I'm not the audience, obviously, for this middle grade book, but I don't think I'm being too harsh by saying I didn't believe quite all of the characters in this book. It has just a hint of facile redemption. But I'm sure kids of the right age will enjoy the adventure, the bits of sci-fi, the danger, and the ups and downs of the plot.
