`I do not like this book because it was not fun or funny at all it didn't get my attention because it is about a woman who is realizing the steps of growing older.

I HIGHLY recommend this book for women of faith who have happened to turn around one day and have the realization that, yes, or, "Oh, NO! I think I've hit middle age. Now what do I do?"
Where did the years go? There is NO denying it, but we have hit that moment in our lives. Some of us may kick and scream as we start, or are going through it, but one look at our grown kids tells us there is NO denying it! Yes, we ARE in our middle years of life, and these are just beginning, but how did this happen to us because it sure feels like it was just yesterday when we were birthing them! This book also tells us how to continue our relationship with our grown adult children. Great advice.
What about 'our' parents? The are now elderly, and it may be time for us to care for them. Yes, this time in our lives makes our parents that much older, too. They may or may not need our help yet, but it's about continuing our relationship with them, too. This is all new territory for us and them, well, for everyone in our lives.
So this leaves us wondering and asking ourselves all kinds of questions such as where did the time go? When did this happen? How did this happen? I am no longer the invincible guru of youth! (My words there!) Now this takes us to wondering just who are we now? Who is this man I'm married to? He sure looks different, too! Gee, I've hit the middle of my life. I've hit all the milestones, so now what's left, where do I go from here and how do I get there? Who am "I" now, really? Along with many more questions that middle age haunts us women with. We look in the mirror and really do not know who is looking back at us. This body of ours has taken on added weight, and we don't know where that came from. So we have added a few extra pounds and our bodies definitely look different, especially our faces! They look like time has taken it’s liberty there! I've done it myself at certain periods of my own life, but now, especially, who am I, what happened to 'me', and where do I go from here?
Some women seem to easily stride into it, and accept it willingly never asking any questions, but I believe the majority of us do quite the opposite and reflect on it much more than that. This is where this book is so helpful. This book has many different women talk about their life's struggles through this change in their lives, and it feels really 'good' to hear that they are feeling the same way we are. Poppy Smith uses just the right amount of humor and also adds Bible quotes and discussion in just the right places as it pertains to us and compares some of the many women in the Bible who also went through the middle life happening. This book gave me a new perspective and a new look at the women in the Bible and the women in the book as we compare ourselves to them. I loved that about this book.
Who thought the Bible could help us with Middle Age? It does, and with the many examples this author gives us, along with other women who speak in this book, it sure made me feel better! We are not alone in this journey, and there have been many others who have done it ahead of us, too. This book shows us we are not alone in this period of our lives, as all women eventually go through it. It's how we envelop it, embrace it, and start to make changes in our lives for what lies ahead. This is one of those books I have highlighted EVERYWHERE! You will, too. You will want to go back and reread certain sections as they pertain to you. This is one book you will keep handy so you can grab it and go back to those sections as they pertain to your life when you need that extra help or pick-me-up. I HIGHLY recommend this book for any of us that realize we are 'there', and we don’t have to do it alone. Yes, we can say the words, “We are middle aged!”

I’m Too Young To Be This Old is aimed at older women who want to rediscover their purpose in God in mid-life. I think that I might be a little younger than the target age group for this book, because while some of it resonated, other parts were less relevant. Perhaps we all adjust to mid-life in different ways or perhaps I'm not quite there yet (please, let that be so!).
As with any good self-help book, each chapter of I’m Too Young to Be This Old finishes with a series of questions. Readers will no doubt benefit from looking up the related Bible verses and answering the questions honestly. But many readers, myself included, are still in denial regarding the possibility of aging, so happily disregard these opportunities for personal reflection.
There is a lot of useful information in I’m Too Young to Be This Old, including a potentially useful list of the symptoms of menopause, along with a suggestion that a woman suffering these symptoms should consult their doctor, as many symptoms can be managed and aren’t simply an inevitable sign of aging that can’t be helped.
While I’m Too Young to Be This Old is a good book for Christian women in this empty-nester age group, it is a reprint of the book originally published in 1997. It has been revised and updated, so it now suggests maintaining relationships with distant grandchildren via Skype. However, other areas could have benefited from more revision. For example, the humorous discussion about cosmetic surgery completely ignores Botox. She also mentions the smoking section of an airplane. Was it that recently that people could smoke on planes? Overall, sound but not exceptional.

The title of the chapters alone will make you want to read this book. Two of them are These Children Are Too Old To Be Mine and Who Is That In The Mirror! As you can see the author has a sense of humor! This book is filled with helpful advice as well as humorous stories to encourage you. I gave this book 5/5 stars. The author does a great job of making women not feel alone while going through those midlife years. She does this by sharing her personal stories and stories from her friends lives. Throughout the book she is consistent with pointing women to the Lord for dealing with difficult circumstances they may encounter while also dealing with the issues of middle age. I thought the book was an enjoyable read and would recommend it for all women, whether you are over 40 or not!

I started to read this book because the back cover said that it was suppose to be funny - well perhaps my funny bone is out of whack because I did not find anything either amusing or interesting. BORING, BORING, BORING, don't know why anyone would bother to publish it.
