Hugo Münsterberg was a German-American psychologist. He was one of the pioneers in applied psychology, extending his research and theories to industrial/organizational (I/O), legal, medical, clinical, educational and business settings.

Not to be confused with Hugo Munsterberg, an expert on Far Eastern art.

An often fun, often insightful group of essays by an important and early psychologist. Munsterberg shares his thoughts, prejudices, and psychological insights on topics ranging from dance,.sex education, paranormal phenomena, jury decision-making, socialism and more. This book, and many of Munsterberg's others helped expand psychology outside of the laboratory into everyday life.

whouda thunk it, but I started reading this and it is extraordinary. Sooo timely but written over 120 years ago. The nascent psychological studies that help determine guilt and innocence. If you can find a copy, and are interested in the current status of mental health and "crime", you will really like this. It doesn't seem old fashioned at all, although many of the devices used to record various physical processes while a person is being questioned or counseled or whatever, have names we don't recognize now. I don't have the book in front of me...but even "lie detector" is there, with the revolving drum covered in paper that is marked with a "pen"...although it's called something else. Wow.

Psychology and Social Sanity was a book that left you wanting more. From bringing you back to your high school years, seeing thought through the teenage mind. Also how actions are triggered by different social situations to how someone breaking your heart can change brain pattern. This book tracks how brain patterns can differ in social situations and how people think differently. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in psych or the human brain.

A very interesting read about social conformity and the various variables that can play a part and /or benefit from observing such things. I liked it.
