An early reader storybook is set on a small farm and explores how the farmer, the pig, the frog, the cricket, the earthworm, the tree, the flower, and the scarecrow each involve themselves with the dirt in a special way. Original.

Slant rhymes and amateurish art sink this ode to dirt.
The book visits all the residents of a farm -- humans, animals, insects, plants -- and provides their opinion or main activity in regard to soil. The author quickly runs out of rhymes for "dirt" and at first tries to get something close like "snort" and then gives up entirely and just drops in stuff like "night" and "quilt."
