I think most people know about my love of cowboys, so when I saw this and the second book of the Sequins, Saddles and Spurs series, I was intrigued. This is a fun short story, at 95 pages it is a fairly quick read but it does pack a frisky little frolic into it. Even if the ending is rather abrupt. But I will get to that later.

The series focuses on the life changing events surrounding, Emily, Lola and Roxy who leave Vegas under a storm of disillusionment and a severe lack of funds, their pink Cadillac breaks down in a tiny town called Mesa Blanco. They arrive bedraggled and starving with few funds and find that life in a small town might be just what they needed. Particularly after they all meet a cowboy of their own.

Trouble in Cowboy Boots is the story of Emily and Wyatt, having lost her job and condo in Vegas Emily doesn't seem to be having much luck, as a character she is likeable, when Wyatt is 'mean' to her later in the novel we really feel for her and almost rejoice in the physical effect this seems to have on him. Wyatt is intense yet fun, walking that fine balance of boyish charm and brooding hidden depths. He likes to dominate in the bedroom and that is fine by me. He also has his own issues to deal with and eventually he does.

As I said, he does let her down in the story, but then again, that does happen in life and her reaction is perfectly human, as I said, I felt it ended rather abruptly and I think that is perhaps because I wanted it to go on longer. It was a fun and frisky read and totally passed the time when sitting in a hospital waiting room, thanks for ereaders!

An erotic and frisky little outing a fun summer read! I give Trouble in Cowboy Boots 3.5 frilly knickers out of 5. A damp panty read.

Wow. And not a good wow. Wasn't as bad as some I've read, but I'm not gonna sing any praises here.

This series starts out with three girlfriends busting out of Vegas to take a trip of a lifetime-Thelma and Louise style. Only problem? They have an old car which breaks down in a very small town. Plus they have no funds to get it fixed. When they stop in the local eatery for a cool drink and to decide what to do, they meet some cowboys who were willing to give them jobs. This book is Emily's story.

Emily accepts a job as a ranch hand cook from Wyatt the ranch owner. Emily doesn't know a thing about cooking-yet alone cooking for twenty plus people! Yikes! Wyatt takes pity on her after a few days of inedible food, and gets her a cooking tutor. Now if she could understand her attraction to the boss! Yes he is a hunky cowboy, loves to be dominate in the bedroom, but Emily feels he's holding back. Can she break through Wyatt's tough cowboy exterior??

I had a spicy, fun time reading this book. It's pretty short, but we are able to understand the characters pretty easily. I liked Emily but wish she had a tad more backbone. When Wyatt screws up-and you knew he would-she doesn't make him hardly work to get back into her good graces. I wanted him to grovel more!!

So good start to the series, and I look forward to the next two books featuring Emily's girlfriends!

Kris' Review

Desiree Holt has written a scorching erotic love story that is hard to put down. If you like hot cowboys, and every spicier sex then you’ll love this book. Kudos to the cover artist as well since this is a beautiful cover.

Emily Proctor and her two friends Roxie and Lola are heading east from Las Vegas when their jalopy of a car barely makes it to Mesa Blanco, Texas before dying. All three find work immediately and pledge to stay in Mesa Blanco just long enough to earn the money needed to fix the car, before they continue on their journey to a future somewhere east. On impulse, Emily takes a job as a cook at the Lazy Acres Ranch, after immediately falling in lust with the owner, Wyatt Cavanaugh. Unfortunately, for Emily she can’t cook at all. There is some comic relief as friendships develop between Emily, Wyatt and the ranch hands. Emily has to learn to cook and fast before the hungry ranch hands threaten to use more than just her burnt biscuits for target practice.

Wyatt Cavanaugh not only owns the Lazy Acres Ranch, but he also knows exactly what he wants: hot food on the table, extra spicy women in his bed, and his freedom. He is far from being ready to ‘give up the banquet life offered’. Yet there’s something about Emily Proctor that really gets under his skin. Ms. Holt eloquently explains that Wyatt ‘wondered if he was following his cock only to find his head in a noose’.

Wyatt has very specific ideals when it comes to his sexual desires and Emily finds herself in very unfamiliar territory. Will she stay and bravely learn the erotic ways of BDSM or hightail it back to town as skittish as a colt? Is Emily the woman that can tame the wild stallion in Wyatt? Does he really want her to? Moreover, what about her plans to stay in Mesa Blanco temporarily?

Y’all will have to read and find out. ‘Trouble in Cowboy Boots’ teaches you a lot about cooking – in the bedroom that is. It is a sizzling erotic love story that is so hot at times; you’ll need oven mitts to read it. Desiree Holt has written a wonderfully funny, erotic story that is sure to please any reader who likes it hot and spicy. Her characters are true to form, believable and likeable from the very start. ‘Trouble in Cowboy Boots’ earns 4 ½ Tea Cups and a smoking hot heat rating of 4.

Emily Proctor is on an adventure to a new life after escaping Las Vegas with two of her best friends. She just never thought it would end in the quiet town of Mesa Blanco where the car they'd been riding in broke down. Now the girls are penniless, jobless and homeless.

One look at her and Wyatt Cavanaugh made some plans of his own. It'd been a while since a sexy lady with innocent eyes wondered into town. Especially one in need of a job. Well, he had one for her. It so happens Wyatt needs a cook for his ranch hands and Emily jumped at the prospect. Unfortunately for all his men, she'd never cooked a day in her life. But that's not what Wyatt wants to teach her, anyway. Soon he gives in to his desire and takes Emily on a sexual journey of BDSM.

Trust. A simple word and one Emily has to decide if she does. Wyatt is a cowboy and one with an appetite that is insatiable when it comes to sex. He's Trouble in Cowboy Boots, especially when her heart going back on their 'no strings attached' agreement.
WARNING: m/f romance, BDSM, and anal sex

Wow! I will fully admit I learned some things in this short and sexy novella. It had wonderfully full characters, though I did get the girls mixed up in the beginning. Wyatt was everything a cowboy should be-- sexy, built, caring and, Hot Damn!, virile. Emily's innocence to the ways of 'his sex' were honest and she wasn't fake with her willingness to learn. Unfortunately, I will have to say that in the beginning I wasn't feeling the attraction between the two. However, as soon as Wyatt staked his claim on her, the chemistry blazed! The female rival was delightfully played, while Emily's reserved nature had me spitting nails at her reaction to the 'threat'. Of course, I'm a chew 'em up and spit 'em out kinda woman.

All and all, I enjoyed this sexual journey so much I'll be reviewing the followup next week-- Trouble in a Stetson by Regina Carlysle.

In need of a read that will get you ready for a Hot night of kinky sex? Here you go, with no disappointments!
Congratulations, Desiree Holt on Three and a Half Blue Roses.

Book #1 starts the cowboy shake up

Looking for a grand adventure turned sour for Emily Proctor. Instead of fun and excitement she is stranded in no man’s land with a broken down car, no job and worn out by life Emily is looking for some relief in her drab life and never expected to find it in Mesa Blanco, Texas with one red, hot cowboy named Wyatt Cavanaugh. He offers her a job and as the days turn into night it soon becomes too obvious that what they have between them is more than employer and employee because after all he hired her to cook and she can only burn the food.

Wyatt shows Emily all the wild and free things they can do as a couple and how much fun the exploration can be. Emily still feels she is not going to stay on the ranch and Wyatt fears he might mess this up and when each of them takes the wrong step to mess up the relationship which one will get it fixed and decide if this can be a permanent thing or is a temporary good time.

Where are they going is unsure but the ride is fabulous.

This book gets to the heart of the matter from page one and shows how two consenting adults can enjoy life to the fullest. The days may be long but the nights are hot and Desiree Holt shows how much fun it can be when you turn up the heat.

I loved this book, until Emily forgave Wyatt for cheating on her after a two minutes talk. Ok, he didn't slept with Diana, but he still kissed her, grabded her butt and follow her home with every intention of doing it! To me, that is totally unacceptable. The part where Wyatt explains to Emily that it's her fault, because 'You went and made me lose my heart to you, Auntie Em. Something I never intended to do' got me so mad I had trouble reading the book until the end!

I'm not giving up on Desiree Holt's books, because I really liked most of this story. I just wish Emily would have shown more self respect by making Wyatt grovel for her forgiveness. But maybe that's just me?

An Awesome Read!

I loved reading Trouble in Cowboy Boots (Seguine, Saddles, and Spurs, Book One), all about Wyatt Cavanaugh a rancher & owner of his own ranch & Emily Proctor a Convention Center Consultant. They met when her & her friends literally pulled into the diners parking lot and died! The three girls are lookers and dressed in very little clothing since it's so hot outside. They also are broke and can only afford one large coke with three straws. The author wrote a very interesting story and the characters brought said story to life! Read this book and fall in love with Wyatt & Emily! If you like hot steamy stories that make you wet, then this is the book for you!

Sort of fun. Even though the girl's dilemma really wasn't explained, the situation they found themselves in was cute and kind of fun. The farms hands were funny too. Good, short and enjoyable story.

Liked the story of Wyatt and Em, but DID NOT like how Wyatt dealt with trying to get her out of his system, just heartbreaking.
It worked out, but I think I would have had to have slugged him before giving in.

I liked this book. Emily and Wyatt were a cute couple. Wyatt had his butthead moment - he should have had to grovel more, but hell even I had to forgive him.
