I have been too Rockport, Maine a number of times it is beautiful. Happy reading and have fun 🌙
This is the first book in the series, it introduces the main characters Rachel and Hunter.
Rachel lives in New York, her husband has been gone for 2 years and she has been taking care of herself by stealing. Having nearly been caught, she decides its time to leave New York. She ends up going back to her home town after receiving a text from her mother. She finds an apartment above the old book store to rent, however, it has a stipulation that she reopen it included. There goes her plan to hide out and when she ends up meeting some old friends she realises that she is not going to be able to stay hidden after all, especially not when finding a note in her house informing her she is being watched.
I enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait to find out more about Rachel and the mystery surrounding who is after her.

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I first opened this book, but this was definitely not it. When I first met Rachel I was set to dislike her because of her profession, and what I assumed to be her moral standing, but then I got to see how she interacted with the people around her, and I learned a little more about her and my heart started to soften. By the end of the book, I found myself rooting for her, even though I can't see how this will have the happy ending I'm longing for, and when she starts to see the sheriff I want to both hug, and smack her upside the head. I am definitely going to read the next book and will be waiting on the edge of my seat to find out what happens.

This was a very, very slow burn. I hated it until the last 3 pages.
The end was a nice jolt of excitement after 60 pages of boredom, but I already know what's going to happen throughout the rest of the series because the trope is so obvious that it's painful.
The writing is far too drawn out, it's a complete drag.
Rachel Winters grew up with a father who was a jewelry thief. Now she has picked up where her father left off stealing. Scoping out her latest target of a jewelry store, Rachel notices a woman she thought had been following her. As she replays the conversation in the jewelry store, Rachel gets a sinking feeling of doom and decides it is time to move on. She wants to start a new life and stay under the radar so she moves back to her hometown and purchases a quaint bookshop. Her plans are interrupted when she runs into her first love who happens to be the sheriff. After spending the evening with Hunter, she comes home to find her apartment door open and a threatening note.
What a delightful read to a new series. The plot and characters were well-written and made you feel like you knew them. This was a fast-paced mystery that grabbed my attention and will keep any reader completely engaged. I highly recommend the series.

This series is in installments and this book does not have a resolution.
Rachel Winters is on the move after noticing a woman following her from one jewelry store to another. Rachel is certain she is on the verge of being detained, so, despite her estranged relationship with her mother, heads to her hometown to lay low.
She takes up residence in one of her best childhood memories - the local bookshop. The rent is low, but a stipulation is that she needs to reopen the bookstore as part of her lease.
As she settles into setting up shop, she can almost forget about her secret life...

Sage Parker has nailed it once again, this time with a jewelry thief turned bookstore owner?! Yes, please!
One of my favorite things about Sage's books is that she always has them situated in a beach town. Rachel may have started off in sunny Los Angeles, but she made it back home to Rockport, Massachusetts where she rents a teeny apartment that has the best view of the beach from the tiny bedroom's big window. Imagine waking up every morning to seeing the water lazily flow to and fro, the gorgeous skyline for miles and miles...
Rachel's on the run, but it's hard to tell who she is more scared of - her mother, who keeps messaging her and won't leave her alone, or law enforcement. But she also runs into a man, Hunter, she used to have a crush on when she was a teen, and then her childhood best friend, Alice, who has the family that Rachel has always longed for, and wonders if sticking around for good would be a bad thing...
I can't wait to see how this serial plays out. Parker's books are perfect for my ADHD and I love snuggling up in bed with my cat & kindle while meeting my goal of reading for at least 20 minutes a day.
I did notice some errors that could easily be remedied by another quick round of editing, but did not detract from the book whatsoever.
DISCLAIMER: I requested, and received, a review copy of The House Above the Bookshop from Booksprout. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
So I am being asked to review The House above the Bookshop but starting with book 3. Because I have to know what is going on I found a great deal on books one and 2 for .99 each. I absolutely love Sage Parker's books and find her stories which are mostly written in series mode to be very entertaining and easy to read because each story is short but leads to the next story and then the whole series which is a good size book. We start by being introduced to Rachel and find out that she grew up in the town of Rockport where she feels she will be safe to hide out. Her mother knows where she is and her husband has disappeared and she does not know who or what happened to him so when she finds a home above the bookshop for 500.00 a month she feels like it is meant to be. This is the shop she spent many hours in as a young girl and loved to read. The only catch to the apartment being so cheap is that she must reopen the store and manage it for the couple who own it. They have gotten to old but still want the shop open. Rachel agrees to this deal but as we continue to read we are not sure she should have. On to book 2, will let you know tomorrow what is going on.
Rachael is casing out a jewellery store and she realizes that someone is stalking her. She decides the best solution is to get out of town before she is arrested.
While packing her mother calls. She has been avoiding her mother since she left home.
Needing to leave right away she goes back to the home town she grew up in to lay low.
Looking for an affordable place to live, she stumbles on one but there is a stipulation. She must open and run the long forgotten book store that was in the lower level of this building.
Weighing her odds she decides to take the apartment.
This is the first book in the House Above the Bookstore Series which introduces the primary characters and establishes the main plot. Rachel, who has carried out some jewelry heists in order to pay a debt she owes returns to her home of Rockport to hide out, and Hunter Brooks, the sheriff of Rockport who Rachel once unofficially dated. Rachel and Hunter are still attracted to each other but he does not know about her secret past. The book ends in a suspenseful cliffhanger.

The story drags you in immediately but the read is fast & then it stops. I don’t like how Sage’s books always stops mid- story. Book 1 was just an introduction.
I like her writing but her abrupt end of one book just leaves me dissatisfied. I read a lot of series & most (all) are not like this. I would rate her work a lot higher if each book could stand alone. However, when you finish the last word pick up the next one & it’s almost like it’s the next sentence from the previous.
A fast pace mystery with a jewelry thief, a missing husband, and childhood friends that are now grown up. Returning to her hometown, Rachel, a jewelry thief who appears to be on the run, finds a new home and begins to set up her new business. Reconnecting with old friends brings back many fond memories until she returns home one evening to find a cryptic note.

I've read a lot of books written by Sage Parker; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the first book in the Rockport Secret Series; it is the beginning of a new series. The story continues in the next book and needs to be read in order. The story is about Rachel & Hunter; they reconnect after she moves back to hometown after her husband disappears.

As with her other books, this is a winner for Sage Parker. The beginning of the book hooked me in at page one. The main character, Rachel, finds she needs to “disappear” for awhile and decides to go to a place she hasn’t visited in 20 years, home. The story line is fantastic and I can’t wait for the next installment!.

A new series by Sage Parker. Rachel is a jewel thief and planning a Big heist. She wants to be able to quit but hasn’t figured out how without the big break. She decides to go back to her hometown for a new start. When she arrives back in Rockport an opportunity arrives that she doesn’t feel she can turn down. *Cliffhanger.

So we are off to a great start with Rachel’s story! A mystery, a jewel thief and a missing husband all sounds like the start of a bad joke but i assure you it’s not. Rachel’s husband has been kidding a while and she needs to lie low so heads back to Rockport where she hasn’t been in a really long time and rents the local bookshop and reopens it. It a great start to this and I look forward to the next instalment.
Sage Parker starts the story with some questionable ideas. She suspects that everyone is on to her. Her mom urges her to come back home. She finds a great place but part of the deal is to reopen the bookstore. She comes back to her apartment and some named Spike left her a note. I can't wait to see who Spike is and what he wants.

I have enjoyed this author's books and this one got my attention right away. I started reading and didn't want to stop. The book had some interesting things going on with the main character, Rachel, returning to her hometown after leaving a life of sealing items for a living. She wants to hide and chooses her hometown. She reconnects with an old friend and things start to heat up. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
This is the start of Rachel's story. Rachel finds herself in a life of games and danger. As a thief she is always looking for the next score and watching her back. This leads her back to her hometown and to a start she did not expect. Opening the bookstore.
This is a fast start to the story and will leave you wanting to know what is next.

I loved the book as Sage always writes good books!A jewel thief returning to her old hometown and opening a bookstore! She runs into some of the kids she went to school with! Sheriff, mattress store owner,Dr and as always you can never get to what’s coming fast enough! It’s a mystery but, not spooky scary and I definitely recommend this book and starting book 2 in 2 seconds! I received this book as an ARC but, this is an honest review!
This book was a quick short read. I like the way it is going for the young lady who is on the run from some past misdeeds but finds a low priced rental above a bookstore with the stipulation that is she will restore the old bookstore she can live there dirt cheap. So she decided to give it a try & she decided to leave her former life of crime & settle in. I was sad it was so short but I get the reason - buy next book! All in all a good book.
What a wonderful adventure this is going to be. Rachel has her secrets and I hope in time they will be revealed. Another great book from Ms Parker in what I know will be a great series to read. Looking forward to the next book.

Great start to a new series! The author introduces Rachel who is a jewel thief on the run. Thinking to lay low she goes back to her hometown where she meets up with some of her old school friends. It's an intriguing story, especially with the surprise ending. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Sage Parker is back again with a heartwarming story of second chances set in a lovely beach town. I love the small town charm and amazing characters. A beach, book shop and a handsome town sheriff... this is going to be an exciting new series.

Secrets are never hidden. They eventually come out. There is some Intrigue in this story and interesting characters to help with the story. Rekindled love is always interesting to read as the characters reconnect. But the secrets May hinder that. Good read.

Another book that is, for some reason, divided into three or more “books” which should be labeled as chapters. I don’t know whether this is to enable an author to collect income as they write or whether reader’s ability to concentrate is so limited. Either way I discontinue reading as soon as I discover this.
