The New York Times bestselling authors present a new series set on an island a stone's skip away from Cape Light...

Welcome to Angel Island, not far from the shores of Cape Light. It's said to harbor angels that help guide the lost, that sometimes lead them right back to where they began...

Liza Martin arrives on Angel Island to sell the inn she and her brother inherited from their aunt, so she can bolt back to her busy life in Boston. But back home awaits a broken marriage and an unstable career. The more time she spends on Angel Island, and with every local she meets, the more she finds herself enjoying the tranquility of the place. Her new friends don't want to see her sell the inn to developers who will ruin the island's charm. There is much for her to resolve before her departure- and it is going to take a band of angels to mend her broken wings and redirect her soul.

A sweet, cozy story which is a spinoff of the Cape Light series. These books remind me to slow down, appreciate life and family, and remember what's really important.

I enjoyed this story about Peter and his sister, Liza, come to Angel Island to sell the inn that their aunt left them in her will. Both of them have been so busy with their own lives that they have not been to the island in many years nor did they see their aunt after she became sick. I loved the characters, Daniel the handyman, and Claire who runs the inn. This book is the first in a series of seven and I have read all the others but somehow missed the first one. I knew what was going to happen in the story, but enjoyed this book anyway.

I really enjoyed reading "The Inn at Angel Island". It was the first book in the Angel Island series. A brother (Peter) and sister (Liza) inherit an old inn where they had spent their childhood summers. Liza who lives in Boston and works as an advertising executive. She recently got divorced from her husband Jeff who had cheated on her. She arrives at the inn on a dark and rainy night. Claire North, her aunt's longtime housekeeper, was waiting for Liza when she arrived at the Angel Island Inn. Peter who lived in Tuscon, Arizonia who is divorced, his ex-wife Gail who is seeking custody of Will, their 14 year old son. Fran Tulley at Bowman Realty, is helping Liza and Peter find potiential buyers for the inn. Peter and Will come to Angel Island to help Liza go through their aunt and uncle's belongings and fix up the inn.

As Liza is cleaning out different parts of the inn she starts to remember the summers she spent with her aunt and uncle. Claire was helping Liza by saying "Save, discard, or give away?" which had Liza calling the query "the magic question." Daniel Merritt was the handyman who usually worked on the inn, doing repairs from painting to repairing things. The first big task that Daniel does is paint the outside of the house. Peter and Will finally arrive at the inn, giving Liza a chance to spend some time with her brother and nephew. Peter had to bribe Will to come with him by promising him a new phone, an iPhone or something like that. Will brought his iPod with him so he could listen to music.

Peter brought his cameras with him so he could take pictures around the island. Liza decided to take a bike ride with Peter and Will. It would be easier for Fran to show the inn to potential buyers without Peter hovering and cutting into the conversation. The first stop was at the General Store to get a cold drink. Peter wanted to introduce Will to Marion and Walter Doyle the owners of the General Store. While Peter and Will were at the General Store, Liza went over to the tea shop. The next stop was the cliffs to eat lunch, sandwich's and bottles of water. After lunch Peter and Will took their cameras out to take pictures of the views around the cliffs and ocean. On the way back to the inn, they took a different route down the Ice Road House, which was a shortcut from the beach below the cliffs back to the island center, where the General Store stood. The Ice Road House would take them past the old cemetery, where her aunt and uncle had been buried.

When they returned back to the inn, Liza had a surprise waiting for her, a huge bouquet of yellow roses from her ex-husband Jeff, with a note that says "He has been thinking about her and hopes everything is going well out at the inn." Liza is starting to have second thoughts about selling the inn so quickly because of all the memories she is having while spending time at the inn. The next day Liza gives Peter a job of taking down the wallpaper in the bathroom, paint the walls and ceiling to cover up the mold spots. While Liza worked on painting a different bathroom. Whenever Daniel was around Liza felt an attraction to him, like a silly crush. Peter started working on photo albums for Liza, Will, Claire, and himself.

Daniel was still painting the outside of the house with the help of Peter, Will, and Liza. Liza enjoyed working with Daniel since it took her mind off the problems she was having at work back in Boston. As she and Daniel were working side by side painting the columns and railing, a silver Volvo convertible had arrived, with Jeff getting out of the drivers side. Liza wasn't to happy to see Jeff and ended up going on a bike ride, getting stranded in the pouring rain, with Daniel coming to her rescue. Jeff ended up having to stay the night because the bridge was flooded. During the rain storm lightening struck a tree branch causing it to crash through the roof in the attic. They all pitched in to help move boxes and put a tarp over the hole until it could be repaired.

The next day Daniel came over to look at the roof to see if he would be able to repair it. While he and Liza were in the attic, he cupped her face in his hand, leaned down, and kissed her. Daniel was able to fix the roof with the help of Peter and Will, even though Daniel didn't seem to need much help. While Daniel worked on the roof, Peter, Will, and Liza finished up painting the outside of the house.

Fran told Liza the Hardys had an offer, a very nice one, that would mean knocking down the entire inn, and building a new house in it's place. Peter seemed happy about the offer but didn't know it meant the inn would be torn down. The next morning Will was nowhere to be found. Peter tried calling and texting Will but he never responded. Daniel, Peter, and Liza decide to split up to look for Will. Claire stays home to call people around town including the gatehouse at the bridge. Daniel suggested they go back to the Angel Wing Cliffs to look for Will. They find Will inside one of the cliffs dirty, wet, and sheepish-looking. He was wrapped in a blanket and Claire fixed him a bowl of soup and a sandwich. In the end Liza decided to keep the inn and wanted Claire to help her run the inn.

In a hurry, I grabbed this book off the library shelf hoping that it would be a good read. To my delight, I discovered everything I enjoy in a book... and bonus!! it's a series. I can't wait to follow these characters and find out what happens in An Angel Island Novel book 2!

The Inn At Angel Island is an OK book, uplifting message, well-conceived but only adequately executed. It was sometimes warm and homey, but mostly I found myself laughing at the dialogue and standard trappings of romance fiction, Christianized though it was. For example, as one of the main characters is introduced, we discover that he is "tall, dark, and...ironic." Oh please.

I picked it up because I really like the paintings of the first author, Thomas Kinkade, and hoped that his talent would show in his writing as well. So, I liked the overarching message (go after what is really important in life, and it isn't usually "things"), but unfortunately the writing, plot, and characterization were barely adequate. It probably really deserves a "two" rating, but it was an OK read for exercising on the treadmill. I won't be reading the rest of the series.

Real good book, at one point I found out the main character was a budding young artist then she gave up on herself. Got me to working on a small bit of my art if you count doing the dragon eggs from the adult coloring book of Game of Thrones but trust me the people who see what I do are pretty impressed. Anyway, this was such a warm fuzzy romantic book but also about having faith in God and in yourself and taking chances...this book really spoke to me.

Liza Martin and her brother Peter have inherited a run-down inn on Angel Island from their Aunt Elizabeth. They had fond memories of all the summers they had spent visiting there as children. But they have homes and careers to return to, so the plan is to sell the property as quickly as possible. Liza is recently divorced. She allowed her job to take over her life which ultimately took a toll on her marriage. On the island she finds a peacefulness she hasn't felt in a very long time. Liza discovers neighbors who care about and look out for one another - quite a change from living in Boston. Peter has also divorced. He is fighting over custody of his fourteen-year-old son Will. They form stronger father and son bonding while working to get the inn spruced up to attract buyers. But will they still be willing to part with their inheritance when they do get an offer from people who are only interested in the property the inn sets on?

The Inn at Angel Island came out of a free library. I thought it was the first book I had read by Thomas Kinkade and Katherine Spencer but apparently I read a Christmas story by Mr. Kinkade years ago.

Liza just wants to sell her aunt's old inn and get back to her fancy job in the city but as she drives up to the run down inn memories come flooding back. As one issue after another arises with the inn Liza considers here life and what she really wants.

The story is slow moving with little action more like a comfort story which is what my mind and heart needed at this time. Even though it is a series the story does wrap up nicely and you get closure on the big questions that were raised during the plot of The Inn at Angel Island.

If you want to walk in the whimsical memories of your childhood or year for that perfect place of seclusion by the sea, the getting lost in this book is right for you . Kinkade and Spencer paint a picturesque picture and her characters tug at our own inner conflicts. Liza is a lovable character because of her insecurities, and the relationship between Peter and Will echoes of every teenage parents struggle. So do pull up a chair an get lost in Angel island. Looking forward to reading more of this series

Quite expectedly predictable, and sometimes a bit preachy and overly descriptive. Daniel may be too good to be true... except that he paints when rain is expected or has just occurred. Nonetheless, a book about family, following your heart, and the healing and beauty of nature. Why are high-powered jobs, urban settings, and trendy clothes the foil of healing, family, solid values, following your dreams? These are not mutually exclusive in life...why are they so in romances? Entertaining, clean escapism.

I really enjoyed the book but one thing bothered me. Early in the story they are out adventuring and find some caves. Neither Liza or Peter remember them but later in the book Peter says he use to go there all the time, even camped there once. I can’t see him forgetting his favorite spot. It was a huge editing mistake. Other than that it was a good story. The romance was reasonable and clean. Kind of a side story that didn’t distract from the main plot. I enjoyed the Cape Light series and look forward to more Angel Island.

The definition of a wholesome romance novel. I liked that the writing held up and the characters mostly seemed to have a good amount of depth. I wish the romantic relationship had been fleshed out a bit more, it seemed very tentative, but honestly it was more about the main character and I liked that.

The only thing I didn’t like was the brother character, he seemed consistently unlikeable and I wish he’d had more redeeming moments for someone we’re supposed to like.

I enjoyed the story line and the valuable lessons it contained.
Now I am an Aussie & not a nit-picker when it comes to grammar.
Can I say English was perhaps my least favourite subject at school?
For me though, the big detractor was the most unfortunate way American's use the English language, otherwise I possibly would have given it a rating 4.

Charming story about a brother and sister who have inherited an old inn. Both are divorced and having trouble with their exes and their jobs. I was disappointed that there weren't more Kinkade paintings, and that the description of the inn in the book was not at all like the picture on the cover. I will probably read the next book in this series.

Gosh, I loved this book. It spoke to me on so many levels, and the writing style flowed so easily. What a great, heartwarming read. The ending was nice, and it had believable change even though I mostly expected the outcome.

A bit holy-wolly for my taste. I love Kinkade’s art and this book is a nice easy read if you leave out the religiosity. Predictable but that’s the nature of this particular beast. Everything is going to sort itself out in this type of novel.

Nice easy read. No violence or profanity, which I always consider a plus. Good storyline leading into the follow-up books in the series. I'm anxious to read book two and then on to the next 3 to complete them all. I expect them all to please me as this one has.

I would describe the book as a cozy read. I liked Claire, the housekeeper. But I didn't care for Liza. She seemed whiny. Very predicable ending. Seems like "taking a shower" was always mentioned in the book.

I enjoyed getting some back story to parts of the Cape Light series. The teenage attitude was really irritating, as was the teenager's father most of the time. I liked the rest of the characters.
