Carol Marinelli was born in England to Scottish parents, then emigrated to Australia, where there are loads of Scottish and English people who did exactly the same, so she’s very at home there.

She lives in the outer suburbs of Melbourne—pretty much in her car, driving her three children to their various commitments.

Carol writes for the Harlequin Presents and Medical lines and she also writes contemporary women's fiction (with a dark twist).
When she's not writing she's reading, when she's not reading she's writing.

Okay...well, I just don't see why he couldn't tell her. Well, then we wouldn't have had all that drama...ok. Sure. Can you tell that I just wasn't that enthused about this one?

It went a little too fast... wham, bam, thank you, mam! Which one would expect, but...I don't know. I guess I just thought this one was okay and don't have much to say on the topic.

In the previous book, we were introduced to the eldest Kolovsky, Levander, his father Ivan, stepmother Nina, identical twin step-brothers, Iosef and Aleksi, and stepsister Annika. We saw how Levander, a financial analyst, found his happiness in Millie Andrews, an artist, and their baby son, Sashar; and is now settled in London.

This book starts with Dr. Iosef Kolovsky, senior registrar and Annie Jameson, senior nurse at a Melbourne hospital. They eye each other from the day they lay their eyes on each other. The prologue introduces Annie as having weighty issues while preparing for her boss's wedding. On the other hand is Dr. Iosef, the renegade Kolovsky, who went against his family's wishes to pursue this profession. But, eyeing each other doesn't guarantee politeness, as Annie forms an opinion of a rich, arrogant jerk through his attitude. It would seem that Iosef had singled her out to be horrible to, he just seems to ignore her, her presence. He is so rude to her, without there being any apparent reason.

Just then, when things were still nasty between them, fifty-seven year old Ivan Kolovsky is brought in. He is suffering from kidney cancer and was having seizures when he was brought in. Ivan is dying, and Nina, her usual stubborn self, refuses to accept it. Iosef insists on getting him transferred to a private hospital where the media would also be dealt with easily. After that, they seem to have got around to share an amicable chat, here and there; though with the hostility intact, still don't know why. While Annie is still struggling to lose weight and fit into her bridesmaids dress. I felt sad for Annie, dieting can really wreck your emotions! Been there, done that!

There is an other woman, by the name of Candy, a stick-thin blonde with whose thinness Annie couldn't seem to compare.

In spite of Kolovsky's darkness, Annie's antics made the book really good. He says he didn't want a relationship because he thinks he would hurt her. But, the heart wants what it wants, though he is apprehensive of dragging her into his murky family. He agrees to dating her, but in secrecy. No one can know about their relationship. Annie has her own familial issues. Coming from a family of high achievers, she was looked down upon for being a nurse, and being biologically different from her sisters (as if it was her fault!)

I felt really bad for her, the way Candy's name is thrown around. He going out with Candy publically, while hiding their relationship. Him stonewalling her. The sex is explosive, and they get naughty in the hospital too. But, the secrecy gets to her and she literally runs away from him, not able to take it in anymore.

At the end, Ivan Kolovsky passes away. And when reconciliation is on the cards, knowing the truth about Candy is really shocking! And disgusting... I just hated Ivan Kolovsky. Is it too much to ask for faithfulness in a relationship? The entire familial banter at the end was cute though.

This was a perfect M&B Medical. Full of the workings of a hospital, the staff, the patients, and the works.

Another billionaire story.

Iosef Kolovsky adalah seorang dokter baru saja pindah dari Rusia. Penampilannya yang menawan, dan juga karena dia adalah anak dari klan Kolovsky yang terkenal di Rusia dan Australia, membuat siapapun di rumah sakit terpesona. Termasuk Annie, perawat yang bertugas di ER. Iosef juga adalah dokter yang terampil dan ramah pada siapapun, kecuali pada Annie.

Annie yang sedang kewalahan menurunkan berat badannya, merasa masalahnya sudah lebih dari cukup tanpa perlu ditambah dengan sikap sinis dari Iosef. Pernikahan Jackie sahabatnya adalah hal yang penting, sementara gaun yang disiapkan oleh Jackie tidak muat di badannya. Untuk itu Annie harus diet ketat. Suatu kali, Iosef mendapati Annie hampir pingsan karena tidak cukup makan. Iosef mengantar Annie ke rumahnya, dan mengakhiri malam itu dengan ciuman yang membuat jantung Annie hampir berhenti.

Pada hari pernikahan Jackie, Iosef berdansa dengan Annie dan Iosef tidak ingin malam itu berakhir. Annie memutuskan untuk mengikuti kata hatinya menghabiskan semalam penuh hasrat bersama Iosef. Keesokan harinya, Iosef justru mengatakan bahwa mereka tidak bisa berada dalam hubungan yang lebih. Annie mengerti, dengan segala kondisinya yang jauh berbeda dengan Iosef.

Sayangnya apa yang dilakukan Iosef malah berbeda. Dia tidak bisa meninggalkan Annie. Untuk itu dia meminta kepada Annie bahwa tidak seorang pun boleh tahu tentang mereka, terutama di tempat kerja. Annie setuju. Tapi semakin hari Iosef makin menutup diri dari Annie, dia seakan merahasiakan banyak hal pada Annie, tapi tidak pada orang lain. Bayangkanlah perasaan Annie ketika dia tahu tentang apa yang terjadi pasa Iosef dari percakapan dengan orang lain, padahal hampir setiap malam mereka bersama. Apakah Iosef malu untuk mengakui Annie sebagai kekasih?

Novel ini cukup menarik, karena diangkat dari sudut pandang Annie yang adalah gadis biasa. Sementara Iosef adalah pria penuh rahasia dan misteri. Saya merasa kasihan pada Annie, dan hampir kehilangan simpati pada Iosef. Mengapa Iosef tega membiarkan Annie seperti wanita simpanan, sementara dia sendiri muak dengan perilaku ayahnya yang punya banyak wanita simpanan. Untungnya Iosef bisa menjelaskan semuanya pada akhirnya, tapi tetap saja saya terlanjur ilfil ama Iosef.

Pretty good. I liked the characters and the story. I would definitely like to read more about the side characters, as I enjoyed meeting them and their personalities. There were plenty of emotions, some steaminess, head bonking moments, some serious issues, some touching moments and a happy ending that left a small smile on my face. I wouldn't mind reading this again. The cuddle/snuggle, relaxing, anytime, something to read kinda book.

I loved this one almost as much as Levander and Millie’s story. Carol creates such fabulous characters - they really leap off the page and engage one’s interest.

I loathed Ivan and Nina, and the secret mistress trope (Ivan, not Josef) was such a shock.

Annie and Josef were a great couple and their story was so enjoyable and satisfying.

The story was so so. I found some errors along the story. Some were so bad I couldn't follow what the sentence was trying to say.
The romance was ok, he could of been less of a jerk while hiding his secret.

Great story!!! This is why I like medical romance. Apalagi di buku ini, kegiatan paramedisnya berasa banget. Another thing, penggambaran Iosef Kolovsky nya... Mana tahaaan. Ngences abis deh daku... Falling for him. I ever imagined how it would feel to be loved by Iosef. With his secrets of his family, passions and tenderness for his patients...

Jadi gak sabar pengen baca other medroms...

It was better than the first, but still ... I got tired of the chick with the wedding at the beginning. She was taking over the story, and really just pissed me the hell off.
It was nice to see Levander and Millie again though. I was glad to see the brothers starting the process of building their relationship.
