When her family moved to L.A., major culture shock ensued. She discovered that grapefruits grew on trees, television offered more than two channels, and all the other girls had breasts. While hiding out and waiting for her chest to develop, she read voraciously, raiding her mother's bookshelf for Mickey Spillane when she finished all her Nancy Drew novels.
Another move took her family to Denver, the place Cassie still calls home.
She graduated from North Central college outside Chicago, got married, and returned to Colorado where she worked in personnel at the Denver Post and lived in a mountain cabin without running water. Upon learning she was pregnant, a return to civilization seemed prudent. She settled in Denver, raised two amazing daughters, and started writing for Harlequin. After her divorce, she took a break from romance and wrote straight suspense.
During her frantic years as a single mom, writing books and working odd jobs to supplement her income, she hardly had time to breathe, much less to dream. Then something remarkable happened. She fell in love with a tall, sexy man who was an aerial photographer and the author of tough-guy mystery novels. Fortunately, he loved her back. She found her real-life hero, inherited three more grown kids and three grandchildren.
Cassie started writing romance again, loving every minute of a life filled with laughter, crazy road trips, sailboats, and journeys to Oregon with long walks on rocky beaches.
Not too long ago, the love of her life developed inoperable pancreatic cancer. With supportive friends and family standing by, he died at home.
Cassie now lives alone, surrounded by beautiful memories. She has no regrets and considers herself lucky to have found her soul mate, the man with whom she shared a perfect love.

I was really disappointed by Ms. Miles with this book. Slow pacing, uninteresting characters, beyond annoying heroine, and a plot too similar to a Bruce Willis movie.
The only reason I kept reading was hope it might get better. Sadly, it didn’t.

Not overjoyed with INDESTRUCTIBLE. I didn’t feel the romance and just didn’t care for the story. 2.5 stars.
Drew Kincaid is an experiment on the run. He can self-heal and the agency behind his ability want him back.
Spotted while on a job in Europe, Drew knows it’s time to move again and agrees to have dinner with Melinda Winston so he can tell her he’s leaving. However she throws that plot out the window when she tells him she’s pregnant.
Before he can explain his reaction to the news, she’s knocked out in the apartment and blood was drawn. Now he has to take her on the run with him and convince her he’s not crazy.
After they discover the baby inherited his ability, thus Melinda has it too; they find others like him online. With Melinda’s encouragement he agrees to work with them.
When push comes to shove, the don’t get the bad guy, but they weed out some of some of them. Drew and Melinda announce their love.

Good book. Drew had been a loner for a long time, trying to stay ahead of the people who wanted him for his abilities. When Melinda became pregnant, he knew he would have to stay and protect her. Learning that he wasn't the only one with special abilities, he had to learn to trust other people so that they could bring an end to the threat. Melinda was surprised by Drew's story, but knew that staying together was their only hope. She also knew that their love for each other could overcome any obstacle. This was the first of this series I have read, but I definitely want to read the others.

April 20, 2014DNF. Slow paced with a rather annoying heroine. The hero had been running and surviving on his own for years and once the heroine decided she believed Jack Maddox one hundred percent after just meeting him and want the hero to be all on board with doing what Jack wanted I had to stop reading.

I liked the plot line, but there wasn't enough detail to make me feel anything special. I didn't feel worried or anxious during the intense moments.
