Two hot encounters in two hot shorts from bestselling author Jack Greene!
Hard Lessons: Studious Tom - resident nerd and social wallflower - has the enviable job of tutoring the college BMOC. Shawn needs to pass his math course in order to continue playing football, but once brain meets brawn the pair ends up studying more anatomy than numbers.
Security: Working late in his lab brings Tyler satisfaction with his career, though it's hell on his personal. Stolen moments ogling Gideon, the building's night guard, helps ease the loneliness, and when Tyler discovers he's being ogled himself he decides it's time for a whole new experiment.
Jack Greene loathes author bios, thinking they ruin the mystery. But if you must, picture a handsome twenty-something insomniac: junior partner in a law firm by day, guitarist in a punk band by night. He roams the streets on his Ducati when he can't sleep, gathering material for his books, and watches the sun come up over West Hollywood as he types away at his laptop. Peace only comes when he writes the words "the end".
Jack writes about men who fuck, and love, other men. Men who, like all men, sometimes don't behave like they should.
I really enjoyed both stories, but my favourite was jordan and Robert's story. I thought they were well written with lots of funny dialogues. I just wished they had been a little longer so I could have enjoyed those lovely characters a bit more.
This is a collection of two short stories with the same common theme: jock meets nerd and they make passionate sex, the happily ever after is an option, but there are good chances that it will happen.
Security: Tyler is a young geeky scientist who likes to work late at night. Tyler is a pretty man, and he is gay, and he likes his sex on the rougher side, but he has not many chances to enjoy it. Oh, if he wanted, Tyler could have plenty of it, but Tyler is not a party animal, and actually he spends most of his nights at work. And then Tyler likes big and strong men but with a kind heart, not an easy combination to find. Tyler wants to feel physically mastered by his lover, but deep inside, he prefers to know that he is the clever of the two. Gideon, the night security guard who works at Tyler’s firm is perfect for the role: Gideon is hunky and handsome, but truth be told, he doesn’t give me the idea to be a really clever man; don’t get me wrong, he is not dumb, only that he knows that Tyler has a bigger brain than him, and that is not a problem. Gideon knows where his value lays, and he is plenty capable of using what nature gifted him, to Tyler’s great pleasure.
Hard Lessons: Tom, a college student, is asked to tutor Shawn, the star quarterback of the university, who probably is very good on the field, but not so good on algebra. Tom has nothing in particular against Shawn, other than the fact that Tom is plenty jealous of the cheerleaders who can have a taste of Shawn, and instead he has to look for afar and dream. Tom has never had the chance to be near Shawn, and so, when at their first meeting, Shawn comes out like a very nice guy, and comes out also in another way, it’s with great pleasure that Tom shifts from teacher to student to learn something Shawn knows better than him: Tom is a virgin, and Shawn is willing to help him cover his gap. It’s almost funny to see how Tom is almost greedy to drag Shawn in his dorm room to be debauched, I have the feeling that Tom’s virginity is not something he wanted to save ;-)
In both stories, reality is a bit stretched to fit the plot, Gideon't sexual proveness is quite unbelievable and even Tom's eagerness at his first time, and readiness, but well, I don't believe that being realistic was one of the goal of the author. I did enjoy the joy that both couples feel and express through sex.
Both of these short stories are about guys who fall in lust when they meet. Hot sex ensues.
Security has Tyler, ascientist who likes to work late, finaly fulfill his fantaises about Gideon, the night guard. In the office and then at home...
Hard Lessons is about Tom, the nerdy gay student, who is asked to tutor Shawn, the straight football jock. Only, Shawn turns out not to be quite as straight as it seems....
4.5 stars ~ Two short stories that amused and tempted while building the heat. Jack Greene is on my list of authors whose works I'll be getting as they come out. Love it, them.. Heck, love his writing!
Both stories are structurally identical, and needlessly so. The first one is all bad, almost unspeakable. The second actually had a story to it, charming characters. It didn't make me think that the police would be involved at any point later on.
