Soups that simmer for minutes, not hours, and salads that know no 75 inviting recipes revolutionize this familiar hot-and-cold combo. “Soup’s on!” will become everyone’s favorite words when you serve up luscious Creamy Asparagus with Mushrooms and Gruyere Croûtes; a coconut-flavored and substantial Brazilian Shrimp Soup; Chicken Avogolemo (a Greek specialty), and Mexican Pozole. For winning salads that aren’t just lettuce, try an amazing Grilled Scallops over Mixed Green and Herb Salad; Chicken with Cucumber and Red Pepper, tossed in Honey Mustard Dressing; and Mixed Greens with Smoked Ham, Black-Eyed Peas, and Roasted Red Pepper Dressing.
I LOVE making soups and usually year round even on the hottest of days. They are delicious and fulfilling and you can almost add anything as a substitute. On a day where one can't think of anything for dinner this is where soup comes in.
This is one book of Food & Wine that I mostly can use. The ingredients are easy enough to find and if i can't then i can always find a substitute. The salads are also easy enough. I like how the book has tips and tricks and notes on variations of an ingredient. F&W seems to think I have a nice big savings account only used for sipping wine.
Nice book for people that may hate being in the kitchen but if you can boil water you should definitely try SOUP or SALAD. Maybe impress that new date of yours. ;))
This is one of my go-to cookbooks, especially when we've consumed so many of Dale's favorites things like bacon, sausage, pate; you get the idea. Some of the excellent selections from this book are Hungarian Beef-and-Potato Soup, Sauteed-Chicken Salad with Soy Lime Vinaigrette, Grilled-Stead and Arugula Salas with Mustard Caper Vinaigrette, and Tomato Soup with Chickpeas and Pasta.
One of our go-to books for quick and easy salad ideas. Many "winners". Especially like the one page section listing mix and match dressings. Great gift from my daughters several years ago.
