The story was entertaining for the most part, which is all I ask of a Harlequin Presents. The heroine annoyed me at first because she almost fainted every time she saw the hero because of his sexy unrelenting machismo. She was supposed to be a great chef but she didn't come off that well when she could barely function in the studly hero's presence. The story skipped around a lot, there would be sudden scenery and time changes that were confusing. The author used extremes for every thing, she was so madly in love! They would love each other to the end of time! He was the best lover in the world! The love scenes had some funny wording in them too, some of the descriptions made me laugh. The author's writing style could use some improvement.
But despite the funky writing at times, the story was still a decent entertaining read. I liked both main characters, especially how honest and sweet the heroine was. I also liked that the hero didn't take himself too seriously. There was a light hearted tone to the story, which is not always the case in HP-landia.
This was... dry. That's the only, well one of the only words I can think if to describe it. The other is bad.
The h is top chef at a ski resort. She's the top chef, but she does all the housework too so what gives.
The sheikh shows for a last hurrah with some other alpha friends, and the next thing we know is the h has dropped her canapés all over the ground and soaked one of the guys with champagne, all from seeing the H. That's about what the transition was in the book.
She doesn't get fired as she redeems herself with a yummy dinner and somehow the Sheikh and the h finds themselves in bed after she sexes things up singing kareoke. Huh? Sex a couple of more times and he reluctantly leaves to rule his kingdom. Their wonderful time together is tarnished as he leaves her enough money in a tip to open a restaurant. Kind of sleazy as it reeks of payoff. He leaves her with something else, a pregnancy, so she wings it the kingdom to let him know. She doesn't know he's a sheikh just thinks he's a businessman.
She gets there and finally sees him, and he is less than pleased. He wants to overhaul the country and how can he do that with a knocked up westerner? Hey wait! She's pregnant so he can use that to show the other little weaker sheikhs how virile he is. He'll pay her off, plant her in an estate in England somewhere, and she can visit the spawn of the Sheikh occasionally. Wow, how awesome is that. That's what happened to his mother which makes. him so bitter, but who cares.
Turns out she's pregnant with twins and that overwhelms her as how can she raise twins on a chef's job even if she opens her own restaurant. She didn't catch on to the fact that he wants the kids not her. They have sex again, and he changes his mind, and ... I am not even going to finish the rest of the review.
Even though I had just a few pages to go I wasn't convinced he wasn't going to sell her out and plant her in England without the kids.
There is back story with her parents and FIVE brothers who don't understand her, but it's vague as to whether they are too intellectual to understand her, too male, too... what? They don't even make it to the wedding at the very end, so again, who cares?
As for the title, she's not that unruly. She's nanny pamby at the beginning, and dithering at the end.
I was surprised at how much I liked this book. I loved the Swiss chalet setting at the beginning. Lucy is a chef at the chalet and the soon to be Sheikh of Isla de Sinnebar comes to stay at the chalet she works at. He just calls himself Mac for this get away so she has no idea who he really is. She is so flattered that he even notices her.
They hang out together and he teaches her how to enjoy life. She is such a sweet innocent woman Mac can't resist her. His one final fling in the Alps produces a surprise baby.
Lucy shows grit when she flies to his desert home to tell him he is soon to be a father. When she gets there she is surprised to find out that he is the RULING SHEIKH.
This book never got dull and it kept me turning the pages.
Did I mention how much I loved Sheikh heroes? Seriously, they were one of my fave heroes - I loved their confidence, their arrogance, and dominance, and most especially, I loved their sexy dark features I always dreamed about.
I loved both Razi and Lucy. The chemistry between them was off the charts. I loved how Razi saw the real Lucy. And as for Lucy, I adored her. She's a very relatable heroine, and you'll find yourself rooting for her, wanting her to overcome her fears and gain more confidence and find her happy ever after. And, of course, with Razi.
If you're looking for a quick, sexy, sweet, and heartwarming read mixed with a sexy, dark, and alpha hero and genuine heroine, don't look further because Ruling Sheikh, Unruly Mistress got that in spades!
Didn't like the meandering way the story happened. Odd scene jumps and weird choices of what to include. And he didn't even want to marry her when she turns up pregnant. And then he did, maybe and then he wishy washied all over. Not well written in my opinion.
I totally love this book, it has lots of twist and turn that keep your attention. There is nothing that I dislike about it. It's an amazing romantic book and I would recommend to my family and friends.
Lucy Tennant has always felt she was something of a misfit. She never fit in to her family, and becoming a chef at an exclusive chalet gave her the opportunity to pretend everything was ok. Running in to Mac, and having someone with his charisma, sexiness and charm desire her, was the fulfillment of a fantasy. Her very own Prince Charming.
Mac is reality Sheikh Razi al Maktabi, and he is the King of his country. What started out as a final fling before setting down to devote himself to the well-being of his country, takes an unexpected turn when he teams up with Lucy. He never had a true family, and she gave him an impression of what his life could have been like if he was anything other than who he was.
When Lucy discovers she is pregnant, she finally finds ou who Mac really is. Letting him know she is carrying his child, he is given another glimpse of what life could be, but he must deal with the business of his country and balance that with his feelings and relationhip with Lucy.
An OK story. A few typos in the beginning were a distract, but the story seemed to almost get there, but then it seemed like there was a few chunks missing, but otherwise OK.
