Lin Morlin is the only child of a senator. She's book smart and a bleeding heart. She is a do-gooder who wants to save the world. Lin is sweet, naive and too stupid it live. Yes, she is a total TSTL main character whom I wanted to smack some sense into her. Let's see how foolish she is:
1. Go to a criminal infested planet in "disguise" with friend to "research" for aporn erotica book.
2. When things go wrong and she is to be killed, fight against secret rescuer to get back to captured friend.
3. Have absolutely no fighting abilities - defensive or offensive. (No Princess, pouting and stamping foot is not a weapon of mass destruction.)
4. Infiltrate a human trafficking ring that is know for killing off sex slaves with... dying your hair and changing your eye colour.

After - the Disguise! See how tricksy she was by changing hair from white to dark and eyes from amethyst to brown ...
Oh, si, si, si - I am very fooled. NOT!
5. Have an entrance plan on trying to save friend... BUT NO EXIT STRATEGY!
So, the premise of this story is fine. The action was fine. The conflict was unsurprising. The resolution was predictable. A nice little twist for one of the secondary characters. The BDSM was almost none existent. This was basically the BDSM sex slavery fantasy. The world building is so light because it is book number 7 in this series. The characters were... how do I say it... there is no nice way to say it. Dumb. I'm surprised they are still alive. Why are they not dead? The writing voice is fine. The author's editing is fine. She does a good job of describing. What fell flat for me are the characters and the rather weak (slapstick comedy) plot.

Heroine was TSTL. Hero was a wannabe Dom. Their undercover work was lame. DNF @ 42%.

Good characterization, one use of the dreaded miscommunication trope, and a rushed ending; honestly, this would have been a stronger book with more rounding out of details.
