A lovely large text to read aloud or to give to beginning readers. The photographs are beautiful. The book follows a consistent pattern: on the left-hand page, the reader sees two short sentences and, on the right, a large photo. The following nonfiction text features are present: Table of Contents, four chapters, a glossary, "Read More" (Bibliography), directions for accessing information from the Internet, and an index. However, because the text sections are themselves so short, there are no subheadings. While the pictures are wonderful, I regret that there were not more views of lions' natural habitat (African savanna/savannah). This may not be the best text to use for research tasks. The reading level is identified as K-1.

I really liked this picture book. It's always fun learning about animals we aren't associated with. I think Lions are beautiful and this book had some great pictures of them. I think it was a fun book to look at!

My 6 year old son recently borrowed this book from his school library. The book describes where lions live, how they eat, and how they stay safe. There are large, colorful photographs to go along with the information on each page.
