The tragic accident claiming the life of Susan Wiley had been classified as just that, an accident. Then why is her husband being charged with her murder? The very thought is ludicrous. But Chief of Police Henry Espinoza doesn't agree, refusing to listen to arguments that Sam's neighbors, Trish Anderson, Edna Radcliff and Millie Morrow present regarding his character and the relationship he had with his wife.

Angry at being dismissed so easily, the women resolve to prove Sam's innocence, not only to help their friend, but to show Henry they are not ready for a nursing home just yet. Using the experience, determination, and pigheadedness their combined ages of 193 years afford them, they rush headlong into danger and intrigue, learning something about themselves during the process. They seem to have a knack for this detective stuff!

Susan Wiley’s death was considered an accident until her husband, Sam was charged with murder. Susan and Sam’s neighbors and close friends decide to take matters into their own hands and investigate. Trish, Edna and Millie embark on a deadly investigation to prove Sam’s innocence and prove that Susan's death was no accident.

Crime investigation meets the Golden Girls! This book has it all from suspense to humor to mystery. It’s a great summer read and the characters kept me laughing throughout the book. The plot was great and the girls stop at nothing to get to the truth.

Kelly rolled the dice and took risks with what these elderly women say and do, and it was the perfect gamble. As has often been said, no risk, no reward…Kelly definitely has reward coming her way.

While this is a mystery, it is character driven instead of plot driven. The characters are wonderful - women we have all known in some point of our lives: Trish, who's addicted to coffee and allergic to exercise; Edna: who's constantly worrying about what her husband will think, and Millie, who makes up for being short by bossing everyone around. This is a fun mystery - no darkness for these ladies! Curl up with it and enjoy yourself!

Avalon and Mitzi Kelly bring you the first book in the Silver Sleuths series. Classic Revenge combines all the elements of the cozy mystery; the small neighborhood setting, the likeable amateur sleuth (in this case three), no graphic violence or profanity for a fun and engaging read.

In Classic Revenge a dear friend of Trish, Edna and Millie has died. At first her death is ruled accidental but then the woman’s husband, Sam, is arrested for her murder. The women, whose combined age is 193, are incensed. How could anyone believe Sam could murder the love of his life?

The police are convinced they have their ‘man’ and aren’t interested in investigating further. These strong and determined ladies are not going to sit still while Sam is railroaded; despite being warned of the dangers of involving themselves with murder suspects the trio begin their investigation.

As they doggedly follow the intricate twists of the plot, the ladies find plenty of clues and possible scenarios eventually ending up with more danger and suspects than expected only to find themselves held at gunpoint.

Trish and her friends Millie and Edna are stunned when their neighbor, Sam, is accused of murdering his wife. They were saddened by Susan's death, but surely it was accidental! But they slowly realize that Susan really was murdered--and they're also sure that Sam was the target, more than the perpetrator, of the crime. The three women take risks to prove their friend is innocent.

Mitzi Kelly is able to take her readers inside the lives of her characters. In this book, Trish, Edna, and Millie become self-appointed detectives when they decide the police aren't doing their jobs in solving the murder of their friend.

Fun book! Fast read

This was cute, and a east read. I just wished that I liked a few of the characters more. I found one of them to be very unlikeable, which almost ruined it for me, but I finished it any way. But besides that, it was a fun book to read. Just not sure if I will read another book if it has the same characters in it.

Trish, Edna, and Millie comprise the silver sleuths of Mitzi Classic Kelly's story of Classic Revenge. The three ladies are part and partial to solving several murders. This mystery is an entertaining easy read.

Cute story about several older ladies solving a murder case. As I'm one of those seniors, I enjoyed their antics.

When three "older" ladies discover that their friend has been arrested for the murder of his wife, they do not doubt his innocence. Unfortunately, the police are convinced that they have their man. This sets the ladies off on an investigation of their own seeking evidence of their friend's innocence. Their investigation involves all sorts of zany antics, some of questionable legality. As they come closer to learning the truth, another murder occurs. Will the three amatuer detectives survive to see their friend cleared?

This delightful read will keep you laughing and on the edge of your seat until the very last page!

I got the ebook version of this from Amazon for $1. It was money well spent. While I don't feel the need to read any additional books in this series (although there may be only one more), it was a solidly fine read. I liked the characters and felt like I knew them. I wasn't sure who the killer was till the end. Kelly has a couple "ticks" that get repeated a few times too many but they don't ruin the experience. If you're looking for a fast and breezy mystery, you could do a lot worse.

Good Story, But ...

I really liked this cozy mystery! It was funny and kept me guessing. The "silver sleuths" were delightful characters. I'll definitely buy more in this series. My only complaint is that the text-to-speech didn't work properly (not sure whose fault that is). About once every couple of paragraphs, it would repeat the last 2 syllables of a word -- very distracting!

The writer Mitzi Kelly spends too much time trying to be cute and funny instead of focusing on the plot. The book was unrealistic. You just wouldn't be so cutsy if one of your best friend's wife was murdered. Also, you do seniors an injustice by writing them as such simpletons. In a word it was hokey.

A quaint little cozy

If you like clean-cut cozy mysteries, then you'll like this one. The story drags a bit in places, but overall it is a fast, light read. Hopefully the next story to feature these characters will flesh them out a little more & possibly throw in a romance for Trish.

Funny little mystery

The characters were funny and entertaining. The author painted a great picture of the three older ladies and made me wish for neighbors like them. The murder mystery had a lot of twists and turns to keep you interested in the story.

Enjoyable

Recommended for those who enjoy reading light mysteries. The plot is unlikely, but the main characters, three middle aged women, are likeable and their interaction is often humorous. Am planning to read the next book in this series.

The characters are cute, but not entirely believable, and it's very distressing to see them put themselves in danger. This is like a blend of a cozy and a thriller, and I'm not entirely sure it works. I might be interested in reading another novel, just to see if the characters deepen a bit.

The characters didn't seem to be developed well. They just ran around looking for clues and avoiding the police. I would not read another one.

Good read

This is a very enjoyable read. Funny at times, but really kept your interest. It also shows that you never get too old to defend friends.
