Really sad that I spent $13 for such a simple little cookbook. I read through it scanning the recipes in just a little over a couple hours. Most of the recipes use canned vegetables and soups and instant packaging of the same. I did learn how to adapt other favorite oven recipes to a slow cooker from the authors, and some of the desert recipes sound interesting. These two things make me give the book 2*.

Old fashion recipes for a beginning cook

I actually liked this book even though I recognized a recipe that I used to love back in 1978. Almost every recipe calls for either a box of this or a can of this or a jar of that so I wouldn’t exactly call this cooking from scratch, but some recipes I could see myself making. They’re easy, and while not the most heart healthy, they certainly look tasty. If you’re a young guy (or a girl) without much cooking desire/talent/experience and you like to hold game day parties, these recipes are for you.

These were certainly really easy recipes that relied on a lot of condensed soups and the like. It was disappointing that there were no pictures though. I might try a couple?

OK, so I knocked one slow cooker cookbook for having recipes that were so complex there didn't seem to be any real benefit to the slow cooker. This is the opposite extreme. These recipes are extremely simple as they use soup mixes, canned soups, and next to nothing fresh.

It's not my thing. There wasn't a single thing in here I wanted to try. Recipes with less processed ingredients are not that much more difficult and so much healthier. Those spice mixes and soup cans give little control over salt especially.

Worst cookbook I have read all year.

Full of Mid-western recipes requiring canned soup, instant bullion, and Velveeta.

Example: Chicken Cacciatore: 2-4 Boneless skinless chicken breasts, 1 jar chunky spaghetti sauce, minced garlic.

Her Minestrone recipe calls for cans of Minestrone!

Not even interested in trying any of these recipes. Nothing original. Nothing looked good.

Eh. Not great, but some good recipes. I wish there were more photos of the dishes.

If you're looking for a basic slow cooker book with everyday recipes and a few helpful hints this might work for you. I was hoping for something a bit more creative.
