I gave this book a low rating because I could not get into it. A couple of the stories were really good, but as a whole, I couldn't get into the language. Most of the stories take place in the 1960's and 1970's. It might be my fault, but for the most part, I just couldn't get into them.

There have been four Alfred Hitchcock's short stories volumes published till now namely.... Most Wanted, Shadow of Silence, Shrouds and Pockets and finally, Home Sweet Homicide. All of these contain amazing stories but there is one characteristic that it also has been plagued with is.. inconsistency. Some stories are absolute pinnacles of storytelling, on the other hand there are those that are a muddled and confusing mess. As I started on the fourth book "Home Sweet Homicide" I was expecting more of the same here. I was pleasantly surprised. Each story is really engaging. You follow the trail of investigation and you catch the bad guys. All stories are very well crafted. But there are no great stories. While this sounds ominous I tell you its not necessarily a bad thing. Whats different about this book is that instead of being a mixture of great and confusing stories, each story is consistently good. There are no big name writers here but it manages very well. Highly recommended. You wouldn't get bored for a minute.

Great stories. Powerful story-telling in the short story format. You never see the twist coming. Great book!

A nice collection of 12 short stories of different varieties ... each with a twist of its own.
