Usable as a hands-on guide from the very first day of school, The Organized Teacher addresses the practical needs of firstyear teachers of grades K-8. It covers everything they need to know, from classroom management and school procedures to streamlined record keeping and state standards. The book includes helpful reproducible checklists and instructive illustrations, along with invaluable advice from experienced professionals.
This book is a quick read because there is not a lot of substance to the book. There are a lot of pictures. Most of the stuff in this book is self-explanatory. I bought this with the hopes of using it to help my interns, however, I know that I knew the majority of this stuff going into to teaching. I would recommend this book to people who are out-of-field teachers... otherwise, it just reiterates what you learned in college. There are some good ideas in the book, but it is not worth going out and buying the book for them.
I always like to read these types of books right before the school year starts even though I'm in my 4th year of teaching...it's a great refresher and has fantastic ideas for the classroom! I've already ordered the sequel to this called "The Creative Teacher." Can't wait!
This book is a great resource for any teacher. Many of the information is geared toward elementary but can very easily be ramped up for middle schoolers.
This book contains straight forward practical advice. Explains its reasoning, but gives sound direction for a first year teacher to get organized.content has stuff student teachers have probably already picked up from interning. Basic at most, and I find this useful for beginning teachers. Compliment this book with Pintrest and online teacher blogs.
