Bravo! First time reading this author, and thoroughly enjoyed it! The story had everything you’d expect from page 1 to the end!
Imagine you are a CSI being on the run for 7 months, hiding out from 2 killers tracking you in the vast wilderness in a terrible snow storm. Looking out a peephole from a deserted cabin, there is an eyeball staring at you from the other side!!
And that’s just the start!
Besides the killers (Eli and Vinny), enter a K-9 police officer and his dog, freezing blinding snow storms, lack of heat, clothing, food, and on-going suspense and thrills with just a light touch of a very distant romance,
This story was phenomenal in every way, narration was perfection, and earns 5 well deserved STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for giving me goosebumps at the end!
Absolutely loved it, and am definitely looking forward to more from this author!
Snowbound Escape (Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit Book 8) by Dana Mentink is a gripping five-star thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first page. I couldn't put it down and almost read it in one sitting. This is a top-notch addition to the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series, and it's must-read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspenseful thrillers and unforgettable characters.
The story follows crime tech Mara Gilmore, falsely accused of a double murder and on the run from the law and the real killers. Officer Tanner Ford and his loyal K-9 partner Britta are tasked with finding and rescuing her. As they traverse the frozen wilderness of Mount Rainier National Park, the tension and suspense build, creating an electrifying atmosphere.
Mara's determination, resourcefulness, and wit make her a compelling and likable character. Tanner's unwavering commitment to saving her is admirable, and his bond with Britta adds depth to the story. The cold, unforgiving weather becomes a character of its own, making you shiver with every page.
Dana Mentink's writing style is nothing short of extraordinary, and the story is filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing. As I was reading, I found myself thinking about faith and survival, and how love can grow even in the direst circumstances.
Snowbound Escape is a heart-pounding chase filled with action, well-developed characters, and very impactful messages of faith and forgiveness. Dana Mentink has delivered a fantastic and satisfying addition to the series. Don't miss out on this extraordinary read! It has been well over a month since I read Snowbound Escape, but I’m still thinking about it and visualizing many incredible scenes!
I received a complimentary digital copy of Snowbound Escape from the Celebrate Lit Publicity Group. I am neither obligated to write a positive review nor compensated for doing so. What you have just read reflects my genuine assessment of this Love Inspired Suspense novel.
Sweet romance plus an adorable puppy dog, this book was INCREDIBLE!!!!!! I loved watching Mara and Tanner’s relationship develop! The plot was intriguing. In sort, I’d highly recommend this quick read!!!
Mara is used to fending for herself. She feels she is unworthy of trust and must always be independent as a result. I loved seeing Mara’s grit, determination, and resourcefulness!!! She sets a wonderful example of keeping a positive attitude, even when forced to live with virtually no access to a heater or hot water. (Last week we had temps in the 40s; even with the heater and a pile of blankets, I was complaining!)
Tanner is a duty-bound sweetheart. AND he comes with a dog, which is always a bonus!!!! I love how he never gives up on helping Mara and how much he wants to protect her!!!!! It was fascinating how Tanner was able to use the limited tools at his disposal to keep himself and Mara alive.
This book was a quick, easy read. It took me less than two hours to finish it. If you’re looking for a quick break from life, this book would be the perfect choice!!!
I received an ARC of this book. My opinions are my own. A positive review was not required.
I was so excited to get this book. Dana Mentink is one of my favorite authors. I read the whole book the same day I received it. I was just going to read one chapter but the story grabbed me and pulled me in and I just couldn't let go.
This is a true large print Love inspired Suspense read. I love this size. I like the way it holds well in my hands.
I love rescue missions. So when Officer Tanner Ford and his sweet K-9 partner need to track and locate Mara Gilmore the witness to the crime, it becomes a clock ticking rescue.
As the real murderer closes in on Mara Tanner and Britta rescue Mara but now they're all on the run trying to outwit a fearless bad person.
All of this running and keeping ahead of a criminal mind takes place in the Pacific Northwest. It was intersting to read about snow and survival.
Excitement at its best! Such a wonderful read. Don't miss it!
What an exciting read! Mara and Tanner are on the run from the bad guy their team has been chasing for 7 months and they are doing it in basically a blizzard and out in all the elements. It’s an quite an adventure for them as they try to outsmart the villain and his henchman. Fun read!
For seven months Mara Gilmore has been running for her life from Eli Ballard and his conspirator who had set her up for the murder of her former boyfriend and his new girlfriend to cover up his gun running. He had threatened her father who had Alzheimer's if she turned to any of her former canine team members, including her half-brother. Now in a remote cabin in the middle of Mount Ranier National Park, Eli and Vinny have her boxed in during a fierce blizzard.
PNK9 Officer Tanner Ford and his boxer Britta have been trying to find their co-worker Mara and have tracked her to this cabin when they hear shooting. Tanner drives Eli and Vinny off, but he cannot get Mara back to his car before the men slash his tires.
As Tanner and Britta try to get Mara to safety across a frozen wilderness, he finds himself attracted to her, something he promised himself he would never do after his former fiancée's death.
This is a Christian inspirational suspense novel with two developing characters and a loveable dog in a death-defying situation. The romance and language are clean. The plot moves along rapidly.
“She was exhausted from running, her body battered by cold and hunger, weakened by seven months of living as a fugitive. Not just a fugitive from the law, but on the run from the two predators stalking her since the moment she’d witnessed a double murder back in April.”
Snowbound Escape is a very fast-paced Christian romantic suspense novel about 24-year-old Mara Gilmore, a Pacific Northwest Canine Officer, who has been on the lam for seven months. Seven months of being totally alone, relying only on herself for survival, trying to stay one step ahead of the murderer who wants her dead for what she has witnessed.
Her teammate, Tanner Ford, who has come with his trained boxer K9, Britta, to rescue her, is hampered by the continual blizzard-like conditions and the wiliness and cunning of Eli, the killer. So many harrowing attempts on their lives. Will the weather finish them off before Eli does?
While Mara has severe trust issues, partly stemming from her upbringing, Tanner’s heart is frozen by more than the blizzard outside. Can the two work together under great duress without someone losing more than their life?
I liked how Mentink shows that God is working in Mara’s heart to become more open to those around her, and in Tanner’s as well. He is also working in a third heart very important to those two, to heal and restore.
Mentink has a humorous side, and some of that ekes out (just a little) in various places. One spot was deadly serious, and yet, oh, so funny, just in the way Mentink describes it. I should have been shaking, but I was rolling with laughter instead. I would need that bit of humor to carry me through all the dangers Mara and Tanner would face.
God, of course, is the most important help one can have when the chips are down. Mara and Tanner take turns edifying each other as needed. But next to God, bring in the dogs! Britta is a beautiful boxer who has already befriended Mara, has excellent tracking skills, and intelligence and loyalty like none other. She is a scene stealer, for sure! Be sure and grab your copy of this book to read in front of a warm fire with a hot drink and a canine or feline friend!
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, plus I bought my own ebook. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.
Notable Quotables:
“God has the final word. Wait on the Lord and He will give you courage and healing.”
“We’re commanded to love one another and when you don’t allow people to do that, you rob them of a blessing.”
“Sharing was messy and painful, like picking a wound that hadn’t fully scabbed over.”
“God would give him enough, moment by moment, perhaps, but it would be sufficient.”
I have been a Dana Mentink fan for a long time. She is a master at writing intense, high action suspense stories. This cat and mouse story was no exception. I loved the frozen setting and I felt like the relationship between the main characters developed very naturally which is often challenging to do in a fast-paced suspense story.
This is the last book in an eight part series, but I did not have any issues reading it as a standalone. I did not read any of the rest of the books in the series and I was not confused at all.
Thank you to the author and publisher for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I really enjoyed reading about how Mara and Tanner elude Vinny and Eli through snowstorms and cold. I loved all the twists and turns and the romance and the wonderful suspense. I also loved Britta the dog. I enjoyed the emotions and the inspiration. I received a copy of the book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Nonstop action from the beginning as Myra runs for her life amidst facing the snow and brutally cold temperatures. I loved how strong and smart she was to use survival skills to be on the run for seven months before Tanner and Britta his K-9 companion appear on the scene to help. It will take working along side each other as well as trusting each other to survive. It is a harrowing snowmobile ride of a story that has you shivering from the description of the conditions and the killer closing in. The perfect book to snuggle by the fire with a blanket and hot chocolate as you quickly turn pages. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
I enjoyed this book and found it difficult to put down. I loved all the twists and turns and suspense. This is a clean read that you will be glad your picked up.
I’ve been a Dana Mentink fan for a long time now. In fact, she is the author that made me start reading LIS stories again. I know when I read her stories I’m going to find a great plot with a lot of action, pops of humor, great characters, and a good faith message.
This story started with a heart pounding scene that had me holding my breath and wondering how in the world our main character was going to get out of the situation she was in! This is an “on the run” story, which is one of my favorite tropes. I liked both Tanner and Mara and how their relationship developed so naturally. Sometimes in these intense situations, the relationship seems implausible, but this one was spot on! Somehow, even though I was reading this story while the temps were 100+ outside, I was literally cold! That’s how immersed I felt in this story and how realistic Dana Mentink made it all feel. While the faith thread was light, it was perfect for this story and I loved the following quote:
“Tanner would never understand why she had to die, but he was coming to terms with the mystery of a God who both loved and said no.”
Bottom line? Go buy this book! I loved Tanner and Mara’s story from start to finish! There is literally nothing I would change about it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. The faith thread was light. 5 stars!
What I think you should know: Snowbound Escape by Dana Mentink is a Love Inspired Romantic Suspense. The eighth book in the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit Series, however it can be read as a standalone. This book is about K-9 Handler Tanner and his dog Britta
What you might need to know: Mara was accused of murder and has been on the run from the real killer for seven months. Tanner lost his fiancée to cancer.
What I think about this book: Buckle up for a fast paced suspense, in true Mentink fashion there is not a slow moment in this book. From the first page we learn of the struggles that Mara has had while trying to evade a killer. She is such a strong character, but has come to see that she can’t stay safe and clear her name alone. Tanner has closed his heart after his loss, but Mara and her strength are able to chip away at the wall he has built. Britta was fascinating as a tracking dog as a boxer is not a traditional tracking breed. I loved this book and can’t wait to see what adventure Dana takes us on in her next book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit and the Author, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Snowbound Escape is written by Dana Mentink. This is part of the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series. The series is written by multiple authors and are all able to be read as stand alone stories.
Crime scene tech Mara witnessed a double murder of her ex boyfriend and his new girlfriend. She is also being framed for the murder. She fled the crime scene running for her life and has been in the run for the last 7 months. Officer Tanner and his K9 boxer Britta have been trying to locate her.
He finally finds her holed up in a deserted cabin. He shows up right in the nick of time. The killer and his hired man are trying to eliminate her as a witness. Forced to flee during a wicked storm. Can they survive the elements to clear Mara’s name or will the bad guys succeed.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
Snowbound Escape by Dana Mentink is a work of Christian fiction. Mara Gilmore, a crime tech, is on the run, fearing for her life and freedom. Wrongly accused of two murders, she has been on the run. The real murderer is closing in on her. Officer Tanner Ford and his K-9 partner finally manage to find her, and they must keep her safe.
This book is non-stop danger, action, and adventure. The book takes some twists and turns that kept me interested. I loved getting to know Mara Tanner and seeing how their relationship developed.
Asher, Mara’s half-brother, and other members of the team play an important role in the ending of this story. The characters are fantastic. The writing style drew me in and kept me interested in reading.
So, if you enjoy Christian fiction works, check out Snowbound Escape by Dana Mentink for yourself. I definitely recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Dana has hit it out of the park with this one. It was one on-the-edge-of-my-seat journey. The characters are well-developed with layers and the tension between them kept me wondering what would happen next.
Mara, on the run, blamed for two murders is being hunted by the killers. She's part of the PNK9 team. Tanner and Britta, his K9 dog are tracking her for a rescue. But nothing goes according to plan.
The story has lots of twists and turns and is definitely a page-turner. An exhilarating read that will stay in your head long after you turn the last page.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and chose to review it. A positive review is not required and all opinions are my own.
The action never stops in this fast-paced suspense novel. Ms. Mentink is a masterful storyteller in this genre keeping me on the edge of my seat as Tanner Ford and his K-9 partner locate Mara Gilmore.
They are on the run to save their lives as a murderer is closing in on them. They are wet, cold, tired, and hungry, but they must keep their wits about them to stay alive. I was exhausted just reading what they went through to avoid becoming the next victims of the killer. There is heart pounding excitement throughout this book.
If you like a well written, fast paced storyline, you will love this one. Kudos to the author for penning another wonderful book that I couldn’t put down. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This was an exciting read. Falsely accused of a double murder that she had witnessed, crime tech Mara Gilmore has been on the run from the law and the real killer and his henchman for 7 months. K-9 officer Tanner Ford and his partner Britta finally tracks down and rescues Mara from the bad guys after she gives her half-brother and fellow officer Asher a clue of her whereabouts. Now Tanner, Mara, and Britta must brave the bitter wintery elements to outwit the bad guys, not knowing who to trust besides their teammates. Tanner and Mara are self sufficient but must learn to trust each other, especially with the real killer after them. Snowbound Escape will keep you turning the pages until you have read it in one sitting.
This story winds up the big mystery of the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit continuity series, who killed Stacy Stark and her boyfriend, Jonas. Dana Mentink writes a riveting story full of action, suspense, and intrigue as she tells the story of Mara Gilmore, the crime tech ex-girlfriend of the murdered Jonas. She was seen standing over the dead bodies, and she ran when some of the K-9 unit called to her. She has been on the run for 7 long months, but the true killer has been on her heels. Tanner Ford and his _K-9 partner, Britta, have been sent to help Mara escape the true killer. Can they survive the blizzard conditions as well as the killer who is always one step behind? There will be a Christmas wrap up story that will tie up any loose ends. Looking forward to reading it!
I was excited to read this story. The description of the location and weather was so good that I was cold most of the time and had no desire to be stuck in snow. It began with suspenseful action and never let up until the end. My heart broke for crime tech Mara thinking she couldn’t trust family and needed to protect her family at risk to herself. But Officer Tanner and his amazing K-9 were there to help. Still, I worried at times they wouldn’t survive the harsh conditions. Definitely a must read and a great contribution to the PCN K-9 Unit book series. I voluntarily read an advance copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Snowbound Escape (Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit #8) Dana Mentink Snowbound Escape is book number eight in the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series. Wow, What a ride! I really loved Snowbound Escape, and the characters were real like. Mara Gilmore accused of a double murder runs for her life. Tanner Ford and his K-9 partner Britta trying to find her before it is to late. He s not the only one looking for her. They go into a frozen blizzard. Will the blizzard help them or kill them? A suspense the will have you hanging on for your life. Take time to breathe. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed reading this love inspired suspense novel by Dana Mentink. It is a clean book with suspense, action, and a sweet romance budding throughout the book. The writing is so creative and detailed that there were times I had to look around my living room to make sure I wasn’t in the blizzard with Mara and Tanner. I enjoyed seeing the growth of the characters and reading about Britta their canine companion. One of my favorite quotes was when Mara talked about going to church services for coffee and food but, also, the preaching reminded Mara that “God had the final word and it kept me going”.
A very exciting story of Mara trying to Escape and get away from the killers. Officer Tanner and his K-9 partner locate Mara while the bad guys are after her. Will they be able to save Mara from the bad guys? Or will Mara have to help save them? A very exciting book. Will the snow or cold get them or the killers? I recommend reading this book.
This is the first book I read in the series. I definitely want to read more of the series. Each book is stand alone.
I received an advanced copy of the book from the author. This book review is my own opinion.
I love this book! As Mara and Tanner run for their lives they are both fighting to overcome scars from their pasts. They learn to face their pasts and their fears. Can they heal enough for a future. The story of Mara starts with book one of the series and her situation makes tiny appearances throughout the series. This is book 8. Other than a couple of novellas this concludes the series. I look forward to the last stories that bring closure. I will be a bit sad to say goodbye to the characters including the dogs.
First time reading this author. I really liked this book a lot. Mara has been on the run after being accused of something so horrible. Who can she trust? She can only trust herself. But when Tanner comes to her rescue she not sure she can even trust him. He tells her that her half brother sent him. Apparently he was the right man for the job....he can his k-9 Britta. Mara puts her faith and trust after all they do. It gets really dangerous, and there running for there lives.
I highly recommend this book. I will be checking the other books in this series as various authors have wrote.
The book is definitely pro Catholic but not in a propaganda kinda way. That being said it does have a romance building throughout the book and handles that well without being graphic. There is kissing but nothing too heated. Scenes feel romantic not sexual in nature. The story is interesting and keeps the reader wanting more. Where the book lacks for me is the conclusion of the books bad guys and how they get foiled.
Excitement from beginning to end! Mara has gotten herself in a dangerous situation. Tanner( a policeman) and Tanner’s K-9 dog Britta have come to try and rescue her . There is danger, scary moments, hope, and forgiveness in this great Love Inspired Suspenseful book. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next!!! It definitely deserves all five stars and more!
