Thank you to NetGalley for this ALC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really wanted to love this, but unfortunately I didn’t. The concept and plot had real potential and promised a great deal, yet the execution fell short. I found neither of the main characters likeable. The MMC was ice-cold, which I don’t usually mind, but his personality felt flat and one-dimensional. The FMC, on the other hand, came across as entitled and irritating.
Their relationship lacked any real foundation. They slept together and suddenly fell in love, and I’m sorry, but it surely couldn’t have been that good. There was no sense of yearning or gradual build-up, nothing to make their connection feel earned. On top of that, everything felt overly formal, from the dialogue to the overall structure, which only added to the emotional distance.
This book (and audiobook) is a spicy, fun, ferocious, addictive and dangerous good-time read !!! If you love stories about true love, fated mates, soul mates and vampires you will absolutely love this one !!! So good !
This one is a little jarring at first but honestly, let it cook.
The writing style reads like a period classic, yet the story is set in the present day. The dialogue is formal, almost antiquated, and the vampires are unapologetically traditional: coffins, human hunting, and bursting into flames in the sunlight, you get it. It feels like folklore mixed with urban fantasy.
Servaes is instantly fascinated by Hathor because he cannot hear her thoughts or control her. Hathor, fully human, begins guarded and cautious. When her feelings shift, it can feel sudden - but there’s something deeper at play here. Destiny is threaded through this story. Past lives, shared memories, and a sense of fate slowly unfold through flashbacks. The structure rewards patience, revealing emotional layers piece by piece.
I especially loved that this romance doesn’t soften its vampires. They are cold, cruel, and bloodthirsty. The world-building is strong, and the glimpses of history and the vampire council left me wanting more.
If you enjoy classic vampire lore blended with reincarnation, destiny, and a slightly old-world narrative voice, this one is worth the ride. I’m very intrigued to see what happens next.
Thank you to Tor Bramble | Macmillan Audio for the arc ♥️

Thank you to NetGallery and Macmillan UK Audio for this eARC And of course Michelle M. Pillow.
This review contains NO spoilers! And all that is said is my honest and non-biased opinion.
I am not going to give spoilers or massive details of what happens in this book. That would be silly and counterproductive!
Release date for this book is 5th Feb 2026
Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really wish I could give this more stars. I loved the idea of the plot and where it could have gone, I hated the characters, FMC was annoying and entitled and really arrogant, MMC was one dimensional and as cold as ice. I found the Spice and romance very cringe, instant take a ride to i love you but nothing in-between, no yeaning, no building. The structure and dialogue seemed so formal throughout!? Why?
Overall, I gave this 3 ⭐️ For the idea plot. Very original. Maybe this series will not be for me, hopefully others find what they need in this 😊
Thank you so much again to Netgallery, Michelle M. Pillow and Macmillan UK Audio
Redeemer of Shadows is a compelling and immersive introduction to the Tribes of the Vampire series. Michelle M. Pillow creates a rich, dark world filled with tension, danger, and emotional depth that pulls you in from the very beginning.
The characters are layered and intriguing, especially the hero, who carries both strength and vulnerability in a way that makes him impossible to ignore. There’s a strong sense of destiny woven throughout the story, paired with romance that feels earned rather than rushed. The balance between action, supernatural lore, and emotional connection keeps the story moving at a steady, addictive pace.
This book is perfect for readers who enjoy darker paranormal romance with complex characters, strong world-building, and a touch of suspense. If you like vampires with depth, tribal dynamics, and stories where redemption and desire collide, this is a must-read.

This book is apparently a rewrite of a story that Michelle M Pillow wrote a while back that has been reworked and republished. It is rather dark compared to most of her books, but of course it’s still a romance with a fairly happy ending. Servaeś is an old vampire and Hathor seems human, but the story tells the tale of a forbidden long ago love that they had. I enjoyed this book and the nonlinear way that Ms Pillow tells this story with flashbacks that slowly reveal the background. I did get a bit hung up on the body count, not because I don’t like dark books, but because I kept thinking that this many bodies that had no liquid left in them would have set the police looking for them. Other than that it’s a pretty good story if you’re into vampire stories.

I really enjoyed the whole idea of this story. Vampires with a ruling society, suggestions of cursed lovers and a connection between Hathor and Servaes that is too strong to be denied made for many interesting things to happen. The cruel darkness of the new vampires I found disturbing especially right at the beginning of the book. By the end, the shocking gore factor had greatly reduced. Following this couple’s interaction both in person and via dreams of past events revealed so much! I loved how things sort-of resolved in the end. With changes in place, perhaps more is to come for this couple.

The premise for this book was so good but the constantly changing POVs made it difficult to love. It gives Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood vibes mixed with a really fun timehop storyline reminiscent of Outlander. I found the narrative with the younger vampires too drawn out and would have preferred more meddling by the elders on the council who sounded fascinating. The FMCs aunt was a total babe and I loved every page she was on. The end that explained who the MCs were to each other kicked this up a notch and I would love to read a prequel about them. Overall, the vibes were vibing and the audiobook narrator was excellent so I found this one enjoyable.
✨ Thanks PanMac for the eArc, my opinions are my own ✨
FANTASTIC! Content warning. This is a little darker and more graphic than her other books. I've never been disappointed by one of Michelle's books and I'm not disappointed now! What a story and the ending was the Chef's kiss. This story takes you from the present to the harrowing past, of a love lost then found only to be lost again in heartache in a seamless transition. Just imagine if Twilight and Interview With A Vampire had a baby, that's this book. I was reading and couldn't stop. This review is my opinion and is not AI generated.

This was a dark story in so many ways. There is vampires have the mask of kindness removed. There is joy for young vampires as they murder and torture humans. For death is the key to their lives. But there is light, innocence and love in the form of Hathor the human who loves unconditionally, and her aunt Georgie. I cried, not gentle tears but painful ones. This is my proof the author created a world of breathable pain. The ending had me laughing (quietly) with relief. I must say there is nothing half done, even the heat and seductive moments. One travels and experiences it all. Oh did I mention heat? Hot, very hot!!!.

I loved this book, it was very different to other vampire books that I have read. This one was well written and the main characters, Servaes is as intriguing as he is dangerous. Hathor is beautiful and a woman of her own mind. She meets him accidently when she strolls into the underground vampire club and sees Servaes. From there their journey of romance begins. But some vampires are not happy because they cannot 'read' her and determine that she should be killed. A fabulous read and am now away to read book 2.

Have a tissue handy on the two days you allow for this dark, steamy, supernatural, midlife, contemporary, philosophical, paranormal, vampire second-chance, urban fantasy forbidden romance, mostly during the fall in London, with several particularly gruesome passages early on, abduction, adventure, age-gap, families, good-vs-evil, historical-fiction, humor, magic, politics, time-travel, torture, love, gentle chuckles at resisting fate, and hope.

The book dives straight into a decadent vampire club and keeps up the tensions and passion throughout. I loved Hathors discovery of herself throughout. Servaes was interview with a vampire style and really enjoyed all the historical touches.
The narrator for the audio was really good and although I don’t normally like solo with one person doing the male and female voices I found the voices done really well in this audio.
An interesting start to a series that I own, but have yet to read. Servaes has survived many things but resents his long life. Until Hathor stumbles in from the dark. Now gaining a new perspective, he finds himself with a new lease on life. A bit long in length, so I found myself skipping over some of the pages but what I did like was the idea that love transcends time. 3.5 stars
I've read 25 plus books by this author which I loved but this book is on a whole other level. It's much longer and detailed and I feel she really had room to weave her story and get to grips with the characters. I found it hard going at first as I was used to her other style of writing but once I got into the novel I couldn't put it down. I'm going to read the whole series. Absolutely blown away.
This book was pretty good. I saw another reader compare it to the Twilight series and Anita Blake series.....that is a bad comparison. It is more of a Interview with a vampire story with a dash of Anita Blake spice. I found myself skipping a lot of the book (Mostly the filler stuff with Aunt Georgia)just to get to the story parts about the vamp. Those were pretty interesting. She did a good job laying a believable historical back ground. I have purchased the second book. I hope it doesn't disappoint. :)
I loved the plot of he story. A vampire who has lost his love but didn't realize he would meet her in the future. I loved it very original. However the heroine killed the story for me. She seemed weak, annoying, naive and in some parts ignorant even though the truth was right there. I couldn't relate to her nor did I want to. I really enjoyed Servaes' character he was on that threshold between despicable and gentlemanly. The story flowed and the only reason I read the rest and not stopped was to find out the end so I could say hey I finished it.
I have not read those books in order, starting first with The Jaded Hunter, but the order in which you read them doesn't matter in the least, as each story seems to be its own, with only several recurring characters.
This said, I fell in love with Hathor's and Servaes' love story, one that transcends time. And once I really got time to sit and enjoy the book, I was completely and utterly lost.
Only a warning: it's not a book for the faint of heart. Some scenes are vivid in cruelty and are not made for every reader.
Hathor has come to visit her aunt and only living family. She gets lost on an outing and stumbles into a club the likes of which shes never seen. Servaes is performing on stage and catches sight of Hathor. They are drawn to each other but Hathor sneaks out before Servaes reaches her. So many twists and turns in this amazing story. I highly recommend this book.
Several times this book could have concluded on a positive note and although it does end happy, the author granted more story into this couple. American visiting her aunt in London, Hathor gets sent on an unexpected adventure. Hathor and her vampire Servaes romance is the focal point to this story but we do read what happens around them too. Well rounded story that warms the heart. Definitely recommend.
great box set so far all u.f. books. having fun reading it so far the first story I read was The Guardians by Mandy M. Roth then Redeemer of Shadows by Michelle M. Pillow. which I will say are my usual go to authors and they do it again with their series books. I cant wait to finish this set because they always team up with more authors that make you want to jump into their books too.
I have been reading/listening to Michelle Pillows warlock McGregor saga's since I got the first 2 as a free offer. This series does not follow that same pattern of quiet humorous characters and is darker and deeper. The end of the book was uncertain and the tension maintained. I look forward to the next in this series.
This was a difficult read for me, however I got attached to the characters even though they fought the inevitable way to long for my taste. So I gave it four stars because of the characters but would give it a three for the writing style.
This great book has a dark storyline that is lightened by intense emotions, humor and excellent character development. You won't go wrong with this book and I can't wait to read the next!
What a great new twist on a Vampire love story! I am so excited to read the next book in this series. I don’t want to give anything away so you just have to read it for yourself!
