THE BEASTS OF TARZAN As the rich Lord Greystoke, Tarzan found himself the target of greedy, evil men. Stranded on a desert island, his wife and son kidnapped, Tarzan's plight seemed helpless. But with the help of Sheeta, the ferocious panther, and the great ape Akut, Tarzan crafted his escape with the giant Mugambi. Yet the trail of the kidnappers led deep into the interior--and it would take all of Tarzan's skills to reach his family in time.
THE SON OF TARZAN Tarzan's young son narrowly escaped the wrath of his father's nemesis Paulvitch, and he was forced to flee into the savage African jungles where Tarzan himself had been reared. There the civilized boy would have to learn to face the great beasts and exotic dangers only his father had ever conquered. And as he became known as Korak the Killer--whose legend would rival that of Tarzan--he would learn that the dangers of the jungle were nothing compared to those devised by men . . .
Edgar Rice Burroughs was an American author, best known for his creation of the jungle hero Tarzan and the heroic John Carter, although he produced works in many genres.
More outlandish romance and adventure. Familiar characters, impossible odds, an unbeatable hero. It’s everything one expects from a sequel: Not Much. The now gentrified Tarzan has been lured away from high-society to find his kidnapped child. The culprit is using the child as bait to lure Tarzan back to the jungle. It’s a bit Meh for me. Can’t recommend.
THE BEASTS OF TARZAN: The scene where Tarzan, Sheeta the panther, and a bunch of apes go cruising down the river is a blast. THE SON OF TARZAN: Tarzan’s son, who earns the name Korak the Killer, ends up on his own in the African jungle. Close calls and piles of coincidence ensue. Entertaining, not enlightening.
Two of the books from ‘The Tarzan Series’. Well written, however, overall quite superficial. There were many important issues covered in these books, which I felt were skimmed over. It seemed like these stories are ‘Adult Themed’, but read to children, only touching on different subject matters.
The main two issues with these books is; 1) Distance yourself from the movies which have no relation to the books and 2) The ending and summary happens WAY TOO QUICKLY. Too much is summed up in too short a space of time.
Not a terrible book, but really not necessary. Books one and two are very good, but this one just seemed like a cash grab with no real character development.
Beasts of Tarzan is a good balance between the daring adventures of Tarzan and an emotional character development for Jane.
Son of Tarzan is a more silly tale in which Tarzan's young boy starts to display traits of his father despite having never known his father's jungle background.
2.5 stars. The plot was so hilariously ridiculous. The revenge "plot" was priceless. Structurally this book was poor. But I had some good laughs with it so I can't say I had any ill-will towards it despite the low rating. A must read for a good laugh.
