I've said it more often, but I'll happily repeat it: Rosemary A. John is one of my favorite authors in the world. She writes stories like I want to read them. I'm therefore always looking forward to her new releases. This series, consisting of very loose fairytale retellings, has quickly become one of my favorites. I was therefore really happy that I got an arc for this last book in the series. I couldn't wait to see how the series would end and how everything would come together.
Since most of the world building has been done in the previous books, especially when it comes to the human town and the demon lore, this book has a very high pace. And yet the author makes sure that the emotions are never drowned by the action. On the contrary. It's clear that even her action scenes are created to serve the emotions of the characters. My heart might have shattered quite a few times while reading this book. Luckily it has been glued back together again just as often.
I really liked that especially the hero in this story is quite different from his brothers. He's playful, he feels a little younger, he has loads of energy and despite his circumstances he has never completely lost his sunshine. It was easy to fall in love with him as a reader and therefore it's also easy to understand that our heroine falls in love with him so quickly. Although, quickly, technically this love takes a lot of years before they finally find their happily ever after.
I was also very satisfied with how this book connects all four stories in the series. To enjoy this series to the fullest it's best to read the books in order, because then this book really feels like a series finale where all the answers are given and everything is revealed. I have to admit that I personally would have loved to see a little more from the battle in the human world, but one can't always get everything of course.
And now I'm really looking forward to the retelling of Peter Pan!
In the last book, Pearl is Demon Stolen, long before the other books take place. We discover she is Maxton’s mom’s twin sister. She has been given a potion to keep her young and forced the be the human servant for the Mer-Empress. Trapped in an underwater city, Pearl becomes the number One servant and rediscovers her protective side for all the other servants. Pearl’s solebond has not been discovered yet, and she admires from afar the Evil Demon of Water. We follow along as Pearl makes friends and is tormented by the empress and her general. As Pearl’s story progresses, we discover her soul bond. The story is very well written, wrapping up loose threads from the other books, bringing back other characters from earlier books, and ending in the great battle we’ve all been expecting.
Wow! That’s about as coherent as I’m feeling now that it’s over. It was the perfect conclusion to the series, but nothing at all like I was expecting. Pearl and Caspian are kind of the cutest things together. And that’s really saying something because I think I’ve believed every demon prince and his Soul Bond were the cutest thing ever – up to that point. I loved seeing Caspian and his brothers truly step into their power. The epilogue was almost everything I didn’t know I needed to wrap this series up. The only thing I could ask for that would make this even better would be to see Maxton find his Forever Love. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
Pearl is Maxtons aunt and mothers twin sister. She was sacrificed because she was planning a rebellion many years ago. She ends up in the Mer realm working for the merwitch with occasional flashes of rebellion and her old self until she encounters Four. Four takes her out of her shell and breathes new life into her which sparks her spirit. I loved the unexpected double ending for the story. I just wish there was more for Maxton.
My Demon of Water is the final book in the Rebel Demons series and its the youngest brother - Caspian's book. It has slight similarities to story of The Little Mermaid with an underwater world, Mer-folks and Sea-Witches amongst other things. When events that happen to Pearl in the Human world force her into the underwater one she ends up a slave (thrall) to the Sea-Empress. A place full of mean and sadistic people. Caspian and Pearl have a sweet and endearing relationship even in the light of all of this. I really liked the playfulness they had too especially Caspian. It was great to tie in other characters from past books as well as new ones that related to characters in this one. They were good twists. This was a great read and a great series too.
My Demon of Water is the fourth and final book in the Rebel Demons series, and oh, it was so deliciously good! Pearl is a human living in the Merfolk Court and our MFC. Her life is forever changed when she is saved by Caspian, the fourth demon prince. Their love is forbidden, but do you really think that would stop a demon prince? I loved seeing these two characters interact. The romance was steam filled, and it was enjoyable seeing the two help each other grow as individuals. What I loved most about this story was seeing the intersect from the first three books. While these are standalones, I am so glad I read the entire series because it really added an extra element to the books. All in all, this series is full of energy and intrigue, which will have readers tearing through the pages.
Rosemary gives us a fantastic finale to this amazing series! Pearl is taken by the Demons of the water realm and has lost her memories, including those of Prince Caspian. She's drawn to Caspian's water acrobatics even though she's also afraid that he would hurt her as she's been told that that's all he wants. From there it's a crazy wild ride of emotions and events that lead to their HEA. Beautifully written with complex characters and plot twists that keep you guessing and turning pages throughout, this book is sure to become a favourite. I loved reading this book and highly recommend it. Don't forget to read the trigger warnings but don't miss out on this book!!
I loved Pearl so much and was very happy with her and Caspian. Pearl has been sacrificed to the demons but her story takes place a few years after that. She’s had a pretty tough life and feels drawn to the prince of water. It was also really nice how this story brought all the rebels together and made a great conclusion. I’m sad to say goodbye to these characters but hope there’s a chance we can see some of them in other series by this author. I definitely didn’t want to stop reading once I started it.
This was an amazing ending to a great series. In My Demon of Air, we meet Caspian and Pearl in the Kingdom of Water, who are perfect together and I particularly enjoyed their chemistry. We also see the other brothers and their soulbonds, and the book really helps tying up loose ends. I would recommend the entire series, as it is well written and the storyline is really engaging and filled with angst and steam.
Breeze made be my favorite demon, but I absolutely loved Caspian and Pearl. But I do have to admit that I was starting to get worried at the end about some loose ends, however, the author came in and and tied those ends into a nice pretty bow.
Absolutely loved this entire series. This is book 4 in the Rebel Demon series. Loved reading about Pearl and Caspian. Pearl was such a strong character. Really liked her personality. I think this might be my favorite book in the series. Storyline was so so good. Absolutely loved the world the author created. Wish series didn’t have to end. Definitely recommend reading.
What a great ending to the Rebel Demons series! Caspian was trapped for many years similar to his brothers in their separate kingdoms. He was aware of his soul bond Pearl longer but unable to get to her.
I enjoyed seeing them connect and build a forbidden friendship with each other. It was dangerous for them but they no longer could be kept apart. I loved when the brothers reunited, it was such a sweet moment of snuggles and tail holding.
I liked the couple of twists that happened towards the end. Brothers reunited and ready to battle. Their father getting revenge and finally acknowledging his love for his sons.
The human soul bonds were able to finally return home and start building their future with their demons. I really wish Maxton would have gotten his HEA. His story seemed unfinished.
Honestly, this one blew me away. The way this author managed to tie up all the threads that weaved among these four books, it’s absolutely incredible. Every little detail, all the way back to book one, comes together in this one. The ending is utterly spectacular! I love how unique and hilarious her characters in different ways—and she truly saved the best for last!
Caspian is perhaps the most underestimated of all, and boy does he surprise everyone! I loved his joyful strength, and the depth of his utter devotion to Pearl!
This wasn’t a series I could predict the outcomes on, but it was so much fun to read. Found family, righting wrongs and injustices, so much delightful steam, and a truly unique world with multifaceted characters you can’t help but love. This series is so well worth the read!
This is book four in the Rebel Demons series and I loved it just as much as the first three. The story hooks and draws you completely in right from the start. The world building and characters in this series is fantastic. This time we are introduced to the Kingdom of Water. I absolutely loved Pearl and Caspian, they are so perfect together. Not only do we get their story but we get to see all the other brothers and their soul bonds. Its an amazing conclusion to an amazing series. I highly recommend this story and series.
I adore this series. In this book we are introduced to Pearl and the final prince Caspian. Pearl has so much inner strength and can’t help herself when it comes to standing up for anyone she sees treated badly, even the ones she thinks are her enemies. The events in this book tie together all the characters throughout the series and gives us a fascinating conclusion. I’m looking forward to more books by Rosemary Johns.
In this final book of the series, we go to the Kingdom of Water. Our main character is the servant of the Merfolk Court. These mer are deadly, and when their human servant is almost drowned, she is saved by a water demon. I really liked the story of Pearl and Caspian.
They are such a great couple. And this book had me hooked right from the start!
I absolutely love this book and world. We get to meet Pearl and Caspian and I was so excited for this story. I have loved each and every one of them. Each of them sucks you in, and you just can't stop reading.
A thrilling conclusion to what has been an amazing series. Pearl and caspian kept me guessing and wondering til the very last page. This book answered all questions and tied everything up nicely. Really enjoyed reading this series and will read again
My favourite in this series, we finally meet the last brother and his life was not easier than those of his brother but he had a littly ally at least and even if it took long to make contact he had his soulmate near. Caspian is a prisonner of the merfolk, as a demon shifter he is seen as an abomination his cage may be golden but a cage is a cage and the Queen is a dangerous being . Pearl was demon stolen but since she is a slave in the merfolk kingdom she is given food that stop her aging and taking her memories. She never lost her rebellious tendencies that lead her to be stolen when she tried to protect her twin and her son son Maxton in the Hills but she learned to hide it better. As the servant of the Queen she is at the top of the slaves, thralls, she is One and tries to protect others like eighty . Her little "free" moment is watching in secret Caspian swimming and water acrobatics.....
But soon she can resist Caspian " visits" and discover even darker secrets from the Queen...wanting to protect others will put her in danger but she is not as alone as she thinks.
Caspian is really intelligent, he is also really patient and creative....playing a role to meet his soulmate, taking risks to potect her won't stop him to try to protect his father's kindgdom and his brothers.
I really LOVED this instalment it's wonderfully written to close doors and ties all the informations we collected along the series , all questions get their answer and we get a fabulous conclusion with twists and humour and passion everything perfectly balanced. Really the best instalment
This was such a great ending to the Rebel Demons series! I was really hoping that Maxton would get his own story, as I feel he really deserved to find his own happiness, but I have to admit that getting Pearl's story as the final book in this series was really satisfying and tied everything together nicely. I loved seeing how the different timelines from the other books coincided with this one as well as the actions of the other characters as they fought their own rebel battles to get answers and to reach their end goal together. It really helped put all the pieces together to discover that everyone played their own part and there was more to the decisions made by Anwealda than just a power play. Turns out, the demon actually has a sort of soft side for his boys, even if he doesn't show it often.
I really loved the ending of this book, seeing everyone come together as a family and be reunited without the pressure or fear that had been there before on The Hill. Although we didn't get to see Maxton's rebellion, it was nice to see the results that came of it and how much he had changed in such a short time to better accommodate people and their acceptance of finding their own Soul Bonds.
*I gently pull Coral up. She’s as small as I am. She feels as fragile as a bird in my arms. Even though we’re both tiny, however, I know how much strength we have.
We’re survivors, and I’m going to show her. Strength doesn’t come from size, gender, or corrupt power. I’ll bloody show this entire town.
My pulse roars in my ears. I’m shaking with adrenaline. I’m high with both excitement and fear. But now, I have to share with Coral the dangerous secret, which could get us both killed." - Pearl
Pearl is taken by the demons from the Hill. Becoming a Thrall in the Mer court becomes her lot in life, but at least she can watch the demon Prince Caspian swim.... Right? That is, until Four enters her life. Four, a fellow thrall who has no sense of self preservation... Yet somehow becomes so much more than a fellow thrall...
Come my darlings! Come with me to dive into a whirlpool of intrigue, danger and desire! The ebb and flow of the ocean tides swell throughout this book! The prose flows and swirls, linking some then separating... Come my lovelies, drown with me... In the siren call for freedom!
I voluntarily reviewed "MY DEMON OF WATER" This is one amazing series the author out did herself writing this interesting, intriguing, rollercoaster ride full of emotional turmoil, secrets, angst, lies, steam, twists that has you turning the pages to the end. Pearl & Caspian are terrific characters that you fall in love with he saved her from almost drowning but she's human & has been warned to stay away from him he's dangerous, dark, sexy as sin, shifts into a Merman & siren song is mesmerizing you can't resist him. Pearl is Maxton's moms twin sister was given something to keep her young & forced to be human servant to Met-Empress she's trapped in Merfolk Court underwater, she has feelings for the Demon of Water is he her Soul Bond. I definitely recommend to get this amazing well written story you can't put down Pearl & Caspian take you on quite the adventure will they get their HEA or will they both die for being together its a must read for sure you so won't be disappointed what an ending to this amazing series I loved it. AWESOME MUST HAVE READ 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤
The fourth book will bring Pearl and Caspian together in the underworld realm of water. She is abducted in her twin sister’s place as ordered by the mayor, her sister’s husband, and Maxton’s mother. Twenty-one years later, Pearl has forgotten who she is. She is drawn to the prince that swims in the water. She is now a Thrall ruled by the queen over the merfolk. She is evil incarnate and treats her son horridly. Prince Caspian and Prince River are friends. When Caspian and Pearl finally meet once again, everything will change once they bond. He sacrifices his siren voice for their bond. When the other three princes show up with their princesses, it is time for war~ They have yet to see their father come to help finish the battle. What will happen in the final showdown? Will the bonded mates win or lose? What will it mean for the four realms? You will not want to miss the exciting conclusion to this series!

This is book 4 and the final in Johns' Rebel Demons series and I was so excited to have gotten it. This book is just as well written and captivating as the first three. In this final book we're taken on a journey with Pearl and Caspian as we're introduced to the Kingdom of Water. Full of action as well as emotion. Johns delivers a fantastic world yet again with characters that continue to capture our hearts. Johns also provides us with everything we never knew we wanted or needed from the other brothers and their soul bonds wrapped up in a wonderful feeling of all is well with the world once again. While I hate to have this series come to an end, this was the perfect ending! I can't wait to see what Johns will come out with next!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.
Pearl doesn't have any memories of who she was before she was Demon Stolen and taken to the kingdom of water. Known as "One" as she is the number one Thrall - personal slave of the evil merwitch Queen, she is drawn to Prince Caspian, the Demon of Water as she watches him swim daily.
This was such an amazing series and this last book was the perfect ending. You can see the Little Mermaid similarities but it was so much more than that, it pulled the whole series together with all four couples together for the finale of the story. I was a little disappointed that Maxton didn't get his own Soul Bond but as some of this authors series crisscross a little I hold hope that even if he doesn't get his own story we will at least hear that he found someone special at some point in the future. This is a must read series, I loved it
The last book of Rebel Demons and it was amazing. I loved how Caspian acted so he wouldn't give up how strong he really is to the Queen. Loved reading the backstory of Pearl and Coral. How they became separated and how Templer was toward the twins. Pearl is a strong FMC that was taken 21 years before. Caspian is the Demon of Water and has loved Pearl since he first laid eyes on her. Together, they are a force to be reckoned with. And when she gains her memories back, she tries her hardest to defeat Queen Nixe. Many events take place and it is up to Prince Caspian and Pearl to make them right again. When his brothers arrive with their Soul Bonds, they plot to take over the Queen and to rule the Underworld together. The events that happen make you want to read more until the end. So read this last installment of the series and enjoy!!
This last book in the series holds a vague resemblance to the Little Mermaid classic fairytale, only your little mermaid is a charming, playful siren/demon Caspian, trapped in the underwater kingdom under the ruthless rule of Nixe. Pearl, a human that is stolen from the Hill, becomes trapped as Nixe's personal Thrall as well. The bond that exists between her and Caspian is strong, but forbidden, and poses a big danger, especially when found out... A nice finale to this series, with beautiful world building, hints and elements of classic fairytales, a FMC with rebellious heart that won my heart, and a prince full of surprises and secrets. I absolutely loved how Caspian courted Pearl, all his actions, dedication, worship... while working his brilliant mind patiently. Also the conclusion was satisfying. Nice and enjoyable read.
It's bittersweet to get to the ending of this series, but Pearl and Caspian do a wonderful job of rounding out our quartet of Rebel Princes and Princesses.
Just as with the others, it begins with Pearl being sacrificed to the demons. She, unlike the others, is there for many, many years before getting her happiness so that was a bit different. I really liked her rebellion, as well as Caspian. Even though she didn't know him, they were always drawn together.
It's hard to write much without spoilers since many pieces that started to reveal in earlier books finally come together, but suffice it to say I think the ending was neat and tied up all of the loose ends.
Thank you for the wonderful series. I will definitely look for more of your work in the future!
