I don't fully understand the Marr/Morrissey work method. Nevertheless this book is an interesting source for all Smiths recordings. Rogan is an obsessive writer on his subject matters - and this type of format serves him well.

Morrissey has worked with various songwriters throughout his career, but what I am curious about is how does he Morrisseyized the songs. Does Morrissey ever write the melodies? Is there another book that goes in detail who the songs are written.

For sure, Morrissey is one of the great lyricists in the English language. Up there with Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Hart, etc. Not only that Morrissey brings a lot of 'culture' into his work. So if one is not familar with British iconic gay culture - it helps to read books on this man and his world. This Rogan book is good.
