Volume 4 was brutal. The Mongolians have made their way into Koryo and are raping and pillaging like no tomorrow. It was a brutal continuation, so read with caution if you choose to get into this series. It was very sad and we have spent quite a bit of time in the past (a few volumes now), and I can’t help but hope we soon return to 1999. But it seems like things are just getting starting in the 13th century wartime.

It's been nearly a year since I started reading this series, so maybe I'm just not remembering it, but it seemed to me that there was a lot of rape in this volume that wasn't in the story earlier. :( Made me feel upset and sick to my stomach, so I can't say I enjoyed reading this one.

There are also some sudden changes of scene that are hard to follow, and overall it is still pretty easy to get confused as to what's going on and where. At this point, I'm not expecting that to change with future volumes. I also think it would be easier to follow along if I were more familiar with the historical events this series is based on.
