A LITTLE ABOUT KATE... Kate Angelo once sold a lion to a circus in Shreveport after her mom realized lions weren’t great house pets. Growing up, Kate was a bookworm, dog groomer, exotic pet wrangler, horse trainer, cowgirl, and teenage pool shark. After aging out of foster care, Kate cultivated her inner computer nerd and worked as a web programmer. It was during a visit to Australia that Kate encountered Jesus and left the corporate world to pursue a life in ministry.
From her home in Southwest Missouri, Kate serves alongside her husband, strengthening and encouraging marriages and families as the Vice President of their nonprofit. After raising their 5 children, Kate and her husband are now fluent in both sarcasm and eye rolls—a language they plan to teach their grandkids.
Kate is a Romantic Suspense author, coffee addict, tech guru, productivity enthusiast, expert knitter, avid boater, dog lover, prayer warrior, and known klutz. With Willow the long-haired chihuahua taking up half her desk space, Kate writes thrilling stories with flawed characters who encounter hope and healing while ducking danger along the way.
Hunting The Witness is a fast paced suspense story. A witness with amnesia and a heroic FBI agent in hiding himself. You won't regret this great page turner or any book by Kate Angelo.
My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. The opinion in this review is entirely my own.
Hunting the Witness by Kate Angelo brings readers to the edge of suspense and lets them dangle. Belinda Lewis is working in the wilderness, on the verge of a scientific breakthrough when she’s attacked. FBI Special Agent Jonah Phillips is supposed to be off the grid, but stumbles upon the attacked and intervenes. The problem? She’s injured and has no memory of who she is. The bigger problem? Someone is intent on killing her.
I love the non-stop action and intriguing premise. But even though the story is fast-paced, the relationship between Jonah and Belle doesn’t seem forced – they have a natural chemistry. I also love the minor characters of Piney Village – I hope there are more books and that this is a series. I especially love Stella. She’s the town vet, but the only one with any medical knowledge, plus she has a search and rescue dog.
If you are a fan of action, plot twists, run-for-your-life suspense and small-town settings, be sure to pick up your copy of Hunting the Witness.
I received an ebook review copy of this book from the author. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Kate Angelo’s debut Love Inspired Suspense novel, Hunting the Witness, has so many twists and turns. I couldn’t put the book down! Belle and Jonah’s relationship was so sweet, and I loved how they used their trials to draw closer to God. I loved all of the side characters as well, especially Stella and her dog Oscar. The plot twists were amazing. I can’t wait to read more of Kate’s books in the future.
I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.
With her sophomore novel, Kate Angelo proves that she is on her way to being a force to be reckoned with in the Christian mystery/suspense romance market. I enjoyed “Hunting the Witness” not only for the twists and turns that the story takes, but for the characters themselves. Belle and Jonah’s story was the focal point, but there were multiple supporting characters who were interesting and whose stories just beg to be told.
As is to be expected with a LIS story, Jonah and Belle have challenges to overcome, but find themselves growing as individuals by the end. Angelo tells their story without being preachy, but naturally with the way that the story unfolds. The book allows the introspective reader the opportunity to question whether they may need to grow in the same way that the characters needed. For me, that’s a huge bonus, because as much as I love a good page-turner, stories can also highlight an area in our own lives where we are challenged – in other words, they can teach us while also entertaining us and that’s a good thing. Angelo does a fantastic job of entertaining us and providing an opportunity to grow in our own lives.
One of the most fascinating aspects of the novel for me may have actually been unintended by the author – the partially told story of our villain. In other words, I don’t think the author set out to tell this part of the story, but my takeaway from their story was a reminder that we live in a fallen world and that even people who do evil things are still made in God’s image. Furthermore, as difficult as it can be sometimes, our heart should break for those people, not because there shouldn’t be any consequences for their evil acts, but because they are lost, perhaps for all eternity. At least this villain did for me. Read the book to see if you come to the same conclusion.
While this review went much deeper than I originally thought it would, the bottom line is this: Kate Angelo wrote a great story. It’ll keep you reading because you want to find out what comes next. The conclusion will please you if you like stories with a happy ending. It’ll make you think (if you want it to). Honestly, if I had any complaints about this book, it would only be that I really wanted more… more story that is!
The author did send me this book for review consideration but all opinions are my own. I did not promise to write a positive review in return for the copy of the book, nor would I ever make such a commitment.
I loved "Hunting the Witness" by Kate Angelo! This little book was full of unexpected twists and turns which I never saw coming! I had a hard time putting this one down! I highly recommend this book!
My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. The opinion in this review is entirely my own.
As a hiker, I love that this romantic suspense novel starts out on a hiking trail. After being attacked, Dr. Belinda Lewis loses her memory and isn't sure who to trust as she tries to figure out why she is being targeted.
While on a sabbatical FBI Special Agent Jonah Phillips crosses paths with Dr. Lewis and tries to help her.
Lots of action in the pages.
My gratitude to the author for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.
I chose a dark, stormy day to settle in with this book because it was a perfect mood setting for a suspense novel. Let me tell you, I would have felt the ominous presence and still had my hair standing on end in anticipation at what Kate Angelo had written on a bright, sunshine-y day. Once I read the first chapter, I put everything else on the backburner because I was completely invested.
We are immediately introduced to Dr. Belinda Lewis who is in the middle of a research project for a unique form of algae to create an all-natural sunscreen. We quickly learn that she helped save a woman from losing her life to a serial killer. But now, that same serial killer has his eyes set on her. FBI agent Jonah Phillips is hiding out nearby as he’s off-grid and off-assignment. This is one of those crucial moments where we realize that even if we’re not exactly where we want to be in life, sometimes we’re exactly where we need to be.
Jonah risks his being discovered and saves Belinda from the Trailside Strangler. From that moment, she has to find trust in him and a hope that Jonah can help her recover the memories she’s lost and testify against the serial killer. I loved how their off-setting personalities begin to mesh and help them each grow as individuals and a couple bound together by (potential) tragedy. The author did a phenomenal job of giving us a book that keeps the hairs on the back of your neck and on your arms while giving you a sense of warmth with faith, love, and reminding you of what is truly important in life.
I received a copy to review. All opinions are my own.
When Dr. Belinda Lewis is attacked in the woods while conducting research, she loses her memory. Undercover FBI agent Jonah Phillips saves her from the murderous man and takes her to his cabin, where he tries to help her recover. Soon they are on the run from the killer, but it’s only a matter of time before he finds them…
I enjoyed this book very much. The constant peril the characters were in left me breathless and kept me turning the pages! I never would have guessed the unexpected twists toward the end of the book. I loved reading about the beautiful setting and it was easy to sympathize with the characters as they fought through their dangerous circumstances. I was grateful for the overarching theme of trusting God, no matter what happens. I can’t wait for Kate Angelo’s next book and I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys, clean, inspirational suspense.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book for the author. A positive review was not required, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This is my first time reading a book by author Kate Angelo and I can honestly say I’m hooked. I will definitely be checking out more of her books. I highly recommend this book! You will not be disappointed as it has many twists and turns. It’s action packed from beginning to end and keeps you guessing. Happy Reading!
Ooh boy, I loved this story! I read a lot of Love Inspired Suspense novels and this is going to be one of my favorites. My absolute favorite element was Belinda’s nickname-that thrilled my bookish heart. The mystery is excellent and the surprises woven in to the plot made the story even better. I also really liked the side characters and I really want Stella to get her own book-and I have an idea of who her hero should be. A great read!
I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
You cannot do this job without God. A statement given to FBI Special Agent Jonah Phillips. Something for him to consider as he was temporarily living off the grid. After all, how long could he be undercover before his cover would be blown?
Dr. Belinda Lewis is a phycologist, studying algae and what it can do. Attacked while alone in the woods she lands in a web of ongoing danger. There are endless curveballs, so many in fact that you begin to wonder if losing her memory would be the easiest one.
Received through Love Inspired Suspense and BookFunnel, this book is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat, trying to decipher who wants her dead and how does Jonah figure into this mess! These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.
I received this book as an ARC with no expectations for a positive review. I was blown away with the plot twists that Ms. Angelo placed in this book. Every time, I thought I had something one figured out, another one came into light. I loved the story of Belinda (Belle) and Jonah's story. What happens when two people who are in hiding come together? Who can they trust including each other? This is a book you will not want to put down.
There are several plot twists in this novel that I definitely didn’t see coming, which made it a lot of fun to read. I may have had some inkling as to why the heroine was being hunted, but I was still surprised. Belinda Lewis is the heroine and her character is smart, capable, and likable. She’s a quick thinker and didn’t need the hero to get her out of every jam. Yay, for that. The hero, Jonah Phillips, was an interesting character that had a few surprises to deal with during the story. He was a good guy and totally likable. Belinda and Jonah have good chemistry and worked as a couple. The faith element is subtle but powerful and nicely done. Hunting the Witness is a quick read, has good suspense, and a sweet romance. I received an advance reader copy for review, but I’ve ordered the ebook because I think it’s important to support new authors.
“Hunting the Witness” is Kate Angelo’s debut with Love Inspired Suspense and it has all the elements readers expect – riveting premise, great characters, and a dog!
Belinda Lewis loses her memory when she is attacked and she has to rely on FBI agent Jonah Phillips for help. With Jonah in hiding, he has to be careful that no one recognizes him while trying to keep Belinda safe.
It was fairly easy for me to figure out the villain, but then Ms. Angelo added a twist that makes this book stand out among others I’ve read. I am looking forward to reading more books – hopefully Love Inspired Suspense – from this author.
A catchy title, an attention-grabbing cover, and a plot that keeps you turning the pages. What more could you ask for in a suspense novel? How about a heroine with amnesia, a serial killer determined to silence her, and an unassuming hero who appears at just the right time? Still unconvinced? Grab a copy of Kate Angelo's new book and prepare to lose yourself in a thrilling story with twists, turns, and a few surprises that you don't see coming!
Hunting the Witness has intriguing characters, a promising romance, and a faith message that's flawlessly woven into the story. This is Angelo's second book and it clearly demonstrates why her first book was such a success. She understands what suspense lovers want and she delivers!
I received a complimentary copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.
Let’s give a big hearty welcome to author Kate Angelo for her Love Inspired Suspense debut, Hunting the Witness! Right off the bat I can say I sure hope we see more from her. Dr. Belinda Lewis is high in the Colorado mountains doing research when she witnesses a man attacking another woman. Having seen him, she’s his newest target, and he’s not going to give up. Surviving an attack, she wakes up remembering nothing but his soulless eyes. Jonah Phillips is also up in those same mountains, an FBI agent trying to stay out of sight and off grid due to a case. He hears Belinda’s screams and is able to rescue her…for now. Now they are on the run, trying to keep safe and hidden, while at the same time trying to catch him AND help Belinda get her memory back. As Belinda and Jonah navigate through the twists and turns of non-stop action, can they turn to the One who will always make those twisted paths straight? Will they see that maybe the Lord has forged a path leading to a new future for them…together? We all know I love an epilogue, too, and Hunting the Witness delivers! Yay! I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.
HUNTING THE WITNESS by Kate Angelo is the page-turning adventures of Dr. Belinda Lewis, a phycologist - algae scientist, and Jonah Phillips, special agent with the FBI. Strangers thrown together under dangerous circumstances, they have to rely on each other in order to avoid the Trailside Strangler and any attempts on their lives while fleeing the Rocky Mountain National Park to find help.
One minute Belinda is working on her research of conjugating green algae for an all-natural sun screen on Eagle Lake in Colorado and the next she finds herself injured, in a place she doesn’t recognize, confronted by a man that frightens her and doesn’t know who she is or anything about her life. Dare she trust this man? There’s something familiar about his eyes. When it’s soon evident that someone is out to kill them, what choice does she have?
Jonah is laying low after fear his identity had been compromised, by orders of Special Agent in Charge Chase Bishop. Without a choice in the matter, he’s now staying at his off the grid cabin way back in the woods. He has to admit he loves the solitude and the silence for a nice change of pace from the danger and mystery of his “real” life of convincing thugs he’s one of them in order to infiltrate the mobs to get evidence to bring them down with convictions within the legal system. That all changed with the sounds of a woman’s scream. She’s definitely in danger. He must find her and help her. When he can finally see her, she’s too far away, all he can do is watch as a man tosses her over a cliff. Rushing to her, he finds she is injured, but miraculously she’s still alive. Knowing the man might be down to see if he’s deed was successful, he gets her up and takes her to his cabin. When she rallies some and he asked her name, it sounded like she had said Belle. Who is this Belle? Who was that man? And why would he want to hurt this beautiful woman? All he knows for sure is that Chase isn’t going to like the fact that his actions might compromise months of work if anyone recognizes him and his cover is blown. However, he can’t lay low and leave this woman alone in this – whatever this is. When someone sets his cabin on fire, Jonah and Belle are on the start of the race for their lives knowing that the man that tried to kill Belle before is now after them both. Even when they find help, the outside world is still far away due to rock slides blocking the routes in and out of town. Cell service is very limited. Seems like every direction they turn danger is there waiting on them. Can they outsmart whoever this is? Will their increasing injures allow them to stay on the run? When they finally make connection to the people to get them out of the Rocky Mountain National Park area, will the danger be over? How will disturbing news delivered to Jonah play into things? Will Belle ever get her memory back? Through it all, will their closeness and seeing the other at their best and worse be the beginning of feelings developing?
HUNTING THE WITNESS is definitely a read it all at once book. Kate Angelo keeps the action coming and the adrenaline pumping to where you won’t be able to put it down. You will love the characters! Belinda is a woman that’s been done wrong, loves her job, and believes in happily ever after. Jonah does the job he feels he meant to do, but it means cutting himself off from everyone and everything to do it. He feels that all those he loves die - along with his faith - and believes that he can’t ever be in a relationship again. The author manages to bring two people from completely different lives together while weaving it with a great thread of faith all into one fabulous compelling story. HUNTING THE WITNES is full of danger, action, fearful moments & moments to rejoice, secrets revealed, hope, and for me, reminders of what’s really important – love, family is who you want it to be, the feeling of home and having faith. Definitely a FIVE STAR book that I can highly recommend to everyone!
I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

Disclaimer: I received a copy from the author. This in no way affects my review. All thoughts are my own.
Author Kate Angelo’s words turned up the heat with this thrilling, suspenseful page-turner, Hunting the Witness, from the very first page! Belinda Lewis, a Phycologist, had a breakthrough in her study of algae. After being betrayed and heartbroken by a man who had stolen her research and had seemed to be interested in her, she couldn’t trust just anyone. Believing that she could protect her work in an outdoor setting, instead of in the lab, she continued her research. However, once she is in her outdoor “office”, she witnesses a near-murder and the suspect’s threats are turned her way as she’s attacked. FBI Agent, Jonah Phillips had a lot to lose if he didn’t lay low and avoid crowds while he was away from his undercover work within the Cartel. After hearing a death-defying scream, all his instincts flew into action as he rushed to save the woman. As if I feel the characters’ adrenaline pump throughout the danger they faced, my heart raced while they scrambled together for safety. During each page of the story, it seemed as if a new danger had to be faced. Through all this heart-pumping action, a team was formed to solve the case and prevent more death. Closely holding onto the security of one another while the danger escalates, emotions between Jonah and Belle escalate. However, it becomes apparent that Belle isn’t hunted by one attacker, but two. As the final pages are concluding, the remaining questions begin to be answered, including that of their future. This book was given to me by the Author, Kate Angelo, for my honest opinion. I loved this book and the action was dynamic! I give it 5 stars out of 5!
When Belinda Lewis stopped a serial killer from his last attempt, she became the only witness to see his face. Now he's hunting her. And if not for an undercover FBI Special Agent hiding out nearby, she would now be his latest victim.
Ordered to lay low when his description matches that of a killer, Jonah Phillips just happens to be in the right place to save a woman from a certain death. But the attack left her with no memory of who she is or who left her for dead. Can they stay ahead of a killer who will do anything to protect his identity?
Hunting the Witness takes the reader on an exciting read that continues to add to the suspense as an unexpected twist is thrown into the middle of everything. This is a clean read that doesn't have any graphic anything so the reader can enjoy all of the suspense and tension such books offer while not getting put off by the content. I enjoyed this book and was pleased with how Kate Angelo wove the story together so that the characters had dimension and the story progressed at a good pace without feeling forced.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.
This book has a gritty, high octane plot that will have you turning the pages as fast as you can so you can find out what happens next. This book starts out in a full fledged run and does not stop until the final pages. Belinda Lewis is the sole witness who can identify a killer. After a brutal attack, she has no memory of her name and just snatches of memories and faces. She is saved by FBI special agent Jonah Phillips. He is her only hope for survival, but there is something about his face that makes her very afraid.
Running for your life takes on a new meaning for Belinda and Jonah as they are on the run from a cold and calculating killer. This book was fast paced and full of amped up energy as they run into problems everywhere they turn. There were several surprises along the way that I did not see coming and left me with my mouth wide open. This was a brilliantly written mystery that will suck you in from the first chapter. I look forward to reading more in the Loved Inspired Suspense aisle from Kate Angelo.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
OMS! Romantic Suspense is my favorite genre! Kate Angelo has already mastered the game with her debut Love Inspired novel. Hunting the Witness will leave you breathless, wanting more, and a Happily EVER After. After surviving an attack, Dr Belinda Lewis is left with no memory. She will have to rely on FBI special agent Jonah Phillips who rescued her from her attacker. Now on the run, can they unmask a killer? I say this a lot about books and it is always true. It was a page-turner. I was caught up in this book by the first line. Loving every minute on the run with Jonah and Belinda. I love a good whodunit. That's why romantic suspense is my favorite. I especially love a good faith based whodunit. Kate Angelo is a master storyteller as she adds twists and turns and you won't know what hit you. Of course, no book would be complete with an epilogue. LOL. This one has one too. Yay! I'm hoping and praying for another book. So hop on this ride in the Colorado mountains. You will definitely be left on the edge of your seat the whole time. I was given a copy of this book, but all opinions are my very own.
This story was nearly nonstop action from beginning to end. I loved the great suspense that built all the way through and the mystery that had so many twists and turns that I was definitely surprised at the ending. It’s often hard to make a shorter story as well developed as a full length book but Kate had no problem with that in this story. The ebb and flow of the plot was perfect, with moments of needed answers and elements of faith woven together with a sweet touch of romance. Jonah and Belle were marvelous characters with plenty of flaws that encouraged growth throughout the whole story. And their friends/colleagues added some great advice and challenge to each of them. If you’re a fan of suspense reads, I highly suggest you grab a copy of this book ASAP. It’s a thrill ride you don’t want to miss!!
I received a complimentary ARC of this story from the author. I am not required by anyone to write a positive review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
If you are a fan of romantic suspense, you MUST read Hunting the Witness! Kate Angelo delivers everything I love - suspense, danger, mystery and romance. Belle and Jonah find themselves thrown together, being hunted by the Trailside Strangler. While Belle struggles to regain her memory, Jonah tries to hide his identity as an FBI agent. Both of their lives are in danger as they race against time to catch the killer before he catches them. Non-stop action right from the start kept me on the edge of my seat. I love the characters, the location and the plot which is full of some unexpected twists and turns right to the very end.
This is Kate’s second book and I must say she did not disappoint! I am a fan and cannot wait to see what comes next. .
I received an early copy from the author for review. The comments and opinions expressed are my own.
This was a fantastic book with non-stop action from the start. Phycologist Belinda Lewis interrupted a serial killer attacking a woman, and now the serial killer has found her. FBI agent Jonah Lewis is keeping a low profile due to a mix-up in an undercover operation he was part of when he hears Belinda screaming and comes to her aid. In her struggle with the serial killer, Belinda gets amnesia. The two of them must elude the man who keeps attacking them. I loved the banter between Jonah and Belle/Belinda as well as the unsuspecting twists and turns and a shocking revelation that Jonah discovered regarding his past. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Hunting the witness is fast paced read and keeps your head on a swivel as you feel you're right there with Belinda Lewis as she's attacked by a killer. Luckily FBI agent Jonah Phillips was nearby to rescue her. However, after the attack, Belinda can't remember her name or why she would be attacked, she's lost her memory. She must rely on on a complete stranger, Jonah which is terrifying since she was just attacked. Could he be the killer she wonders. Little does she know that Jonah is in hiding since his description matches the killer. Come along with them as they fight to survive the attempts on their lives and uncover the truth. Lots of twists and turns. Highly recommend. Great read Kate Angelo!
Suspense from start to end. Dr. Belinda Lewis sees the face of a killer. Jonah Phillips, FBI agent, in hiding comes to her rescue. Belinda losses her memory and cannot even remember her name. Jonah thinks she says Belle. So what she becomes. While at Jonah's cabin it is set fire. They escape. Danger seems to follow them on. Stella, a vet, lets them stay at her clinic. The FBI decides to move Belle to a safe house and stop at her house. More danger and another fire. Jonah learns something from his past he never knew and it connects to killer. This is first book I read by this author. Won't be the last.
