Only thing this is missing are women's daggers, which I'm sure existed. This is a book of two parts, daggers in the first part with swords and spears in the second. I'm still not certain where shortswords and long daggers divide but otherwise this is a comprehensive index to blades of all sort from many countries with comprehensive illustration but a little too much "it appears" to give it the full 5 stars, that and the missing women.
I only got this book, because I recently got into the hobby of balisong flipping. This book didn't have a single balisong. It even had a chapter on knives from the Philippines, and not a single mention of balis.
I'm not a big proponent of violence and so this book had quite a bit of dark history.
If you are a writer in any field which has swords, spars etc in it such as fantasy, historical etc you really need to have this book at your side. It is invaluable with clear photos and descriptions. At only £20 a snap.
