She’s stalking her prey… He dreams of being caught.
Shifter Kaine Giliati fell for human John Simmons from the moment they met. But when he discovered the truth about who—and what—she is, he willingly agreed to wipe all memory of her from his mind. The pain in her heart is only magnified by terror—the ability to call her wolf appears to have deserted her, as well.
For months after he and his sister escaped a crazed kidnapper, John has been dreaming about a beautiful woman he’s never met but who seems so familiar. A woman he’s shocked to find in a dark bar one night. A woman who agrees to come back to his apartment for raw, passionate sex.
One erotic, stolen night uncovers buried memories and reopens old wounds. John had agreed to wipe his memory to keep his younger sister safe but he never wanted to forget Kaine. And now that she’s back in his life, John won't give Evie up a second time, even though both of the women in his life are now targets of an ancient evil.

Edge of Moonlight picks up where Moonlight Ménage leaves off. Kaine is heartbroken after John, a human, willingly agrees to have his memories wiped after the events leading up to his sister’s capture and exposure to the Lucani. Smokinhot Cliff Note: In book #2 Kaine and John meet when his sister Evie was kidnapped. Horrified when he finds out that Kaine is a werewolf he shoots her (that bastard!). Forbidden to make any contact with him, Kaine can’t stop thinking about him until fate decides to intervene.
Meanwhile John is having odd, erotic dreams about a woman with multi-colored hair. After a crap day he winds up at a local bar, only to see the woman he has been dreaming about.
All Kaine wants is just one night with John only their hot hanky panky sessions begins to unravel the memory spell on John and he starts to remember…
This is the most emotionally gripping out of the 3 and my favorite so far. If you’ve read Kiss of Moonlight and Moonlight Ménage , Edge of Moonlight stands out ahead of its class. Stephanie Julian really hit all my hot buttons:
1. Humor
2. Just the right about of relationship emotional angst ie not too much, not too little, just right.
3. Suspense
There is quite a lot going on in this latest installment so I’m going to diagram it all out for you. I’m talking flow charts, excel spreadsheets, and pie charts (nah, just making sure ya’ll are awake).
- Kaine suddenly in unable to shift after her night with John
- Evie (Johns sister) unleashes her unstable powers and only the wolves can help her
- John starts to remember…everything
- Knowing John will be disgusted with her after he ‘remembers’ she is a wolf; she decides to go after Evie’s kidnappers to make it all right.
Edge of Moonlight is my favorite out of the series. Kaine is one of my favorite types of heroines to read about; funny, self deprecating, and a lady that can and likes to kick a little ass. At times I got a little lump in my throat over her worry when John would find out about her being wolf and his interest would turn to disgust. And there were times when I got a little turned on when they had hot, passionate nookie on the kitchen table. Edge of Moonlight has all the right erotic ingredients and I’m looking forward to Lucani wolves books.

P.S. Isn’t the cover? Why can’t I have bangs like that….
Kaine and John have a past. But only Kaine remembers it because John had all memory of her wiped from his mind. An act that nearly shattered Kaine's heart. Months later... after a chance meeting and one steamy night together, both of their lives will be forever changed.
This was a great read. I'm loving the series. The mixture of wolves and magic makes for a fun read. John and Kaine were great characters to read about. Our heroes of this story are perfect for one another. Full of depth and stubborn as hell. Needless to say they both have issues that need to be worked out. Edge of Moonlight is magical and dangerous. An erotic tale of heartache, love and acceptance. Sexy and fast-paced. I love how well the paranormal and fantasy meshes together. John and Kaine's story is a stellar addition to this series.
I was asked to review this book by the author ~ all thoughts expressed here are my own.
I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said....
Kaine and John's story...
This story is leaving off right where Moonlight Menage left off...
Nic and Duke's partner, Kaine, was injured while trying to save/protect two eteri's *humans* from the deranged red headed villain. The one thing that she could not protect was her heart. Falling for John was not the wisest or smartest decision she ever made. But can you stop a heart from falling in love??
John was just trying to protect his sister; from what or who he had no idea. He just knew that he needed to protect her. But being caged like an animal and drugged was no help to her. Then a wolf entered the picture and tried to rescue him and his sister. Only the wolf is a woman.. After the ordeal was over, John and his sister insisted to have their memory erased of all that happened with Kaine and her family. No memory was better than the memories ~ or was it?
Kaine is my favorite kinda woman... bad ass: kick ass now, ask questions later kinda of woman. She does not take crap from anyone. Her job requires her to not take it from anyone. She works along side the elite of her clan. A team of assassins; working strictly for their King. So whatever you do, do not piss her off. But this is where my love for her grows, on the other hand, she is simply a woman at heart. She craves love just like the rest of us; her problem is that the love she craves is from someone she should not love. There is a pull about John that she cannot shake. No matter if his has no memory of her, no matter if he has up and left with his sister and never wanted to be found again. She is a born tracker, she could find him easily if she wanted too. But she has orders to stay away. She heeded those orders.
But there is always a straw that broke the camels back... We all have had days like this. Kaine, a born Lucani (wolf) ~ “skin shifter”, could not shift anymore. After the first incident with John, she could not shift. That is like telling her she could not breath. That cut Kaine deep, so deep ~ she had to seek out help. At least that is what her intentions were. Until she learned more screwed up information. Not only could she not love the man she wanted to love, his memory wiped clean of her - by his choice, she could not shift, she also learned that she was not who she thought she was, learned that her mother abandoned her to her father and died not long after that and she discovered that she picked up a new power... You wanna talk about a day from hell.
A drink.. that was what the day called for. Just a drink.. or two.. or three... just enough to allow all this to go away is what Kaine thought. She headed down to the bar to escape for a little while...
John was having the worst days of his life. His sister is scare of her own shadow, they are on the run and he has no clue from who or what, he keeps having these freaking hot ass dreams of this woman who will not escape his mind, he has to get a job that he does not want and his sister is close to having a meltdown from all the weird stuff that is happening to her. Being an ex Navy Seal, you think he could protect her right. I think that pisses him off even more. There is nothing he could do to bring his sister back to life, the life she had before the kidnapping. Day from hell... you think... A drink.. One drink.. and a shot of something strong.
One bar, one drink (okay, maybe two or three), two world collide and nothing good can come of it. One remembers everything, one cannot remember anything... John knows he has seen this woman before; he just knows it in his gut and deep in his soul. He has to know..."Have I met you before?"
Only in Kaine dreams would John remember her. But here he stands - live in the flesh asking her if they have ever met. Should she just blow him off... or.... take what is being offered. One night.. one chance to touch, to kiss, to caress, to be with him... One night and walk away. Sounds easy, right??
This is a very intriguing tale of two people who loves has to really conquer all. Ms. Julian does an awesome job at delivering the most erotic, hot, delicious scenes possible. She is keeping to the root of the story (imo) ~ family. That is the heart of these stories. I mean, each character finding his/her love/mate is the storyline... but family is key here. Their community is very tight knit. And that is one factor that I love about this series. I absolutely love that about Ms. Julian's writing style. They don't just pop in and out of the story... they are weaved in a way that you know they are there for each other ~ through thick and thin.
Okay, my only peeve is I NEED more information on the villan. That is my only problem with this series so far... I want more info on the bad ass woman that keeps kidnapping people. Other than that.. this is another scorcher of a story from Ms. Julia.
I started this story at 10 o'clock Sunday night and finished it at 2 in the morning Monday! Yeah, it is that good... and of course you just have to know what happens... Awesome job Ms. Julian!!! And of course she left us hanging for the next one... And I will bug her till I have that one in my hands, lol!!!
EDGE OF MOONLIGHT is my third visit to this Lucani world of Ms Julian and if truth be told this is my favourite book of the series so far.
After leaving us in a will she, when will he situation in the last book MOONLIGHT MENAGE, I was pleased Ms. Julian started this book relatively within a few month after I had left the team. Kaine one of the Lucani assassin is struggling, she wants the man who can’t remember her, yet she wants to be her own woman and be strong above else.
Kaine is a part of a tight knitted team that protect the Lucani, she is a team player and she has learned over the years that she has very little secrets from her two male team members who just happens to be married to the same woman. With this sort of combo in the house where they all live Kaine compartmentalises alot since “The Incident” and this does not sit well with not only her team mates but her friends as well.
When her parental history rears it’s head with some surprising result, Kaine is packed off for the night to find out about her past so to speak and as luck or misfortune depending on who you ask would have it she meets up with John. The one man she has been trying so hard to not exactly forget but at least find a way of dealing with the emotion that is swirling around inside of her because of him.
John feels something is different about him, not in a bad way but more of a “just there and out of my reach sort of way”, however with a sister that he is worried about as well as trying to keep it together at the job where he works he has no time for his life to go haywire. Which is exactly what it does when he meets his dream woman at a bar.
John, Kaine and John’s sister has a few hours left of normality once John meets Kaine – because a whole lot is about to change, some good and some definately not so good and it all centres around Kaine.
I really like EDGE OF MOONLIGHT, it is a faster book than the previous two books in the series, probably because I was really looking forward to seeing how this romance panned out between John and Kaine and the author certainly didn’t disappoint me.
I liked Kaine alot she was not only a gutsy chic but she never played the girl thing and she rolled with the punches. Her heart and her genetics however had something to say about her tough girl stance and this alone really set this book in motion.
Just by meeting her, John sister has an almost instant reaction which set not only the whole team but the whole book moving. We get new characters being introduced as well and through her eyes I got the chance to revisit Nic, Tira and Duke, the three people I was hoping Ms. Julian would revisit in this book.
John was likable and he does have some move on him when it comes to the smexing. While John wants to be all and everything to his sister and eventually Kaine, he was really limited by the amount of info he knew and eventually had access to. He played his part well and was quite assertive once he made up his mind about what and who he wanted – which is Kaine.
This book was a much more straight forward book and with little burst of action here and there and some well timed angst, I ended up really enjoying EDGE OF MOONLIGHT. If I had a niggle it would be that after two books I really now need some solid info on the bad guys/woman. While she and her probably circumstances is not in the shadow anymore – I am still really wanting to know some of the WHY’s.
Bottom line
After two books The Lucani Lovers Series is only getting better, I am comfortable with the people I am meeting in this world, some of them to be honest feels like old friends. The world building keeps on growing, getting darker and more intense with each release and in a good way may I add.
The scenes in EDGE OF MOONLIGHT are crisper as well, less fluffing around, this obviously might be a niggle for some readers, but I found I quite like the fact that Ms Julian cut right to the chase, emotion flowed, and even the few testosterone filled moment were very bearable.
There is no clear indication of who will be the next couple to be under Ms. Julian’s pen in this series, but I am hoping it is Cat who is one of my favourite characters in this series.
I received this book as a review copy from Stephanie and I knew the moment I finished the last book, Midnight Menage, that I would love this book. I really like that Mrs. Julian's stories are so directly connected and you can immediately get back into the mood of her stories. Her writing just flows exactly right for me and I loved every second of the dive into her world.
This story is about Kaine who we already met in the last book. She completely fell in love with John in Moonlight Menage and my heart broke for her when he decided to forget everything about her. I can't start to imagine how that must have felt but it's not the only thing that is messed up in her life: she just can't shift and that scares her half to death. What good is a professional assassin without this ability not even to mention what the guys will say when they learn that the only girl in their group can't even do that. She is shattered and helpless in her current situation. You know these characters in books you like ASAP and you know that you would totally get friends with them- Kaine is one of those characters for me. I liked her attitude and the way she handled her life. I saw myself in her liking to be with the guys and she really fit into the story.
John is a wonderful person. He is strong, an alpha at heart but also very caring and just all in all a lovely person. He wouldn't like to hear that but I like him. He wants nothing more than his little sister being safe, okay perhaps there is one thing. *wink* After losing his memories of the lucani in the last book he is not as clueless as we all thought. He dreams about Kaine and when he meets the group again he feels like he knows them. He is a rather hands on, believe only what you see kind of man and it is hard for him to grasp the whole magic world at first but he tries his best. He knows how the odds are and he is not too stupid to accept help when he gets an offer. He is also highly attracted to Kaine and OMG every girl should have her own John. Good for your ego.
These two just belong to each other. The attraction is sizzling form the start and I begged for them to just give this thing a chance. They are so good together, and yes every pun intended. I loved the way they talked and all the other things they did, too. Mrs. Julian's sex scenes are wonderfully written. I love the way she makes them work- very erotic and romantic at onces.
The plot in this installment was thrilling and suspenseful. I was gripped by the story nearly from the start and all the humor and wit on the way made this read more than just enjoyable. It is exactly the right mix of fun, emotion, smex and action. At some points the world was still a bit confusing for me but thanks to the glossary I wasn't lost long. This world is highly fascinating so I really didn't mind that at all.
Highly recommended shifter series and I have to say I can't wait for the next book. 4 1/2 of 5 stars
As I finished reading Seduced by Two a few months ago I was left with a feeling of I want more of this series and that storyline. As I read Moonlight Menage I felt like it was a continuation, the pursuit of the woman who was behind Tira’s kidnapping had been picked up. I was pleased to see that continue with Edge of Moonlight. I also loved the familiar faces of the characters from the previous books. Readers get to see not only Lucani Lovers, but also some memorable faces from the Magical Seduction series.
I had some issues with Edge of Moonlight. I’m guessing the largest one was me. I just could not get into this one. I liked the characters Kaine and John individually. As a couple they put off huge amonts of sexual tension (always a must in any good romance.) They later heat up the pages with some scorching sex scenes (always a must in any good erotic book.) I just didn’t grasp the relationship that built between them. The overall theme/conflict of the series remained the same. They are still trying to figure out who the evil is behind the kidnappings. I think John’s sister Evie and her mess took away some of the focus of John and Kaine. That did however allow for the buildup for her story, the next book.
I of course will continue reading the series. I am very curious to see how a character and her son play into the kidnapping plot. I also think Evie and her situation are going to be a highly entertaining read. (Sorry for the vagueness there, trying not to give spoilers.)
Favorite Quote: This first time had taken off some of the edge but she still wanted him. Would always want him.
Wolf shifter Kaine Giliati has never forgotten John Simmons. Even after he agreed to the memory wipe to forget her. As Kaine pines for John, her heart frozen in pain, she is also dealing with not being able to shift to wolf. For months John Simmons has been dreaming of a beautiful woman. One that speaks to his heart though he is sure he has never met her. Then one night he sees her in a bar. And she agrees to come home with him. One night of raw erotic passion opens up the doorway to John's memories and sets him on a path of magic, danger, and love.
Edge of Moonlight is the third installment in the Lucani Lovers series. Kaine Giliati is an Etruscan shifter. An assassin in the Lycan king's army. In Moonlight Ménage (book 2 in the Lucani Lovers series) Kaine helped save John and his sister Eve from kidnappers and fell hard for John. But John could not deal with the supernatural world and and choose to have his and Eve's memories wiped clean. This broke Kaine's heart but she understood and let go.
Another great book to add to this series. I think that Kyle and Tamra (from the first book) are still my favourite characters though. Kaine was great. I really believed her feeings for John. How hurt she was that he chose to have his memory wiped of her and all things paranormal,so he and his sister could atleast attempt to get back to normal after they had been kidnapped. But no such luck. After some bad news, Kaine goes to a bar to drown her sorrows. There she sees John. Knowing that she should stay away but she can't help herself when he comes over to talk to her, they end up going back his his place. A few incredibly hot scenes later Kaine comes to her senses and tries to leave while John sleeps. Knowing that her commander Kyle would already be seriously pissed if he found out about that night. But she bumps into his sister Eva on the way out the door and soon realises that Eva is different now. Kaine can sense Magic all over her. But why? Even though John is the first human hero, I have to say that I didn't even notice. He is such a strong, stubborn man that he fits in perfectly with the rest of them. One character that I have to mention is Sal. Half man, half goat! He was just hillarious at times. I hope we get to see him again in the next book.
I really loved this story. Kaine was just the perfect amount of vulnerable female and strong warrior. I wasn't sure what to expect because what John did in the previous book hurt her so badly. I wasn't sure how mad to be at him and how he was going to 'redeem' himself in the readers' eyes. I know he was just being protective of his sister and trying to assimilate everything that he had learned. But Kaine was so terribly hurt I wasn't sure how they would get past it.
It was perfectly written. He immediately felt a closeness with her and even before he had his memories back, he was amazingly bonded to her and extremely protective of her. The alpha male was alive and well and just so delicious! Loved it!! Their fears and struggles throughout the story were still very present, but it was so smoothly written that it all made perfect sense and it also kept you so connected with all the other characters that we love so much.
Stephanie Julian's "Edge of Moonlight" delivers a heart pounding, passionate, action filled, thrill ride. What I enjoyed about this book is how Stephanie captures the essence of Kaine and John's undying love and passion for one another. Great Job Stephanie!
This is book 3 in the Lucani Lovers series. This story is bout John,a Navy Seal. And Kaine,a Lucani Assassin. John was in the last book and chose to have his memory erased so he didn't know Kaine when he saw her again . She was in love with him so she pretended not to know him for a one night stand. Just to have him look at her as a woman not a monster. They are trying to find the woman who gave John's sister Evie magical powers. All hell breaks lose in Central Park as a life or death battle insues . The book leaves you asking" what he heck just happened?" I'm looking forward to the next book.
I have no idea why Ms Julian is not on the NY time best sellers list, along with a few of my other fav's like JR ward, and Lora Leigh! I just love all her stories!!!
I love this series and the author is really entertaining. The story is well organized with no slow or draggy spots. I really love this book. I recommend this book to family and friends.
These just keep getting better and better. Just like John's self conscious knew Kaine belonged to him, but he had a hard time processing everything. Poor Kaine almost lost her wolf because she was heartbroken. Good thing fates has never steered them wrong.
The Lucani Lovers is a six-book steamy paranormal romance series that was re-edited and, in some cases, rewritten, and republished in February 2016.
Kaine Giliati is an elite solder shifter. After rescuing the human John Simmons, she realized he was her mate, and she longed to be with him. Yet when John saw Kaine shift and he learned the Lucani secrets, he chose to have his memories wiped so he could walk away. Now Kaine misses him even though nothing ever happened between the pair.
John and his sister, Evangeline, were kidnapped in the last story, and now his memories of how he escaped are fuzzy, and his dreams are haunted by a beautiful woman. When he sees the woman of his dreams in a bar, he thinks he might be crazy, but takes her home anyhow.
Picking up when the previous book left off, Edge of Moonlight continues the story about a mysterious person who has been kidnapping humans with Etruscan blood. The story deepens with the reappearance of Evangeline, who’s slight magical abilities have grown exponentially and out of control. I have been enjoying this story from the beginning, and I was glad to see so much progress on finding out who is behind the kidnappings, as well as the motives. However, I felt the entire story fell flat. The motivation behind the kidnappings was tenuous, and in the end, the perpetrator was equally as weak.
John and Kaine’s romance was fiery hot, and filled with passion. While the pair experienced some of the paranormal insta-love, there were complications and bumps in the road. Unfortunately, much of their trouble could have been avoided with any sort of open communication.
In the end, I enjoyed reading Edge of Moonlight, but I would have liked a more concrete story around the mysterious kidnapper. Kaine and John’s romance was enjoyable, but I wished they’d been a bit more open with one another.
My Rating: B- Liked It -- But I had a few small issues
