A popular history for probably an audience of young women. You can see the bias creeping into the history field even then. It's only a short line from this to the likes of John Meachum.

This was a very old book but I enjoyed it. I am not an expert on our First Ladies but I have read
a lot about them and have a Pinterest board about them. There were some pictures in it that I had not seen before and also some stories I had not heard. All these ladies were interesting in their own way
and some of them led horribly tragic lives.
