A Time of Demons

Rate this book
Since Cassandra Graystone was a child and her family perished in a fire she knows and sees things other people don't...when someone will die or that a demon lurks beneath a human skin. She sees phantoms. Yet she craves a simple life singing out with her musician brother, Johnny, and caring for her elderly aunt and uncle; to be with her friends, Sarah, a psychic, and Walter, a clown in a carnival circuit. But when Sarah sees apocalyptic events in her tarot cards and demons are everywhere, Cassandra fears she's going insane or something terrifying is happening in the world. Rayner, an ancient blood demon, lodges next door. He becomes obsessed with her. Never having felt pity or affection for a human before he believes he loves her, would die to protect her. The demon realm gathers for the final confrontation between us, Rayner warns. The apocalypse comes. You and your friends must prepare. Cassandra flees that knowledge until an angelic being, Manasseh, appears. Your powers will grow. You must fight for humanity's survival after the first wave is taken. Seek out others like you. Persuade them to join the battle. Only these can see and challenge the demons until the end when all eyes see them. She doesn't want her life to change; doesn't want to be a nomad who battles demons. Doesn't want to be anyone's protector. Until a tornado flattens Sarah's house. Johnny's apartment. There are monsters maiming and killing everywhere. Demons persecute her and those she loves, burn down her home and force her family and friends onto the road, as everywhere cataclysmic weather and signs of the end days make things hellish for humans. Cassandra and her friends can no longer deny their destinies. They must fight...or see the remnants of humanity engulfed in flames.

About Kathryn Meyer Griffith 2023
Since childhood I’ve been an artist, and have worked as a graphic designer in the corporate world and for newspapers for twenty-three years before I quit to write full time. But I’d already begun writing novels at 21, over fifty-one years ago now, and have had thirty-five (romantic horror, horror novels, romantic SF horror, romantic suspense, romantic time travel, historical romance, thrillers, one non-fiction short story collection, dinosaur books, and murder mysteries) previous novels and thirteen short stories published from various traditional publishers since 1984. But I’ve gone into self-publishing in a big way since 2012; and upon getting all my previous books’ full rights back for the first time in 36 years, have self-published all of them. My seven Dinosaur Lake novels and Spookie Town Murder Mysteries (Scraps of Paper, All Things Slip Away, Ghosts Beneath Us, Witches Among Us, What Lies Beneath the Graves, All Those Who Came Before, When the Fireflies Returned, and Echoes of Other Times) are my best-sellers.
I was married to Russell for over forty-three years; have a son, two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. I live in a small quaint town in Illinois. I have a quirky cat, Sasha, and we live happily in an old house in the heart of town. Though I’ve been an artist, and a folk/classic rock singer in my youth with my late brother Jim, writing has always been my greatest passion, my butterfly stage, and I’ll probably write stories until the day I die…or until my memory goes.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith is a well accomplished author who's work has spanned across decades. She specializes in witches, demons, and vampires - Well, all things dark and deliciously evil.

The main character 'Cassandra Graystone' see's phantoms, she can feel good or evil in a person and can predict when someone will die. It all started when she was very young with the traumatizing event of her family who died in a fire.
A Demon who lives close by is obsessed with Cassandra and although he has never felt emotion before, he will do everything in his power to protect her - He believes he loves her.
When a tornado reeks havoc on her home and destroys it, she is no longer safe. Monsters are everywhere now, murdering anyone whom comes in to contact with them - mayhem and panic follows pursuit.

I think 'A Time of Demons' is wonderfully written, very suggestive without saying too much. This is the way books are supposed to be spun, with shadows lurking behind every corner (so to speak) but yet you never quite see them. A fight for true imaginative bliss turns weaved events as the author invites us into an attraction that maims love with suggestive superior fear throughout the pages of sustenance. It sustains a rich dialogue of an engaging intrigue with complex characters to boot. Well worth the read.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The blurb pretty much sums up the story so I'll go straight on to the review.

Character wise, I really liked Cassandra. Apart from Johnny, she lost most of her family to a fire and since then can see weird stuff. She sees horrible things under peoples faces and she can also see when someone will die. She only recently realised that what she is seeing are Demons. Despite how scary it is for her, she is such a brave, no nonsense girl. She is terrified of what she sees but her thoughts are with her Uncle, Aunt, Brother and Best Friend. She always puts them first.

Sarah is a physic and Cassandras best friend. She reads cards and lately the cards are pointing towards a cataclysmic event and Sarah doesn't know what to do. She keeps warning Cassandra but Cassie keeps playing it off. She stands by Cassandra no matter what and I loved their friendship. I also loved the introduction to Walter, Sarahs' boyfriend and another person that can see the Demons for what they are.

Raynor is a Demon, and I loved the fact we got to see parts from his point of view. He was definitely interesting and I can't wait to find out what happens next for him.

Plot wise, I also really enjoyed it. We all know of the end days, but what happens when it actually is coming!! Cassandra is one chosen by God to lead others like her in the battle of all battles. At the moment she has to deal with a series of cataclysmic events and demons trying to kill her. Will she be tough enough to lead an army against the horde of Demons that are coming!!

This book isn't the most action packed book, don't get me wrong it has pleanty of action, its more of a character driven story. I loved how three dimensional her characters are and how much they grow throughout the story. We see the story through multiple point of views, which I liked and we meet many wonderful characters.

Anyway, Kathryn Meyers Griffith can definitely tell you a story. Her writing is rich in detail which helps to draw you in. She definitely put a lot of thought and energy into this book and it shows. I can't wait for book 2 to see what happens the gang!

I listened to the audio of this and the narrator, Wendy Tremont King did an awesome job. Her tone and her use of different voices and accents was so well done. The book is quite long but Wendy makes it feel so much shorter. She added that much extra to the story and I'll definitely check out more read by her. Overall, it's a great book to listen to and I can't wait to check out more from Kathryn.

"One of the few 5 star ratings I have given a book."

Where does A Time of Demons rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Well as you can tell from my ratings I loved this book. I have to say it is probably the best book I have listened to in some time. I loved that the characters were reluctant to embrace their specialness, especially Cassie,

Then there is Rainer, a demon who wants to be dominant in the world but doesn't necessarily want to destroy the humans because he knows that this would ultimately mean the end of the demons as well since they depend on the humans for their food supply. To top it off he is obsessed with Cassie and keeps doing things to help her and her family and friends to keep them safe so that Cassie will like him. Not a very demony thing to do.

What other book might you compare A Time of Demons to and why?

I can't really compare it to any other book because I have not read another book like this one that I can recall. Sure other books have demons in them, but this one is filled with the legions of hell bent on taking over the world and bringing about the finally battle between the forces of good and evil. Problems is, most of the demons don't believe in angels, God, heaven or hell or Satan. They think the final battle will be between them and the humans and that they will win and overwhelmingly decisive victory.

Which scene was your favorite?

I am a big fan of a good fight scene so my favorite is the battle between the demons, Cassie and her crew and the angels right before the rapture occurs. IT was EPIC!!!!. Legions of demons attack Cassie, Walter, Sarah, Johnny, et al in an effort to destroy them because of all the trouble they causing with their demon killing. But when the angels step in to help destroy the demons and bring about the rapture and the beginning of the end times a massacre ensues.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The End Is Near!!!

Any additional comments?

This book has a conclusion, which I like, but also leaves open the possibility for a sequel that occurs during the years of tribulation. However, I spoke with the author via Goodreads and she said that while a sequel is planned it is not currently in the works so I guess we will just have to wait to see what happens until later. I, for one, will most definitely be reading the sequel if and when it ever does come about.

It took me quite a while to get through this one because the content was heavy. The narrator did such a great job that I was drawn in and caught up with the events. The story started quite slowly as characters and background were set up. Then it was full speed ahead and the suspense didn’t let go until the end. The story depicts a woman, Cassandra, who is set on a journey for God. Along the way there are demons, disasters, disappearances. Think the Apocolypse. Think good vs evil. SCARY!!!!! Excellent writing. Excellent performance. Recommended for those who want to reflect further on the events of the Book of Revelations.

A time of Demons by Kathryn Meyer Griffith has a wicked cover. It gives me a feeling of impending doom. This is Book I of the Before The End Series and after reading this, I cringe at the thought of what lies ahead. This paranormal suspense novel had me, not just rooting for the gang, but rooting for one specific demon too. I want to know so much more about him, about Rayner.

Cassandra and Johnny made their way through life by singing in bars. Sometimes you just have to make do. Her gift appeared after she was burned in the fire that killed her family, but she still had her brother, Johnny. She now lives in the upstairs of her Aunt Ellie and Uncle George’s duplex. Johnny insists on living alone.

She sees death and so much more.

Don’t even tell them what you see. Don’t ever tell them anything. Oh she’d learned.

Rayner is a blood demon, though most would call him a vampire. He didn’t know why his victims were suddenly haunting him and he hated it. He felt something big was coming.

Mannasseh watched out for the girl. She didn’t know her destiny. Cassandra had a vital part to play in the upcoming battle, the beginning of the end.

Rayner had been watching Cassandra and, literally, bumped into her. She was different. She could see him. How is that possible? He wanted learn more about her. I have a feeling about her and Rayner. Not sure what can become of that, but I am very curious.

The demons cloaked themselves in invisibility and were growing in number. They were arsonists, wife beaters, murderers, doing all they can to create discord and disaster. The demons had been discreet, but were getting bolder by the minute.

Cassandra was confused by her powers. The more they developed, the more she saw and the harder she tried to shrug it off.

Sarah, her best friend, is a psychic and reads Tarot cards and palms. She believes in magic and all the hocus pocus of the Gypsy fortune tellers. She felt terrible trouble was coming, a fight between good and evil, between life and death. Her boyfriend, Walter, works in a carnival and will have his role to play as well.

Cassandra couldn’t quit thinking about the fire that took her family, something felt off about it. Why did her and Johnny survive? Her Uncle George and Aunt Ellie had no answers either.

Thoughts flit through my mind as I read. I wonder, right along with Cassandra.

Circumstances have them coming together as the forces gather around them. They are an army of God.

Can the demons hear them? Is her intuition really the demons talking to her, telling her they know where she is?

The Rapture – angels fall. Can a demon be saved?

The more I read, the more involved I become. I ccouldn’t help but wonder how Kathryn was going to end this. But, wait, this is Book I, so stay tuned for Book II.

A Time of Demons is a different look at the end of the world, very thought provoking. I knew where things were going, but how it got there? Now that’s another story; a demonic, tornadic, apocalyptic ride.

I have been to Poplar Bluff, Mo, a location for A Time of Demons, but I didn’t see any angels or demons.

Demon snacks – people they fed on. Cracked me up. I love a little humor with my blood sucking.

I received A Time of Demons from the author, Kathryn Meyer Griffith, in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I love apocalyptic stories. Especially ones with a paranormal or supernatural cause. Kathryn gives us the biblical war of angels and demons.

Unaware that her “curse,” what she calls her ability to see when a person is going to die or if something evil hides behind a human facade, will play a large part in the war to come, Cassandra just tries to get through her days making a living playing gigs with her brother and taking care of her elderly aunt and uncle.

Cassandra and her brother, Johnny, couldn’t be more different. She’s responsible, faces difficulties head on and takes care of business. Johnny just wants to play music and live a carefree, no worries life. But they have a strong bond and pull together as their life takes a turn for the dark side.

It’s come. The last days for humanity. They’d all heard about it in one form or another, the end of days. Demons and angels are warring, humans are on the list for extinction, and the fight to save souls becomes the mission for Cassandra, her family, and friends.

Reading so many books on this scenario and watching many more movies, you’d think it would become mundane, the plot tired. Not so with Kathryn’s creative mind.

The author gives you some great characters. Packing them all into a motor home and setting them off to unknown destinations with demonic creatures on the trail made this a real page turner. You never knew who would survive, who they would save, and what they’d be fighting.

I felt like I was on the road with them. Planning out every detail of what they’d need, down to how much toilet paper they could pack in the RV. The story isn’t bogged down by these little things. Instead, it’s richer, more believable, not glossed over.

There’s a good mix of characters and what role they play in each others survival. A circus clown, a tarot reader, a musician, an elderly couple, Cassandra, Manessah, an angel, and Rayner, a very confused demon.

Those like Cassandra, the chosen, will be able to see the demons they are fighting, while others will have to put aside their disbelief and fight blindly. Having a guardian angel to guide them gives them an edge, while Rayner, the demon, confuses them.

Rayner is an ancient, powerful demon who has a crush on Cassandra. He should be trying to kill her. Instead, he helps the group, warns them of coming attacks, and actually helps in their battles. Still, he’s a demon, and Cassandra doesn’t trust him. And he’s getting on her nerves.

I can’t think of a better group of people to go through the end of days with.

Having read many of Kathryn’s books, I had no doubt she’d blow me away again. Highly recommend this to all who have a sense of adventure and enjoy end of the world situations with authentic characters.

I received this book for my honest review.

Seriously? A demon capable of self-awareness and introspection?

Angels and Demons stalk the earth without the knowledge of mortal men. Demons, in this time, hunt humans for food. Most of them, least of all a very ancient and powerful demon named Rayner, have no idea why they do this and have no concept that they answer to a higher power. Yet, this system has been in place for many thousands of years. Angels watch over humans attempting to keep the activity of the demons under control. But now it is time for the final showdown between demons and angels, between God and Satan, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance.

God is raising an army from among carefully selected humans and He has chosen a handful to enter into battle alongside His Angels against the demons. Although she does not understand this epic battle, Cassandra Graystone is such a soldier. Her purpose under the leadership of an Angel named Manasseh is to gather other soldiers of God into a fighting force to do battle against demons wherever they find them. The aggressiveness of the demons force her small army to fight while constantly moving. Along the Way, Cassandra learns a great deal about herself and her motives, and a great deal about her brother Johnny and their friends that accompany her on the mission. Feeling abandoned by God times. Cassandra also learns that God has a plan, that He has a special way of His own of implementing His plan and that God will never leave her or forsake her.

Rayner begins to be curious about humans. He has no concept of God or Satan, nor does he understand the behavior of his fellow demons. He feels no common bond with them and the more he learns about humans, the less he relates to his fellow demons. As a result, Rayner develops an odd respect Cassandra that has significant ramifications in the coming battle.

A Time of Angels and Demons is an action-packed edge of the seat thriller that keeps the reader wondering whether Cassandra will be able to endure and whether Rayner will ultimately decide to support his fellow demons or to help Cassandra and her band of God soldiers. The characters are well-developed, each of the characters has its own personal challenges to overcome and include challenges of faith and of their relationships to others. They all suffer losses, adjust to gains and meet overwhelming challenges of faith.

This book is a great read for anyone who loves fantasy, fights against good and evil, books in which faith is tried, and those who generally love adventures.

Captivating and Frightening!

Cassandra Graystone inherits an unusual gift. She can tell which people are about to die just by looking at them; die soon, very soon.
Cassandra has only her brother left as immediate family in her life. Her recluse life is soon turned upside down. She soon has to learn how to use her unusual powers to fight the demons that are after her and those like her. Will this be enough and who will have the courage to stand by her?

Just like in her other books, Kathryn Meyers Griffith builds strong characters that reader soon feels a connection with. She also paints vivid images and, in places, I was really scared. She takes her characters and the readers through an epic journey and, once finished, you can only look back (as well as over your shoulder) and grasp the symbolisms intertwined with the story. The fact that the book is written from a Christian perspective was an added bonus.

I'm a believer in God and the Bible/Revelations, so I really thought this was a well-written and crafted story, and loved the narration also. I've read/listened to several of Kathryn Meyer Griffith's works, and I have loved every single one. This is an intriguing tale of Cassandra, who since childhood has had the gift of sight, she can see and know things others can't. A demon named Rayner, who grows to care for Cassandra, warns her of an apocalyptic confrontation between good and evil. She is sucked into a whirlwind of terror and persecution. There are also some "lighter moments" that really pull everything together for a great story. Excellent job all around :)

A Time of Demons is a novel of a group of characters finding themselves wrapped up in the lead in to the biblical apocalypse. It is unlike any other biblical apocalypse story I've read or watched over the years however, from A Thief in the Night to more recent ones however. These others seem to all more or less carry the same interpretation of events. This book "branched out" a with somewhat more imagination. The book really does feel like an epic journey, and when I finished, and was thinking back to the start of it, it felt like so much had happened. The story was immersive, and well written.

The book is, I think, nominally written from a Christian perspective. I personally found some of Cassandra's early behaviour unwarranted and wrong for someone who was a moral devout person though. For example, unnecessarily lying to her uncle. I also felt, from a story perspective, that Cassandra had one ability early in the novel that was unnecessary to the story itself, and seemed to disappear later in the novel - the ability to see that a person was going to die. She had had it (I think from what was said in the book) for a few weeks prior to the novel, and seemed to have totally given up after that short period to even try helping the people she saw as marked for death. I found that just didn't jive with the expected behavior of a her character. The ability seemed to have disappeared later on, and honestly, if it was me I'd feel that the story would have been better without it at all, and that it would not have detracted from the tale.

The character of Rayner was also a breath of fresh air. I do kind of get tired of fantasies (and even sci fi) of any sort where the various groups are just stereotypes, or one dimensional archetypes representing a single human vice, whether it is werewolves, vampires, demons, or even say a Star Trek species, like a Ferengi representing "greed". I'm more of the opinion that for starters you can't treat an individual as a group, and that a sentient creature is capable of thought, and making decisions. Writers do tend to forget that when they write of demons as the biblical fallen angels that the very fact that the fell was because they made a decision to buck the system. So why are they then forever after somehow capable of making another decision, or regretting that earlier decision, or changing? Anyhow, Rayner embodied this depth, and his character's journey through the book was a great substory, and his internal conflict was well written and thoughtful.

For fans (like me) of shows like Supernatural, I this book probably would be enjoyed.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith did a fantastic job narrating. This was my first audiobook of hers, and I'd definitely recommend her narration to anyone. I did find some of the pronunciations a bit odd, but maybe that is just how it is pronounced in other regions or I'm wrong (eg Obadiah as O-ba-dear as opposed to how I thought it pronounced as O-ba-die-ah).

I really hope a sequel to this book is written.

In St. Louis, MO, the Graystones are musicians playing at a local bar and taking care of their elderly aunt and uncle. Cassandra and Johnny lost their parents and siblings in a fire when they were kids and ever since then, Cassandra has been plagued with a few supernatural powers: she can sense when someone is about to die, and (more recently) she can see demons (often disguised as humans). But now things are getting scary with more and more demons about and freak storms and accidents that force the Graystones and their friends on the road.

This book starts off pretty slow and stays that way for much of the story. On one hand, we get to know the main characters, especially Cassandra, pretty well. On the other hand, the long spaces between the bits of action were a bit tiring to get through as the characters are simply rehashing events and feelings we have already heard about. I place this book firmly in Christian Fiction first and paranormal fantasy fiction second. The only non-Christians in this book are the demons. While I understand this is a fiction based on the idea of Revelation, I was surprised that none of our non-demon characters were of a different religion, nor did any of our characters discuss any friends or family that were of another religious persuasion. I found this odd since our characters are musicians, fortune tellers, and circus clowns, all professions that at least rub elbows with a variety of folks. Plus St. Louis is a fairly large city with plenty happening.

Since there was lack of variety in religious backgrounds, all of our good guys were on the same page. This meant that the only conflict was between our heroes and the demons and that was pretty straight forward. This lack of differences meant no real conflict among our characters and this added to the dullness of the book; they were all on the same page. This also means that the character growth is limited to their religious take on the events they live through. The most interesting character was the blood demon Rayner and he is interesting because he has both internal conflict and conflict with his fellow demons as well as the humans going on. Unfortunately, his page time with readers is limited.

In short, if you enjoy Revelation or Christian fiction stories, then this might be right up your alley. There is some character development for our heroes and they do have to go through one travesty after another as the world approaches Revelation. However, for me, this book didn’t work. I like more diversity, which leads to situations where the characters face not only conflict with the forces of evil, but internal conflict and conflict with their friends and allies.

The Narration: Wendy King did a great job narrating this book. It is a quality performance with plenty of individual, distinct voices for the characters. She also has some great creepy voices for the demons.

A Time of Demons
I read / listened to this book in audio version via audible.com. Audio books breath life into books. This book in particular is an excellent example of the audio being a PLUS to the story. Listening to this book was like listening to a movie. The descriptions & voices were so vivid, I could actually imagine the demons and what was happening. Audio books let us be hands free so we can read while doing other things such as work, driving etc... or even just lay back & relax to a really good book!
This book is about a woman named Cassandra, who is sent on a journey for God. Cassandra is a fighter and a healer. Just recently , Cassie has discovered she can see demons too. Really ugly smelly Demons. Cassie has an angel guardian who teaches her the way to travel thru the end of days. The end of the world is coming & it is up to Cassie & her friends & family to help her thru this. Manasseh, Cassie's Guardian Angel helps Guide her in her trials and explains she will meet others like her on the way to the big fight. These fighters will be God's Army and angels will fight along side them.
The Demons are everywhere in the world. Disasters are happening everywhere too. Massive category 7 hurricanes. Earthquakes, Tsunami's and Super Tornado's too. The end is near. Cassie & her friends must get the non believers to listen & believe to save them. People are disappearing in alarming rates . The Demons torture them & eat them. One Demon, Rayner has even taken a liking to Cassandra and fights for her to his own death.
What an incredible imagination it took to write this book! I am just floored by it (in a good way). I really enjoyed this paranormal / sci fi read. It is a very long book, so people are really getting their money's worth and then some! The work this Author, Kathryn Meyer Griffith has put into this book is just incredible! The narrator, Wendy Tremont King does an excellent job with all the multiple voices. Her voices are spot on and very realistic sounding. The accents are fabulous! The author doesn't disappoint us. This book was so good, I found myself listening to it way past my bed time! Good job ladies! Just incredible! :)

Full disclosure, I received a free copy of this book in audio format from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this book at the beginning and it wasn't a bad story. My main problem was the narration. The narrator really bothered me with some of the voices. I would cringe from some of the voices.
As the story went on I was trying to decide who I would recommend this book to. Christians would have a problem with some of the actions of the characters, like using tarot cards to tell the future and swearing while battling demons. Non Christians would have a problem with the whole rapture of the righteous and the preaching of the believers. It is a tough recommendation. I am a Christian and I didn't have a problem with most of the stuff in the book until toward the end when the characters are told not to fight by an angle of God and they needed to leave, but the characters didn't listen and stayed and fought and then when they had a hard time they were complaining that the Angels had abandoned them. These are supposed to be the warriors of God and they aren't even following what Gods messengers are telling them to do. Also some of the characters are so unbelieving even when they see things happening right in front of them they still will make snide comments a few pages later. I was sadly disappointed. If you are interested in the book I say buy the kindle version and read it yourself. It is an interesting story and I only had a few complaints about the story itself. For the first half I was really into it. As the end got closer I was getting more and more bothered by little things, and I had to drop my rating.

A Time of Demons (Before the End) (Kindle Edition) The Author sent me a copy for review. Had not read any of her previous books.
## NO SPOILERS ## This book leaves me wondering if I can do a review that will do it justice. A Time of Demons was a surprise. Ms. Griffith know how to tell a story; however I am not sure it is totally fiction. I felt a wide rang of emotions: fear, happiness, sadness, anger, awe, love and hatred. The characters are well developed and the heroes seem like good friends and demand that you love them while reading of their treacherous path. The villains are too easy to hate while you pray for their demise. If you believe in God, this book will be thought provoking and disturbing at the same time. At times I had to stop reading just to wrap my mind around parts of the plot that terrified me.

The editing was good with not a lot of errors. The plot is fantastic and has lots of surprises up to the very end. I could go on and on but I hate long reviews. Don't miss this book. I would recommend it to young and old alike. Ms. Griffith, You have written one of the best books I have ever read and it will be with me for a long time. Kudos to you on a job well done. Any book that can keep me awake all night to read (almost made my dogs miss their dinner) is a good book to read. Thank you for being good at your craft. I hope to see a sequel.

"Eye Opener"
Would you listen to A Time of Demons again? Why?
Yes.

What did you like best about this story?
Cassie being able to heal.

What about Wendy Tremont King’s performance did you like?
She made Cassie seem so sweet.

Any additional comments?
This is the 1st book I've listened to by Kathryn Meyer Griffith. It was amazing. While I listened to the book. I just kept thinking about all the weird things going on around the world. I can easily believe that the end of times are coming.

The main character is Cassandra or Cassie to her friends and family. She is shocked to the core when she starts to see ugly things in people. More so when she realizes they are demons. And maybe her aunt is not so crazy after all. As she goes along she meets her guardian angel. So yes she is learning the end of times are coming sooner than she would have liked to of thought. She is an important person in the end of times fight and a healer.

What an amazing story line. Kudos to Kathryn for trying to open our eyes to the of times.

The narrator Wendy Tremont King was great. She did a great job with all the voices.

Another great book by Kathryn Meyer Griffith.
Cassandra is just a normal girl living above her elderly aunt and uncle playing guitar with her brother at a club to pay the bills. Things are going well for her until she starts having visions of people dying and not being able to do anything to save them. If only it ended there.....
Soon she is seeing "monsters" in human bodies and her best friend Sarah begins to get bad readings with her tarot cards. Cassie tries to ignore everything and live her life as normal as she can but the monsters are increasing and things are happening around her that she cant ignore. She finds that she has "powers" that she doesnt understand until she finds herself praying in church. She meets an angel who informs her that she is a warrior for God and there are others that she must find and work together with to fight the demons. With the help and understanding of her aunt, uncle, brother and friends Cassie embarks on a journey and follows the instructions of the angel to try to rid the world of demons......

Kathryn is an excellent author. She was able to vividly show how she interprets the Rapture and the second coming. The plot is captivating, but on occassion feels a little dragged out.

Her characters are a unique mix. Cassandra was likable but on occassion, mostly in the beginning, I wondered what she is thinking. She came across as quite the pushover but thankfully grew in the story to rise to the occassion. Rayner was more on the side and I would have enjoyed it to have him more in the story. His part in the story is important and adds nicely to the story. Walter, Johnny, Sue, Aurora and Uncle George add some interesting characters to the story. You can't help but feel for them.

I wonder if there will be a second book in this series. Only time will tell. If there is I will definitely read it since the book was well written and had a captivating plot.

I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)

Cassandra Graystone is a woman living a nightmare. She can see people who are about to die. She lost the rest of her family in a house fire twenty years before, and she and her remaining brother are musicians who play in bars and take care of their elderly aunt and uncle. Her unusual secret is one that she'd rather keep to herself until she begins to see darker and more dangerous visions and manifestations. She discovers that her visions are precursors to Armageddon and she begins to get visitations from an angel claiming that she is one of God's soldiers drafted to fight in the coming battles. Now her family and friends are given a mission: find the warriors of God Army and warn humanity of the coming terrors. I really enjoyed this book. It has horror, characters to care about and hope in the midst of despair. I give it an A!

I truly love the storyline in A Time of Demons. Having read nothing about this book, not even the synopsis, I put it aside for a few days before delving into 18 hours of listening (even though it was free for review, and I am usually very prompt). Just going by the cover and the title, I thought it would be much heavier reading than it actually was.

If you’re looking for a Christian end of days book, this is it.

My complaint is that everything is so very passive. The descriptions are beautiful, but sometimes I couldn’t tell if it was in the past or present. I am of the show, don’t tell school, and I feel as if someone has just told me a beautiful fairy tale. It just rolled right through me. For a story with such knock-out potential that could speak to so many people, I’d much rather have a story much more vibrant and living.

: Shivery good. Good descriptions, in which the reader gets well-acquainted with the characters before bringing them into the action. The scene where Aunt Ellis explains religion to blood demon Rayner is an interesting and well thought-out one as it bring a hint of conflict into the demon’s life, making him begin to question his own motives.

This is an entertaining, thought-provoking novel. Because of its theme and subject-matter (and the fact that it’s Book One of a series), expect its ending to be bittersweet, and you won’t be disappointed.

This is a well written and played out book dealing with the chosen few and the christian ideas of the end of days as written in the bible.Had I known that 'god is good, repent now' was the main point of the whole book I may not have read it.I'm glad I did though,I enjoyed it thoroughly...even through all the praying. It was a good bit of fiction and I'd read more.Wendy Tremont King was a wonderful narrator.
