The series begins with the story of Seiya, the main hero, who is one of Athena's Knights. Seiya, along with the other Bronze Knights, must train hard to earn their ""Cloths,"" and take on other challenges as well. Knights of the Zodiac (Saint Seiya) has been a hit in Japan (where it is known as simply Saint Seiya), as well as many European countries including Spain, France, and Italy.

Pegasus Knight Seiya, and the rest of the Knight of the Zodiac, are warriors who put their lives in peril to defend the universe from the forces of evil. This means they will do whatever is necessary to win, even if they are killed in the process. Seiya finds out the hard way what this means when he is forced to bury some of his bravest comrades who have fallen in the battle. While he is lamenting their demise, on the rocky beach where he buried them, he is suddenly attacked! Were Seiya's friends really killed...and who was on the beach with them? There is trickery afoot, and Seiya comes to the horrible conclusion that he could very well be responsible for their deaths! Now he must confront those responsible in a fearsome showdown!

Masami Kurumada ( 車田正美, Kurumada Masami, born December 6, 1953) is a Japanese and writer, known for specializing in fighting manga featuring bishōnen and/or mahō shōnen. He is famous as the creator/author of popular manga, such as Ring ni Kakero, Fūma no Kojirō, Saint Seiya and B't X. His male protagonists are a reflection of the classical and modern society's archetype of the true men. The male characters in his works often display very masculine qualities and traits, and pursue to achieve courage and manhood perfection through sacrifice, selflessness and true heroism. He has won the best success award with Saint Seiya and the best inspiration award with Ring ni Kakero.

Ikki did what!?

Uh, anyway... more Silver Saint battles here. I don't know exactly what the fuck is going on, as the versions I'm reading appear to be VIZ scans, but there are a few weird things like calling the Whale guy "Morris" instead of "Moses." I guess to go with the older American idea of scrubbing all Judeo-Christian reference from Japanese fiction to avoid scaring soccer moms? But it's weird as well that Saori is called "Sienna" while the main lads all still have Japanese names....

I'd forgotten Kurumada doesn't always draw samefacey bishōnen, so I was briefly taken aback by the Crow Saint's face, until I recalled some of the earlier Bronze villains who looked similarly ugly.

As referenced at the start of this review, Ikki jumps back in to fight some Silvers, which is hype as fuck because it's Ikki and I guess he's my favorite of the main dudes right now. I've compared him previously to the later Vegeta of Dragon Ball, which is odd because Vegeta isn't really my favorite character in that other manga. But I guess Vegeta takes some influence from Piccolo, who is, so... eh.

I wish Kurumada was better at women's bodies, but... I don't know, Athena's legs are pretty sexy to me in the shots where she's being lifted by the crows. And Shaina has kind of a nice butt in one scene near the end of this volume. And I guess generally I think Marin is kind of hot, but largely from the asymmetry of her left leg thigh-high versus the full-leg tights on her right side.

I still love the Cloth diagrams at the end of volumes, but they sometimes piss me off because they make me want to buy as many Myth Cloth action figures as possible, but I've gotten to the manga so late that a number of them will be expensive as fuck on the aftermarket. Never mind how fucking fast new figure pre-orders always sell out....

Aha, for once I actually have gotten my hands on a physical copy of one of these volumes and was able to read it and add it to my collection!

Despite the somewhat over-the-top dramatics this volume opens with, I can easily say I have enjoyed it the most out of what I've read so far in this series. I feel like we genuinely get to see more of the lore and world-building in this volume than we have previously in the past 5, and I absolutely love that. Additionally, I feel like the majority of the characters are really growing on me in the best way and I love them so much. (Seiya himself I'm incredibly lukewarm on; he's not a compelling primary protag, he's obnoxious in the worst way, he's a sexist piece of mouthy shit, and he really needs to have his ass sat down and a bar of soap stuck in his mouth as punishment for a while.)

Additionally, while the pace of this series has felt very breakneck from the start, I do feel like the plot is actually starting to advance somewhere significant, now that we've got the plot reveal of Athena's reincarnation and what that means for the world at large and why she's been reincarnated. Hopefully I'm right on the money with that.

Także wszystko okazało się iluzją i prawdopodobnie bójka z Centaurem skończy się dobrze. O ile Hyoga przypomni sobie, że jego ataki są lodowe i że warto by ich użyć, by ugasić ognień. Ale nic nie trwa wiecznie i sępy z Sanktuarium dowiadują się, że nasza Srebrna banda przeżyła. Więc co, pewnie teraz będzie gonitwa za nimi i napierdalanko? Pewnie tak, ale raczej nie w tym tomie.

Marin to jednak jest spoko, chociaż ubranie to ma dziwne. Coś tak mi się wydaje, że jednak to nie jej Seiya szuka...

Korzystam z uprzejmości skalnatorów i oni są złotem. Tłumaczenie w wykonaniu grupy skanlacyjnej Pegasus jest tak cudownie dosadne i takie dwuznaczne, jak tylko się da. Cudownie się czyta jak Seiya pieprzy, że pomoże Athenie, jak tak pomoże mu z małym stojąco-palącym kłopotem. No cudo ;-).
