Rock What You've Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who's Been There and Back
From Katherine Schwarzenegger comes ROCK WHAT YOU'VE GOT, a hip, empowering, get-real guide to loving the body you're in.
For young women today, developing a healthy body image can be a challenge. Yet Katherine Schwarzenegger has done just that. She has been there . . . and back, and has come not only to accept but to love her curvy, powerful, smart, sexy, and happy self. She wants to help other girls do the same-recognize their own beauty, both inside and out.
An estimated 8 million Americans have an eating disorder. Seven million of those are young women, and more and more of them are girls. Girls are increasingly growing dissatisfied with their bodies, trying to change them and fit into some image or mold of perfection that is impossible to achieve.
Where are they getting this from?
The answer is clear: their moms, sisters, friends, frenemies, television, movies, magazines, and every other media outlet imaginable.
When you open a magazine or watch a movie, what kind of girls do you see?
Skinny ones!
Impossibly perfect girls with immaculate bodies.
Everywhere they look, girls are inundated with carefully airbrushed, highly inaccurate images of the female body. It's no wonder they feel something's wrong with them!
In this down-to-earth, reassuring, and fun book, Katherine calls for a new way of seeing what is beautiful. Packed with informative facts, moving personal anecdotes from Katherine's life, and the voices of other Rock What You've Got women, her book celebrates the female form, whatever the size, and inspires girls to ROCK WHAT YOU'VE GOT!

This book was an amazing book that teaches you to love your body inside and out. It told me information about anorexia, bulimia, and the risks of taking diet pills. It also told me about Katherine Schwarzenegger's life during her "puberty" years. And believe it or not.... she was bullied to just like all of us. It showed me that I'm not alone, but that I am among the many teen age girls today who experience bullying. So 5 stars for this book and go buy it!!! It will be worth the $22 that I paid for it :) :P

This book was a bit thin. The overall message is a positive one, trying to help teen girls improve their self-esteem, and she walks the line between saying accept your body the way it is while still recommending a healthy life style, including eating well, reasonable exercise, etc. I read this to decide whether to give it to my own teen daughter.

This is a must-read for all females- adolescent and above! Very inspirational. Makes you work your brain to have a positive body image- and clues you in if you have a negative body image (and maybe are not even aware)! LOVED IT.

I ordered this book for my library because I have a group of girls who are just in junior high. Junior high was when I started having my body issues and I wanted to have something on the shelves with both information and a positive message. I wanted to read it really just to see what it was about.
It was alright. I think that I would feel okay giving it to my junior high girls. There are a lot of facts and personal stories here that are aimed at making girls feel a little less alone. It reads easily enough. There are special sections just for moms. However, I just found her voice to be a bit annoying. Then again, I am not a 12 year old girl anymore! Another thing that I didn't particularly like was how often Schwarzenegger talks about how normal her life is when it obviously is a bit different than the average girl's.
This would be a great book to give a girl the first time you hear her cut herself down.

This is a great book for teenage girls to read about self image and building self esteem. I would recommend it to every young girl I know if it weren't for the section on birth control. I have no idea why it is in there. I felt that it was out of place and didn't coincide with my feelings on the subject. It's regrettable that it was included in this otherwise sweet book.

This is a great book for teen and pre -teen girls (and their moms!) to read. Upbeat, realistic and postive.

December 16, 2017This is a good book for younger teenagers who don't like their body and don't have a high esteem. I know that it has helped me connect with my inner self.

I really liked this book. It’s geared towards young girls, especially the first half of the book. She talks about getting your period, going through puberty, stuff like that. But I think women could benefit from reading this as well. I liked the second half of the book better, when she started talking about eating disorders, dieting, body image, mean girls, negative self talk, etc. These are issues women struggle with, not just young girls. If you have a daughter or niece, I recommend having them read this.

A Kennedy cannot hold a pencil in its grubby hand without millions of DNA torture prisoners and then they are still incapable of any intellectual process. All they have ever been is an insult to all intelligence on earth. I hope no one wasted their time...
