A climactic battle of magic and steel from the New York Times best-selling author of The Legend of Huma!

The Titans have gained the Fire Rose and seized the ogre realms from the Grand Khan Golgren. With the powerful artifact created by the god, Sirrion, they have literally recreated the capital, Garantha, and they intend to remold the people next. Although the Titans believe Golgren is dead, the half-breed survives. With few he can trust and facing magic, treachery, and distrustful gods, Golgren must find the answer in his own past if he has any hope of overcoming the Titans and the powers of the Fire Rose. In doing so, however, he risks becoming a pawn of the gargoyle king.

This is the third book of a trilogy and part of the Dragonlance world. The other two books must be read to understand this one. In this novel we continue the story arc of the Titans possessing the artifact known as the fire rose and Golgren's plans to get it back.

There were parts that I liked in this book and parts I didn't enjoy. This could be said about the entire trilogy. I liked how the author linked this trilogy with another trilogy of his. One doesn't need prior knowledge of that trilogy but having this knowledge does add to the enjoyment. I really enjoyed the ending as all the different pieces with their respective story arcs came together for an action packed finale. All these different pieces were also a fault of this novel. I believe there were too many and it overloaded the story. Another fault was that it seemed like every character had their own personal agenda and would back stab everyone and anyone at a whim. At one point I lost track whose side some of these characters were on.

This author definitely can write fantasy as he used many fantasy tropes throughout this novel and trilogy. I do wish that this novel was a little longer so he could have fleshed out everything as this book seemed condensed. It was an enjoyable read but could have been so much more.

Wow what an amazing conclusion to this fantastic trilogy. So many great tie ins with his other trilogy and I believe I found a new second favorite character in our chivalrous Knight of the Sword Stefan Rennert.

Not too happy with all the gods' interference in Dragonlance tales of late. I understand it's the Age of Mortals and maybe the gods feel their ability to control mortals slipping away, but goodness, do the appearances have to be so many? Even if they are just avatars and not the complete gods themselves (they are everywhere, aren't they? Even Taladas?), appearances are better when they are used quite sparingly.

All in all though, I do like how the races who were treated so generically for the longest time (minotaurs, ogres, goblins & hobgoblins) , are now striving to take stronger positions in Ascalon as it exists now.

A very good finale to the Titans series in the Dragonlance genre. I truly liked how the characters interacted and finalized their conflicts swiftly and in a pleasing manner.

The ending was not truly expected, yet I liked it.

I truly like this part the most, although it took me forever to finish since I was truly busy!

This was a nice conclusion to the trilogy. The events at the end were slightly different than I had expected but that added to the charm of the whole story. There were some nice characters, I especially like the villains in this one.

This was a nice conclusion to the trilogy about the ogres. It starts slow but then really gets going and many secrets and truths come to light. However, you do have a lot of interference from the gods in this one which got to be a little much but still an enjoyable read.

This last book of the trilogy was a bit better then the first 2 books, but not a series I would read again or suggest. I have read other books from Mr Knaak and absolutely loved his work with the Minotaur Wars trilogy.
