was just the kind of guy to go after what he wanted, and I can respect that more than someone that is mean-spirited. Honestly, Jeremy really did it for me. It was Nell that I couldn’t always handle; she was a little too whiny and indecisive. Still, I liked that she had some fire to her, and I think Jeremy did too. All in all, I really enjoyed this read & can’t wait to cross more books from this author off my TBR.

I have read a lot of BDSM books lately. This one is my least favorite by far. Even books about clear S/M aren't as disturbing as the dynamic between the main characters. I read the whole book, but I was uncomfortable and not in a good way all through it. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I don't say this lightly, because I truly respect the time, effort and creativity that an author puts into his/her work. But this book is one I will never recommend.
