^^EVERYTHING IS ALL GOOD WITH THIS BOOK!^^

There are so many wonderful things I loved about this book, at first I was unsure about where the author was going but in the end it was written splendidly. For me this book was relatable on so many levels, the young characters, the feeling of being stuck in a place they want desperately to get out off, and also being unsure of what the heck they want to do with their lives. It was fun, sweet, and all kinds of sexy. I still have a smile on my face.

Chris Bennett is one of many students who decide to take a year of school before heading out to college/university to do a little life exploring, only his year is turning into two and he is still unsure of how to progress. Working at a pool as a lifeguard, his life is pretty much a routine and is love life is in the same disarray. Chris is feeling good though because the guy he has been fooling around with is back in town after leaving for college, and he is feeling that this might be it. He might actually go all the way, all naked and everything. From the first kiss, followed by a night he would never forget, Chris is hoping that his feelings might be reciprocated.

All is not well in Chris land when he realizes that the guy he likes will never accept his feelings, and he is just sick and tired of being used. When a surprise trip leads to a heartbreaking realization. Chris turns to his sexy neighbour Alex. What begins as a true friendship, turns into hot blistering lust, it’s a great feeling for Chris to actually want someone else, and what might have begun as friends with benefits is becoming so much more. Once again Chris might be falling for someone looking for a quick hook-up but the vibe he is getting is saying that it is something more.

I enjoyed that all three guys are young guys, and their troubles are believable. Chris is just splendid his character truly thinks and act like a nineteen year old boy. He is undecided about life, scared of venturing off to the unknown and I found myself being able to relate to his trials. That is one of the many awesome things about this book. Its also actually quite funny, the inner turmoil of the characters was wonderfully written and I loved how they always seem to be constantly berating themselves in their heads.

There is three POVs and it so totally works, you get a strong sense of all the characters and you understand them a whole lot better. When it came to Seth ( this is the bastard friend who was fooling around with Chris), I was glad that we got to see things from his side, you just cannot dislike him. He is a scared young man, who has no idea about his sexuality; and there is this guy he is attracted to and that is freaking the crap out him. For me with Seth it was never about Chris, it was about him finally coming to understand that he might actually like men and he has no clue what to do about it. This is why the book was just so good, it’s realistic when it came to emotions and I have to give credit where credit is due.

All the characters are likable, Alex is a dream and he is also young, the oldest of the bunch but with still a lot to learn. This book is a discovery of what is important and what its like to fall in love, whether it be the first or second time around. The sex is hot, the chemistry between characters is off the chain, and I just found it so refreshing, it is a perfect summer read. I am hoping for a sequel because I want more Seth and I want to meet the guy who will lead him to find himself, and I think I might already know him. Just a very sweet book and I will be watching out for this author, I expect big things from Rachel West if her books continue to shine like this. Everything Under the Sun will give you warm fuzzies.

I am so happy that Chris ended up with the right guy, good choice. The other outcome would have been a huge disaster in the long run. They make one hot couple, these two are sexy and actually really care deeply for each other and they definitely know how to have fun! Great story and nicely written with some misunderstandings and confusion about love and sex but that's all part of growing up. Lovely and a recommended read!

It's hard to provide a clear review when I'm still doing happy dances over the ending!

This ticks off all my must haves for a 5 star - believable characters, a story that's not predictable, romance that's written well and not too gushy, hot hot hot sex scenes (if i could give an extra star for including kitchen sex I would!), dialogue that makes you laught out loud, interesting side characters that drive the story, a little angst that you know will not be dragged out too long and a satisfying ending that again, is believable and not rushed.

Alex is the jaded, slightly older, next door neighbour who doesn't believe in love or boyfriends. Chris is the boy just out of high school, has yet to work out what he wants in life and wants the fooling around with his buddy Seth go to the next stage.

Rachel West writes with a style that draws you into the character's world immediately and allows you to feel all their emotions, good and bad, sometimes so much so that you want to get a couple of their heads and smash them together! The heat she draws out of the sex scenes is palpable and leaves you wanting to be a couch/carpet/kitchen island in your next life.

I can't wait for her next offering.

This was such a good story. I loved the characters, well except for one *coughs - Seth*. It's one of the first love stories that I found myself unsure about who I wanted the main character to end up with - at least for a while. I think he made the right choice and wow, they're a stunning match for each other. The angst and humor and romance all just went together so well. Another fave to add to my fave list.

This was a really good story for me. I felt it was well written and I liked all the characters, even though I wanted to slap them all upside the head a couple of times for being dumb. To me, the author did a good job in keeping me wondering who would end up with who in the end, even though I was pretty sure I knew the answer. Parts were really sweet and you could see the love developing even though the characters weren't really acknowledging what was going on. Not heavy on angst and just an enjoyable read for me.

It's been a year since Chris graduated from high school and he hasn't yet decided what to do with his life. He works as a lifeguard, still lives with his mother and has a non-existent love life. But he's hoping at least the last part will change now that his friend Seth is coming home from college for the summer. Before Seth left they had fooled around a bit and Chris hasn't been able to forget what it felt to kiss and hold his friend. But he also hasn't forgotten how freaked out Seth got after their last time together so he's not sure how things will go.

When they see each other it's awkward at first but then Seth surprises Chris with a kiss and soon they're getting hot and heavy. Seth's doubts and insecurities resurface once again and their relationship becomes strained. Things change for Chris in a big way though when he begins hanging out with Alex, his new neighbor. Alex is seven years older and super hot and despite being sure that the other man is straight Chris can't help his attraction to the older man. They bond over video games and soon are spending time together as their friendship grows.

Then Chris learns that Alex is gay and that the attraction is mutual. At this point he's falling for Alex but still has feelings for Seth. As for Seth, he's having a hard time dealing with his feelings for Chris and what that means as far as his sexuality. And Alex, while becoming more and more attracted to Chris is determined to keep things casual. Badly hurt by his previous boyfriend he's sure that love is not for him despite what his heart is trying to tell him. These different men will spend the summer loving, hurting and growing. As relationships grow and change an unexpected love surprises all three of them.

Everything Under the Sun was a wonderfully entertaining story. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and look forward to reading more of her works in the future. The three protagonists are well drawn, interesting men although they are not without flaws. The fact that each character's POV is shown gives the reader a chance to get to know them all instead of just focusing on one. This helped to make Seth a more sympathetic character as we saw him agonize over his feelings and insecurities and showed how Alex changes as he comes to term with his past and allows himself to open up to a new love.

The book has an interesting plot and held my attention throughout as I wondered who would be Chris' choice in the end. The pace and flow of the story worked well and the book never dragged nor felt rushed. The secondary characters are good additions as each helped further the storyline in some way. Despite the book cover giving the impression of a possible menage with three men on the cover the story has no menage scenes. Without giving out the important detail of just who Chris chooses I will say that I was completely satisfied with his choice as their chemistry was undeniable and their sex scenes smoking hot.

I enjoyed reading this well written and engaging story. There are touches of humor throughout the book, a bit of angst and soul searching, the sweetness of a new relationship, hot sex and a romantic HEA ending. I definitely recommend it.

I am going to buy this paperback it is just that good. I was confused a few times by the names. Alex and Chris obviously are not very similar but being the same amount of letters and very common names it was easy to get them mixed up for me. Apperently for the author too as a scene or two had flip flopped charachters. Example - in a baseball scene Alex had gone to the batting cages right from work so he bought a new tee shirt and changed from his work botton down. The next scene it is on Chris. Chris is stated to have gotten better at unbuttoning Alexs shirt and removing his tie.. it was just a tiny bit confusing a time or two but not even close enough of a flub to take off any part of the 5 stars! It wa a great book, great writing and I will read it again for sure.
I would love to read about Seth and how he (hopefully) gets over himself! lol

Rachel West's debut novel is a really sweet and sexy summer read. The three main characters are all interestingly different and develop through the course of the narrative; there is plenty of hot sex, but always in service of the plot; and just enough tension to make you want to keep turning the pages. Everyone is very likeable - even the antagonist, who is really just confused and a little spoilt - and Alex is a particularly loveable character.

I think, as an example of a low-angst romance this is probably worthy of five stars, but as I only give out the five stars to stories that really grab me and pull me in, I had to award four. As a rule I look for more tension in a narrative, but I did really enjoy reading this.

Despite the amount of heavy sex-skimming I had to do, this was a very enjoyable read. I like it when authors write dialogue that actually sounds the way real people talk.

This is a cute story with some well crafted characters but lost some of my attention with all the sex scenes. I found my mind wandering with sex scene after sex scene that didn’t actually advance the relationships or the story. This is definitely a story where great sex leads to an emotional connection because the men simply don’t want to give up the best sex of their lives. This isn’t a bad thing necessarily and certainly realistic, especially so as the men do develop an emotional connection eventually. I just found all the sex too much and wanted more of the story but depending what you’re looking for (ie. you want something with a lot of sex and emotion) this may not bother you.

The story revolves around young Chris Bennett; a nineteen year old lifeguard trying to figure out his life. He’s torn between his old friend, closeted Seth and new neighbor hunky Alex. Seth is only just figuring out his sexuality so his confusion, panic, and fear color his attraction to Chris. Similarly Alex is recovering from a nasty breakup and determined not to get involved with a “boyfriend” again. While the sex with Alex is amazing, Chris wants something more, something deeper and his crush with Seth is familiar, if frustrating. Deciding between two attractive men who want him, for different reasons, is not easy for young Chris.

The story is definitely character driven, which is good since the men are well drawn as flawed and complex people. Here the writing really shines in depicting all three men as sympathetic and interesting. Seth is nominally the bad guy since he’s jealous of Chris and Alex but really the great writing shows how confused and scared he is. Just figuring out his sexuality and not sure what it means or what to do, Seth is not a bad guy but merely at a turning point in his life. His friendship with a female friend, shown in phone calls, is one of the many highlights of the story.

Similarly watching Alex and Chris dance around each other emotionally as they push and pull trying to keep boundaries they’re not sure they want is equally interesting. I wish the story had included far fewer sex scenes, since they ran together for me. Not all readers felt this way so take it with a grain of salt since I got bored with so many but others really loved them. Chris and Alex each shine with their flaws and strengths and work well together. I was kind of surprised that the age difference, Chris 19 to Alex’s 26, is never an issue, even for Chris’ mother. Part of this is that I felt Alex comes across even more mature than 26, which made the age difference more noticeable.

Overall this is an interesting story that keeps your attention when focused on the men and their actions, less so with all the sex scenes. I’d say the story is easily 50% erotica, which overwhelmed it. But not so much that I put it down and quit reading. I’d be interested to read any follow up to this story as I think Chris and Alex have a lot more to say.

Loved this book. Anyone looking for a nice contemporary read should definitely pick this up. I had this in my “Wish List” for quite a while and I’m kicking myself I didn’t buy it sooner.

Contrary to the cover, this is not a threesome story. We do get a peek inside the heads of all 3 characters, which I like. Shows how each guy is handling what’s going on. It’s easy to want them to do well even when they are screwing up.

That being said, I’m glad the 2 who got together were the ones to do so. They made so much more sense.

This book could easily be split into 3 parts. Chris confused, Chris sexual, and Chris in love. The first 3rd of the book is setting up the conflict … Seth, his crush, is back from college, things are awkward because neither of them know what to do. The middle part is all about his neighbor, Alex, who knows exactly what to do and Chris is having a blast. The last 3rd is Chris’ choice. Who does he want to be with? Neither Seth or Alex is much use in helping him decide. When the light bulb does go off, the declaration scene is adorable without being cheesy. I thought it was very well done.

The only thing I would change is a bit of the sex in the middle. Of course, Chris liked it, but it pushed the romance into the erotica genre and I’m not sure this story needed it.

I will definitely be buying Rachel West again.

Hard to say how I really feel about this. I liked Chris quite a lot, Alex too actually. And I really enjoyed them together, they were sweet n sexy and both endearing in their own way, but I shed a couple tears for Seth and didn't fully enjoy seeing him being rejected even tho I understand the how and why. I feel sad for him nonetheless. And because we saw his feelings and his confusion, it just made me all the more sad that it didn't work out for him. Again, I can see how and why, that just doesn't help make it any less sad.

Putting aside that the book didn't turn into what I thought it would, I guess I just don't really enjoy finishing a book with someone left alone and upset by the end, it made me enjoy the happiness for the other two guys a lot less than it would have if Seth hadn't been in the picture.

On the bright side, I enjoyed the characters all around a lot, the writing was easy and engaging and there was a lot of hot man on man action.

Although, I would have been happy with a bit less sex to be honest. It was all sexy and steamy and I enjoyed it a lot, actually I think it's one of the sexiest books ... Just a tick too much towards the end.

Wow! Lots and lots of hot sex. First impression. I was a little worried that Seth would get the guy (Chris). I couldn't bring myself to feel sorry for Seth. He wasn't a good guy or even a descent guy before or after. I was just a little pissy with Alex because he has this exspectation of a 19 year old, Chris, who hadn't had a true relationship yet and you could tell that Chris was floundering a bit about what he wanted from life in general. Plus Alex has several moments of "lets be a prick", which I know was part of the story line but because I get emotionally invested in stories that I like, pissed me off. Chris...what can I say, you gotta love him. He's sweet and kind and loving. I was afraid that I wan't going to enjoy this book. There was almost too much sex for me this time around because I was waiting for conversation to happen. Though you didn't have the same scene twice and the writing was well done, so I didn't skim through it.

A sweet M/M romance between 19 year old Chris and 26 year old Alex. Chris lives at home with his mom, working as a lifeguard at the local pool, while he tries to decide what he wants out of life - his future career and who he loves. Alex is his next door neighbor, newly arrived from Boston after a bad break-up with his boyfriend of three years. He's determined not to fall in love again, as it only leads to pain and disillusionment, but somehow, Chris manages to find his way behind his barricades.

This is a story of friendships - good and bad, and of growing up - even if you're 26! I really liked the friendship that developed between these two men, but found the rest of the characters a bit stereotyped (female confidant, @$$hole of ex's, etc). Overall though, this is a feel-good read, which, I guess, is ideal for a 'Summer Read.'

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. Coming of age tales aren't really my thing, and I prefer my characters a little older. But, it was a challenge for my reading group, so I gave it a whirl. I am so glad I did! All 3 of the characters are so beautifully flawed, with issues that felt so very real and appropriate for their ages. Chris is 19 and doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. Haven't we all been there? Seth is struggling with his sexuality, and the unexpected feelings he's having for his friend. Alex is trying to rebuild his life after a bad break up. Combined the three go on an interesting journey, with Chris in the middle, finally forced to make some decisions. Very nicely done.

This was an enjoyable read. The characters are relatable, likable and realistic. Chris stumbling through the varying degrees of love we all experience at some point in our lives and finally maturing, able to distinguish what's real love and what isn't which enables him to choose the right guy in the end made me want to hug him. Truly an engaging read I didn't put down until the story was complete.

What do you do when you have every choice in the world at your fingertips and no idea what you want?
Ever since Chris Bennett graduated high school a year ago, he's been trying to figure out what's next. His lifeguarding job has kept him busy, and in southern California, poolside isn't a bad place to be. But he's spent most of his time thinking about Seth, the former classmate who became something more for a few brief moments last summer. Now Seth is back, but he seems to be running toward Chris and running away from him at the same time. Meanwhile, Chris is increasingly drawn to Alex, his gorgeous new neighbor who puts up a sexy, confident front but may be harboring a few romantic demons of his own.
Chris doesn't know which direction to go, either in life or in love. But by the time he figures it out, will the right person still be around to want him back?

I really enjoyed the plot of this one. I was curious throughout the entire story to see which character Chris would end up with. Normally in a story like this, I have a favorite that I really want him to end up with (and if anyone mentions a certain book with sparkling stalkers, I will shoot them. Multiple times.) but in this I kept flip flopping over whether I wanted him with Alex or Seth.

I liked the characters in this book. Each one felt real and believable to me. Seth, however, seemed to be a bit bi-polar and his constant flip flopping got on my nerves a bit. Also, why is it romance novels have either a fag hag (a girl that the gay guy is best friends with and he tells everything to) or a really swishy gay guy that the guy tells everything to? I probably would've liked the book a lot better without Marty.

There were a couple things that the author didn't explain that I would've liked explained. We have no real sense of any of the character's pasts. We only get a brief glimpse of Alex's relationship with his ex, which really bothered me. The whole situation with his ex bugged him throughout the novel, but near the end, it was kinda just swept under the rug. I also have no idea how Seth and Chris met, or their past relationship. And the brief mention of Chris's father could've been left out since it was never really elaborated on.

*Warning: Spoiler Ahead. If you wish to avoid this, skip down until you see the end tag.*
The big thing that bothered me though, was Seth. We don't really know what happens with him at the end. Does he go back to Maine and never look back? Does he find a guy of his own or does he end up with a woman? Does he stay friends with Chris? Do him and Alex ever get along? So many questions! (Sequel maybe?)

*END SPOILER*

I did like this book over all. It was very well written and kept me wanting to read more. For once, I don't like the cover Dreamspinner Press did for this book. The three boys look poorly photoshopped together. Maybe the regular cover artist was sick that day? Either way, I'd definitely recommend this book. If you like a sweet contemporary romance with a good amount of sex, this book's for you!

I can’t give this book a bad review because it really is quite good and that’s why I gave it four stars, but it is just not my kind of story. I should not have tried to read it in the first place, and I would not have except for the many rave reviews from a variety of readers. What I really wish is that there was a place where I could review the ‘reviewers’ instead of the book.

With that said: this book has too much explicit sex it in for me. If I want to read an erotic sex story I’ll go to a porn site. There are lots of them out there. I read a number of reviews of this book, and not a one of them mentioned the enormous amount of explicit sex. Isn’t that a rather important issue when writing a review? This is now eight or ten times over the past two years that I have purchased a book with a gay theme based on terrific reviews that turned out to be mostly sex (or more than I like anyway). Obviously many readers like their stories spiced up with detailed sexual encounters, but I don’t. That’s my personal opinion, and I’ve read many ‘gay’ books that mention the sex but don’t make a big deal about it nor let it get in the way of the story.

Please reviewers. Please mention that a story contains lots of explicit sex when writing your review.

And while I’m at it, here is another of my bug-a-boos. Why, oh why do so many reviewers feel they have to tell the entire story all over again? The author has already written the story for God’s sake, so why do reviewers feel the need to write it again. What I think should be done is to tell why you liked it or why you didn’t and then shut up. There’s nothing wrong with being specific about your likes or dislikes, but telling the whole story again is absurd.

I really enjoyed this short book. It was a sweet romance but with lots of hot sex!

Chris (nineteen) is not going anywhere with his life, undecided about his career and lusting after Seth who does not seem to share his feelings. After being hurt by Seth, he finds himself in the arms of his older (twenty six) and gorgeous neighbour.

Alex has been hurt in the past and had sworn never to give his heart to anyone again but he finds himself drawn to Chris who he finds "Different. Funny. Beautiful." Reluctantly he initiates a very eager Chris into the joys of sex - hot sex and often! But as Seth makes an appearance to stake his own claim on Chris, they all have to analyse their feelings and work out what they really want.

I loved the characters of Chris and Alex, was suitably annoyed by Seth and adored Alex's best friend Marty. And I love the ending where Chris finally started making some decisions and going after what he really wanted.

Plus my mum made an appearance in this book, popping up midway to say..."This is not about a curfew. This is about human decency. This is about acting responsibly. This is about you knowing that I'm not going to know where you are, knowing that I'm worrying about you, and choosing not to call and just let me know that you're alive.". Okay, so it was Chris' mom but I definitely got the same lecture muliptle times from my own mother! :)

I really struggled with this book...not because it was bad, but because it appeared to be the same scene, written slightly differently, over & over again...the sex, although initially hot to read, was again, monotonously familiar by the end of the book...another detraction (for me) was the multi-orgasmic abilities of the MC's...I can live with 3-4 orgasms (from guys) in a night during the initial 'honeymoon' phase of a relationship but it starts to become ludicrous & improbable after the initial, hyperactive bunny fucking stage of the relationship is over...I start to visualise characters with a slightly desiccated appearance after they have cum themselves dry! This isn't a bad book but it does become a tad monotonous & unrealistic...it's very porn-y with yummy MC's so that saves it from a lower rating...BTW...Seth is a prat whom I wanted to do horrible things too...I felt that he needed more karmic retribution!

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and both Chris and Alex.

If I have one complaint, it would have to be that the actual story got put on the back shelf every three pages while someone got f*cked.

Sex scenes are fine and can add to the story line, when inserted (pardon the pun) appropriately. However, the sheer quantity in this story was seriously bordering on male nymphomania.

I never really connected with Seth's character. He was more like that guy you know who is cute, but feels like it's his mission in life to nail anything that moves. And I'm not sure that his new-found enlightenment toward the end of the book wouldn't be gone 3 minutes after he got back to college.

A good read, but three-fourths of the book seemed like it took place while horizontal. Vertical can be good, too.

I really liked this book and would have given it 4 stars except for one little thing that bothered me. I don't think it needed quite so many sex scenes. There was a great story here. The characters and plot were very well done and I liked how the POV changed to get all three guys thoughts across. The amount of sex, while well written, was just a bit much. I wanted more conversations and getting-to-know-you moments. We are told that those things happened, but I wanted to experience them with Alex and Chris. Over all, I really enjoyed this book and will definitely read more by Rachel West.

There was a whole lot of sex in this book. But it was really, really good sex & the characters were awesome. This story was just what I needed right now. Just a straight up, slightly angsty, small love triangle romance. No cops, no bad guys, no mystery. Just heartfelt feelings and interesting characters and great sex. Although some people might wonder which guy Chris would end up loving in the end But I enjoyed the ride very much. It was so much fun.

3.75 stars. Good writing and readers can easily immense into the story. However, I think I must have skipped at least 1/3 of the whole story - there are just too many sex scenes in it, half of them are not doing anything to move the plot forward or characterisation. I just skipped the whole scenes. This should have been a tighter, shorter and delightful romance about finding out what you really want to do with your life.

choices choices....HOT HOT...I'm glad he chose who he did but in a way I'm sorry to see the other guy go...Rachel should give him his own story :D

Two of the three men seem quite mature for their age and in a way it's kind of refreshing. Not a unique story line but the characters came out pretty strong. Not angsty, but yes it's one of those that a "misunderstanding" or "past hurt" keeps them together for a few days...but they're hot and sexy together!!

Pretty great read. I loved not being sure which way it would go until after the halfway point, loved Seth's character arc-- he was an ass, but an ass with potential. Well written, great story with great characters and a lot of hot scenes that didn't feel forced or excessive. 4.5 stars, bumping it up to 5 for goodreads.
