Fire of the Heart is the fourth installment in the Pembroke Eve Chronicles and takes place a few weeks after the Spring Dance.

Jacob, Callum and Zane are packing up for the night in the Food Emporium, when Mr. Barnaby bursts in, proclaiming Aloysius is missing. Where could a twenty-foot dragon have disappeared to in a small town like Pembroke Eve? And what’s more, when Jacob and the gang go to investigate, they are sucked into a wormhole that so happened to materialise right in the main street of the town. Coincidence? Hell yes! The vortex is a one-way ticket to the dragon realm, where the problems for Jacob and his friends have only just begun. Why? Well, they’ve walked right into a time when the realm is at its greatest unrest, their leader, Aloysius, no longer there to guide them. If only Jacob could ask Mr. Barnaby for advice. Trouble is, he’s disappeared now, too! To top it all off, Jacob unwittingly accepts an advance by a dragon shifter warrior named, Nottolu. The warrior claims Jacob as his mate and it’s up to Callum, his fiancé, to claim him back…even if it means his death. Everything becomes a race against time. The gang must work together to find not only Aloysius and Mr. Barnaby, but to get Callum and Jacob back together, too. All before an all out war threatens to destroy everything, even the hope of ever returning to Pembroke Eve.Can anything else go wrong? There is no doubt…

Mark Alders

I live in Melbourne, Victoria, in the land of Oz. According to my own Teenage mis-adventures, I am just an ordinary guy with a penis which likes to get me into trouble…a lot. I’ve seduced trees, copulated with watermelons, and had nice old ladies pick ants off my naked body. Yep, that’s me. Mark Alders. All round nice guy and with my brain firmly in my pants, exactly where it belongs!

So what about the here and now? Well, I am a mild, mannered post office worker by day. I have a mortgage to pay and a partner named Lee who I have been with for *cough* twenty one years *cough.* At night, my muse, the bitch, forces me into bondage and makes me sit at my computer and type out stories about men having sex with each other…all the time…over and over…in varying degrees of WTF, too!

I mean, I have stories out there about alien spiders needing humans to nourish their eggs, red-skinned aliens whose balls glow when they are sexually excited, beings who cock dock with their victims to drain them of their life force, and a young man who discovers puberty is just the start of his problems as he comes into ‘magolescence’ on his eighteenth birthday and his penis turns into a snake!

Ah, the life of a story teller. The fun never ends.

Excuse me Mr. Alders, but where was the knicker soaker warning on this book, hmmm?!!! Every time I turn around, Jakey is with someone different or several someones, yet he does it with such love and reverence that it never seems gratuitous! I have no idea how you accomplished that, I guess because I love these characters so much that if they're happy, I'm happy and the more the merrier!!

With the dragon realm's interesting rules and customs (seriously cock shake rather than a hand shake, where do you come up with this stuff?? And the pledge of allegiance, OMG I love it!!) and revelations about Jacob's heritage combined with sizzling hot scenes- this is the best book of the series so far!!! Fan-freaking-tastic!

If it were possible (and if you granted me permission), I would so love to f*ck your brilliant mind! lol

Wonderful read:) I just love this series. It's been some time since I was this entertained. This series is just so different. I never know where it will take me next.

I love how unpredictable the series has been but how they all form a cohesive plot line. Book three had seemed to be so disconnected from the others but in this book you see how it was needed to draw in the total of the series plot line together.

I look forward to where this series will take me to next.

I really don't know what to say about this one without spoiling too much!

Just think dragons and alternate universes. Now picture Jacob and all his friends there. Now imagine danger and claimings and lots of "LOVE"!!! Oh, and don't forget to add some shocking revelations about Jacob and his friends AND his family!!!

...and Jacob learns an interesting new "hand"shake...

I hope I'm "prepared" enough for book 5.

I loved, Loved, LOVED this installment of the Pembroke Eve Chronicles!! I really believe it's my favorite of the bunch so far. The Dragon realm was completely fascinating and much less creepy than the eternals, insectmen or aliens from the prior books. The rituals practiced by the tribe were, um, very unique and wholly hot!! The plot line was very suspenseful and there were plenty of sections where I just couldn't put down the book because I had to know what happened next.

I was a bit worried about Jacob again in this book - he's a little easy to give in. However, he definitely redeemed himself and the end result turned into one of the smexiest scenes I've read - whew! And joy of all joys, my favorite, Zane starred front and center throughout this story - yay!! That guy is funny, witty and sexy - he's got it all going for him and I love him as an equal partner with Jacob and Callum.

One more book to go in the series and I have equal parts anticipation and dread - of course I want to keep reading and experience more of this wonderful world, but I know I'll hate when it comes to an end! I guess it just means I'll get to move on to more of Mark's work outside of Pembroke Eve, and I am definitely looking forward to that!!!

I want more dragons! Wow Mark has surprised me once again. I loved this story and I loved learning more about Aloysius and the dragons. I so loved the dragon handshake, I laughed out loud. It was too funny. It was also nice to catch up with Jacob,Callum, Zane, Suzy and Mr. Barnaby This series keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for the next book!!

This was incredible! Bravo Mark for another amazing story! My favorite one so far. This installment takes Zane, Callum, Jacob, Suzy and Mr. Barnaby to the Dragon Realm thru a wormhole to rescue Aloysius (Mr. B's dragon friend) where Jacob finds out that he and Aloysius are actually twin brothers and that Jacob is part dragon! Cool plot twist! We also learn there are three realms: Human, Eternal (time traveling vampires) and Dragon.

Upon immediate arrival, Jacob is claimed as the head warrior's mate because he and Callum didn't have matching garlands a/k/a tattoos above their cocks showing they were a couple. Also, when the head warrior shook his cock (which is how the men greet each other along with a kiss on the earlobe) and pinched his foreskin shut (which is a bid for mating), Jacob didn't hit his hand away. Like Jacob would know the Dragon's customs prior to arriving! But head warrior didn't care. Poor Jacob now has to go with head warrior while Callum, Zane and Devlyn (another dragon who befriended them in the woods prior to bringing them to the encampment) devise a plan to get Jacob back w/o there being a fight that would end in someone's death. I won't go into the details of that. You'll have to read the book to find out how it went down. Also, there is a rival dragon clan that attacks and a huge fight breaks out.

In the end, the plan to get Jacob back from head warrior works (and I felt so sorry for him because he truly loved Jacob) gives up his claim and instead of Jacob and Callum turning him away, they take him into their bed and shower him with affection and love and a very hot foursome ensues once Zane walks in on them. My Kindle was on fire!! This is one the things I love about this series. Sex is used as a means to show love, affection and comfort to each other. Even though Jacob and Callum are engaged to be married and are the main couple in this story, they welcomed Zane into their bed in book 2 because he was depressed and needed someone and now the head warrior was welcomed as well. There is no jealously, no feelings of being left out. It's not only hot, but very refreshing to see men be so accepting and accommodating to each others' needs. You will not find drama in this story when it comes to the relationships which is a nice change from the usual angst found in most m/m stories.

In the end, Jacob becomes the new King, taking over for his brother (which was his plan all along), and Mr. Barnaby is stuck in the Eternal realm. Jacob leaves the ruling of the Dragon Kingdom in the head warrior's capable hands while he and the gang (Zane, Callum, and Suzy) along with Aloysius, go back to the human realm to devise a plan to get Mr. Barnaby back and that is where book 5 picks up the story.

I will never again look at a dragon hand shake the same. ;-)

I really enjoyed this addition of Pembroke chronicles. Though the very FIRST sentence of the book gave me heart palpitation. Zane cannot go! If Zane wants Suzy so bad then Suzy is just going to have to figure out how to live together with my guys. I think I will have to give her a call.

The eternals of the last book really CREEPED me out and I was happy that we did not "see" much of them in this book. Instead we get to know more about Jacob and his family. I kept crying foul when I thought I knew what was happening but Mark kept up the left turns and leasing me guessing. But I have to say that Jacob shouldn't tease Callum anymore about thinking with his d*ck. Jacob did that just fine by himself this time around. (Boy, that was fun!)

I know we will see more of "Thomas'" relatives in book five. I may have to indulge in liquid courage while reading the next book...which I have to wait for it to come out. I am counting down the days...

You know what would be more than awesome? One word, AUDIOBOOK. I would like to have this on my MP3 player to listen to when I cannot read it. I am just selfish that way.

If I said I wasn't hooked on this series, I'd be lying. Fire of the Heart was fast-paced and fun to read. It was great to see the group back (except for poor Mr. B). I have faith that he'll be saved in #5. :)

After 3 books, I think I finally understand the dynamics of the relationships!!! :-) I was annoyed with what I couldn't wrap my head around and the utter horniness of Jacob, but this book made me see him in a different light and I saw him grow up a bit. I LOVED Aloysius. This book showed the promise of an awesome future for Jacob, Callum, Zane, and Aloysius.
