Clint Travers and Abby Martin were best friends, until one night he ruined it by taking an unfair advantage. Nearly four years later, Abby comes home with a surprise that changes Clint's life forever! His son! He's always secretly loved Abby, but how can he possibly convince her of it now? His sister-in-law comes up with the only solution, he'll have to Court Abby. And that won't be easy, since Abby has a new boyfriend.
By now most of you know that Rita Hestand is from Texas, that she's a widow, a mother, and a grandmother. You know that she was an only child, and that she traveled the US as a child extensively. What made her a writer was the fact that she was an only child growing up in an age when a kid had to use their imagination to entertain themselves. You probably know that she acted out her first books in the backyard all over the countryside.
Rita worked most of her adult life, but one job she’s especially proud of is as a day care provider in her home for twenty years. Helping to raise her own grandchildren to school age, it seemed only natural to enroll in the Institute of Children's Literature, where she graduated in 1997. Rita writes children's books, poetry and romance, along with plays and short stories.
She's a member of Books We Love, WRW, and a firm believer that learning should never stop. But above all, she believes that one should NEVER GIVE UP!
This is the second book in the Travers brothers series. I did read the first one also. (Chief cook and bottle washer) I enjoyed reading Clint & Abbey's story. It was a fairly quick read. On my nook there is 336 pages. It will be interesting to see what happens to the rest of the brothers as their stories unfold.
Best Friends? Yeah, right, till Clint Travers spoiled it with one night of pent up longing. Now he was paying dearly. Not only had he lost Abby Martin, but now, four years later he was losing his son... Clint knew he had to do something, and quick. But what? Then his savvy sister-in-law came up with a solution. It was simple...all he had to do was...Court Abby
This story was just ok. I have issues when authors include children in the stories. This boy was 3 yrs old yet he spoke and behaved like he was 10. Also, the heroine seemed selfish. She wasn't going to allow the hero to get to know his son. Whatever happened to getting joint custody of children? In the book prior (Cook and Bottle Washer) Emma was worried about the court awarding her cousin to the grandparents. Yet her brother in-law never once spoke of joint custody.
The second of book of series. Clint finds out that he has a son but Abby told her son his father is dead. Abby left home after Clint and her made love and left before she found out she was pregnant. Her father has just died. Abby is almost engaged. Clint has loved h is best friend since high school but her father warned him off. Since the night they slept together Clint has not dated anyone. Its a nice romance.
This was the second book I read in the Travers family series. I was happy the continuation of Deke and Emma' s love story was weaved in.
As for Clint and Abbys love story it did not disappoint. It was a heart breaking tale but I contiuned to cheer through the lumps in my throat. The ending was well worth the read.
