»Held wird man nicht erst, Held ist man. An jedem verdammten Tag seines Lebens.« Auf dieser Grundformel aufbauend, setzt Flix sein eigenes Leben in einem Comic um. Das Ungewöhnliche an dem Er erzählt nicht nur vom Tag seiner Geburt bis zur heutigen Zeit, sondern spinnt sein Leben weit darüber hinaus bis zu seinem Tod fort. So sieht man, wie Felix tagsüber mit seinen Mitschülern von nebenan und nachts mit den Monstern unter seinem Bett kämpft. Wie er Urzeitkrebse und Neurosen züchtet, das Zeltlager und die Pubertät durchsteht, die erste große Liebe und noch größere Monster trifft, schließlich auszieht und studiert und einen Comic namens »held« zeichnet. Wie er dann eine Familie gründet, arbeitet, Peinlichkeiten und Sonnenstunden erlebt und immer wieder auf der großen Suche ist...

CAZZO, QUALCUNO GLIELO VUOLE DIRE AGLI EDITORI TEDESCHI CHE I FUMETTI E SOPRATTUTTO LE GRAPHIC NOVELS VANNO PUBBLICATE SU ALBI A GRANDE FORMATO, E NON SU TASCABILI CON TESTI SCRITTI A DIMENSIONI MICROSCOPICHE?!

Con notevoli sforzi, causati dalla dimensione microscopica del lettering, sono riuscito finalmente a venire a capo di questo fumetto di Flix. Si tratta di qualcosa di sostanzialmente diverso rispetto alle altre sue graphic novel, che gli sono cronologicamente posteriori, e che ho già letto e recensito. Questo è infatti il “Diplomarbeit” con cui Flix si è diplomato alla Hochschule der bildenden Künste di Saarbrücken nel 2002. Una tesi piuttosto originale, peraltro: raccontare - a fumetti - la propria vita, passata e - soprattutto - futura. Una bella scommessa col destino, in sostanza, col rischio - opportunamente evidenziato da uno dei personaggi - di fabbricarsi una “profezia autoavverante”. L’armamentario narrativo è quello che conosciamo già: flash-back, interviste a personaggi “laterali” alla vita di Flix con lo stile delle inchieste televisive, interventi di figure allegoriche; in particolare il suo spirito-guida, il “grosser Bruder”, un fratello maggiore morto prima di nascere. Quello che impressiona, e che coinvolge, è il fatto che per tutta la vita - passata e futura - il personaggio Flix lotta contro dei mostri immaginari, trovando proprio nel disegno l’arma per fronteggiarli. Devo dire che questo album (“album” si fa per dire, dato il formato minimale) è molto più drammatico e meno divertente degli altri che ho letto di Flix. Se non altro fa piacere che il suo percorso evolutivo seguente lo abbia portato ad accenti decisamente più leggeri e scanzonati. Per ovvi motivi, peraltro, qui c’è una grande assente: Berlino, “die schoenste Stadt der Welt”, dove Flix si sarebbe trasferito solo successivamente (...invece di Barcellona, che sembra essere qui la sua destinazione finale) e della quale avrebbe impareggiabilmente colto spirito e figure tipiche, raccontandole nelle sue produzioni successive.

Habe dieses Buch gelesen, weil mir sein Spirou in Berlin so gut gefiel. Um es positiv auszudrücken: andersrum hätte ich den Spirou-Band sicher verpasst.
Man muß sich schon sehr für Beziehungskisten und eher gradliniges, ereignisloses Aufwachsen eines Jungen begeistern können, um "Held" etwas abzugewinnen.

For years, I ignored Flix's work, and I don't know even why. I've been familiar with his name, but I never cared to check out some of his work until I recently picked up a copy of his latest book, his adaptation of Cervantes' Don Quixote. After that I decided I'd have to read more of his books, and so went for his debut, "Held". Here, Flix tells the story of his life - all of his life! While in his mid-20's, Flix doesn't stop at that point but continues to tell what his life will be like until his death years later. It is a very interesting idea, a great story Flix is telling here, and his breaking the fourth wall multiple times where the audience asks the author to tell them more about something that just happened in the story is part of this great concept. Definitely worth reading!

Es ist großartig, wie Flix in seinem ersten großen Band die Geschichte seines Lebens erzählt - bis hin zu einer potenziellen Zukunft. Tipp: Unbedingt auch "sag was" lesen - das ist quasi ein Spin Off zu "held".
