Really essential book to read for understanding the neocolonial nature of the national oppression faced by African people born in the US, otherwise referred to in the text as New Afrikans. In this book you will find a really solid rundown of the history of the African freedom struggle in the US, as well as the history of the movement to free political prisoners. Jalil Muntaqim has a very clear eyed view of what can be done to preserve life and to build something that is new and powerful on the land currently classified as the United States. The most powerful and useful parts of this book can be found in the sections titled "National Strategy for FROLINAN" and "FROLINAN Handbook". Overall, this book is a great read for those interested in engaging in revolutionary nationalist struggle, but I have to be honest and say that I don't think this book is strong in the realm of African history. Many assertions made about development of the transatlantic slave trade are ahistorical, and lay the basis for some illogical developments concerning the identity of African people born in, and living in the US.

Any radicals who publish their prison writings(Peltier, Jackson, Abu-Jamal, etc.) tend to have an entirely different view on the political aspects of being incarcerated. I look forward to taking this in.
