I lost the game. Now? I’m going to lose everything else, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.
Sacrificing Damon, who turns my world upside down with a single touch, for my best friend’s happiness is a no-brainer. Protective and determined to make me his, Damon didn’t get the memo. And he’s made it clear that he isn’t going to let me go without a fight.
There’s only one thing that can destroy the happiness I’m beginning to find. It isn’t within the walls of the academy, but behind bars. The secrets I’m keeping are about to come crashing down, and when the dust settles, I’m not sure if there’s going to be anything left of my life worth saving.
Brutal Nights is an enemies-to-lovers, new adult, high school bully romance with plenty of angst, heat, and a HEA. This is the conclusion of Brutal Days, and Skylar and Damon’s duet. This book contains mature content that some readers may find disturbing.

4⭐️ This was a great ending to Sky and Damon’s story! I devoured it in just a few hours! Def going to suss out the rest of the series!
Brutal Nights is my favorite book out of the Hidden Valley Elite Series so far!!!
The story opens right where it left off in the first book with a MAJOR cliffhanger. Now, Damon and Skylar will have to face the consequences of their decisions that not only affect others but affect themselves. Both of them will need to explore their very COMPLICATED feelings for each other.
As expected, there are horrible things done and said to Skylar in the aftermath, and her relationship with her best friend, Gia, is in tatters. I kept hoping that Gia would have a hard look at herself and accept her part in everything that happened. No spoilers here, you will have to find that out yourself. With all the complexities that happened, you would think this would make Damon and Skylar stay away from one another, but it only draws them closer. The two come up with another arrangement because the first one worked out so well, but this one has the potential to really allow them to get to know one another and become a real couple.
There was some angst between them and some back and forth, but all in all, they didn’t push each other away. They actually became friends, of course with benefits, but there were some really tender moments between them when they each let their walls down and trusted the other.
I enjoyed seeing the softer side of Damon and discovered that a lot of the things he did were to protect himself from becoming what he perceived his father to be and that impacted his feelings for Skylar.
“The noose tightened around my throat. If I told her how much I cared about her and thought about her constantly, she would gain too much power. And unequal power in a relationship was a very bad thing–it struck a chord that pointed at what my dad held over my mom.” ~DAMON
I was happy to see that Vaughn delved deeper into his complicated relationship with his father and stepmom. There was some real progress made there. I’m glad that Vaughn included that in the book because it played a huge role in Damon’s character.
Skylar was just a great all-around character. I loved her in the first book, but Vaughn showed a more vulnerable part of her, and she just illustrated how loyal she was, especially in regard to Gia. As with Damon, I saw why she felt like she did towards athletes, but she learned you can’t always lump one group of people together. You have to see them as individuals, not what you label them as.
“Damon was becoming a human being rather than just what he represented–an athlete. The thought alone should have made me run away, but it didn’t.” ~SKYLAR
I have loved every book in this series, but this one is my favorite and a 5-star read!!! Vaughn blended together so many components that make a book so good…angst, spice, a little bit of humor in a dark romance, and real emotion. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Anticipation. Once again, I cannot get enough of the Hidden Valley Elite series. Isla Vaughn’s ability to weave such complex emotions and twists into an effortless story is mind blowing. Book four, the second book in the Brutal duet about Damon and Skylar picks up once again in the same moment the first book ended in. They are coming down from an intimate moment when her mom and Gia are standing in the doorway having caught them. What follows is nothing less than expectation with the fallout between Gia and Sky, fear of a teen pregnancy, and the overwhelming reality that while they try to label it all as fake it’s anything but. All along a greater threat is around the corner, Sky’s dad is set to be released from prison forcing both her and Damon to confront their feelings now or risk never seeing each other again. Damon on the other hand never cared as much as his brother about football and the NFL is more of a maybe for him but Skylar makes him see more beyond football. As everything builds to its climax Sky can no longer handle the guilt and tries to talk to Gia, leaving her with the parting words that “he’s getting out soon and we’ll be gone.” Admitting to Damon she doesn’t want to leave him he does the one thing he never wanted to do. Damon asks his dad for help, sees pictures of what happened when Sky was seven and some of the hatred, he holds for Raelyn is replaced with some respect. He realizes that Sky’s situation is very similar to Riley’s and her moms from the previous year, only no one is there to help Sky and her mom. Finally filling in Cole about everything with Sky, and her dad situation he gets a call from Gia……He’s there. Will Damon make it to Skylar’s in time? Can Skylar and her mom survive and stay safe? Will Skylar and Damon finally get a chance to drop the “fake” from their relationship? This series has truly become my number one go to for an escape from the realities of life. The world, while nothing more than reality, the characters are what keep you drawn in. Over the course of two books the characters both take a journey, growing and becoming well rounded. Leaving you routing for them to come out on top and get their happiness ever after. Once again, knowing that a happy ending is always coming doesn’t take away from the story, it leaves you in anticipation of how they achieve it when everything seems against them, even themselves sometimes. I already have a countdown for the next book in the series, Cruel Start, June 29th, 2023, which is like Cole’s duet with the Savage Start prequel, this book serves as the prequel into Phoenix and Aspen’s duet, book one Cruel Hate, August 31st, 2023.
Brutal Nights is book four of the Hidden Valley Elite set, but it's book two of Damon and Skylar's story. You definitely need to read the first book to their story, but I would personally recommend reading the whole set, in order. There are people and events mentioned that you will have a better understanding of with that knowledge before hand. Book three left off with a HUGE cliffhanger and book four doesn't make you wait long to see the consequences of that encounter. You won't want to put these books down until you know how each one ends! I'm not at all sad to say that I have given up some sleep with the "just one more chapter" line that turned into 4am reading easily. A couple times. LOL. Skylar (aka Sky) only wanted to finish up her senior year, write for the school blog, help out her friend Gia with her senior mission, and to go off to college. When Gia's big mission turns into an undercover blackmail, things get messy for Sky quick. How did things get so crazy so quickly?? Damon (aka D) can't help but like Sky. She's the only girl to ever turn him down. She sets his world on fire and makes him blind to stuff. Blackmailing Sky and fake dating Gia seems like a great idea. Where can he go wrong with that arrangement? He hates Gia though. She talks to much, her perfume bugs him, and she's super clingy. But as things get messy for Sky he doesn't want out of the arrangement. He could care less about Gia except that he wants Sky. Getting caught in a web of lies with Gia, Sky becomes her best friend's enemy and with that more problems. The school is on Gia's side and with that Sky is on the no fly list. D has to put things right with her somehow. With Sky's present crashing around her and her past sneaking up behind her, Sky is crushed by the weight of everything. Danger is coming and she and her mom need to get out of dodge quick! But will they be to late? Will Damon ruin his whole future over two girls? Will he finally settle his own demons? Will Sky stand up for herself? Or will she crumble at her past flashing back into her life and mind? So many things happen and this book will have you on your toes thinking about what might come next! If you like new adult, romance, enemies to lovers, super tense, spicy banter back and forth, and mega drama filled books then you will love this whole set!! It is so good! I have read two sets from this author now and I love them both!! I can not wait to finish this one!! I know that there are more great reads in my future. Grab these books!! You won't be disappointed!!
Brutal Nights picks up exactly where we left Damon and Skylar. This is not a standalone so please read Brutal Days first.
Damon and Sky fall deeper into their own self made trap after getting caught by Gia, Sky's best friend. Now, Damon was never thrilled to be around Gia in the first place, but Sky is distraught over losing her best friend and ready to cut ties with Damon if their bargain is now null and void. Thinking fast Damon comes up with a new plan to keep Sky by his side, something he's still grappling and coming to terms with as the story progresses, but of the two he definitely comes into the feels first, again something he never thought he'd ever admit or want, but even he can admit he's addicted to Sky and it isn't just her body. He likes her friendship, but what he doesn't like is that she is the one to always push him away. While he tries to convince himself that it's for the best, it doesn't work, especially when she tells him that she's leaving.
Sky is so focused on everything else going on in her life, losing her best friend, her mom's stress over her dad's release from prison, etc...that her feelings for Damon are just sort of simmering on the back burner. It's sort of cute that she doesn't realize what's happening as she's spends more time with him, but she's also never given much thought to relationships either so it's no surprise that she doesn't notice the fall. Needless to say that when it's time to actually leave, those back burner feelings suddenly hit her hard, she suddenly realizes that she's fallen for the boy that she didn't even like just a few months prior.
The second half of this duet is hot and heavy, but also intense with everything that is happening in Sky's personal life. This has been a really great duet and somehow I found that I liked Damon more than his older brother. How is that even possible because I really liked Cole and Riley, but now, I'm super curious about their cousins and what they bring to the table because this series just gets better and better.
Skylar knew going anywhere near Damon was a bad idea and could be hazardous for her heart, but with her best friends happiness at stake she knew she had to do it anyway. A deal was made, lines were crossed and now she finds herself on the receiving end of her friends hatred and the whole school thinking things about her that aren't true. She decides staying away from Damon is about the only way she might be able to make amends with her friend... it's the price she has to pay. But Damon has other thoughts on the matter.
Brutal Nights is the captivating and dramatic conclusion to Damon and Skylar's story, a story that definitely should not be missed. These two knew their little secret rendezvous could get them into trouble at some point, but they were blinded by their feelings for one another and didn't seem to care. But when the secret comes to light things completely unravel and nothing could have prepared them for the outcome that followed. It was a disaster that Skylar hoped wouldn't come, but did, and it cost her everything... or did it?
This duet had my attention piqued when I read the synopsis for it, but then once I had the book in my hands, it was a whole other ball game... I fell so deeply into their world that I had a hard time finding my way out. They were a captivating pairing that tortured me with their indecision, made me smile with their sharp tongued barbs, and broke my heart with their emotional trial and tribulations. It's words took a toll, but it was so totally worth it! It was such a well written story, it grabbed me from first glance and never let go, I am still feelings it's effects a few days later. I cannot wait to see what the next installment in this series holds! This series has easily become one of my favorite literary finds this year, with each title that's released the better it gets! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Brutal Nights (Hidden Valley Elite Book 4) by Isla Vaughn - Review by Jessica Stone
Oh man ohhhh man, I LOVE this series, I cannot get enough!!! I could rant and rave about this author and what she has done with this series and it still wouldn't describe it.
First off, holy hell that was steamy, I thought after reading the first three books, no one could top my love for Riley and Cole, their chemistry, love story, the angsty back and forth... but man was I wrong. The chemistry between Damon and Sky is quite frankly, panty melting, this book had me in a literal chokehold. I love the direction the author went with the continuation of the series, there is still a lot of unsolved trauma seeping in for Damon from the previous books. Instead of all the drama revolving around Damon and his father, a-lot of it centered around sky and some issues with bulling from a best friend recently turned enemy. Sprinkle in a dash of family drama from sky to keep you on your feet and you have the makings of a wonderfully told story. I cannot lie, as much as I feel like the author did them all justice I would have enjoyed more cameos from Riley and Cole or even a bit more insight as far as Phoenix and Shane go but also, I'm full of anticipation for the next couple of novels to see what lies in store for the two cousins.
I would, however, not recommend attempting to read any of the books of this series out of order, you will be thoroughly lost and sad when you realize you've spoiled these story's for yourself, this author loves to leave these books as cliffhangers. But I HIGHLY recommend this series to anyone who likes enemy's to lovers, forced proximity, alpha male, young adult type books. Grab the first one and get ready for a wild ride, because this series is fantastic.

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Skylar and Damon have been caught in her bed by her mother and Gia. When Skylar had gone into the living room to talk to Gia, Damon dressed and followed. Gia slapped Skylar and Damon intervened to prevent Gia from slapping her again. Skylar felt horrible that Gia wouldn't talk to her and she was pretty sure Damon didn't talk to her either. The following day, she went to work, Gia entered with her new friends. Gia taunted Skylar with remarks ``I don't know what he saw in you other than a cheap f*ck'' :Bring me a Diet Coke, and don't touch the straw, who knows how many diseases you might have after screwing half the guys in our class." When Skylar exited work, her car tires were flat. Damon picked her up and took her home.
School wasn't any better because there was a group wearing #TeamGia t-shirts. The laughing, rumors, and Gia even being so bold as to shove Skylar in the hallway made life almost unbearable for Skylar. Damon didn't take too kindly Gia's antics and plotted payback. However, Skylar tied his hands because she still cared about Gia. Just when things couldn't be more stressful, Skylar noticed a strange car was appearing down the street from her house and then in the parking lot at her job. Her father was supposed to be released from prison soon. He had gone for almost killing her mother and hurting her. Only Gia knew this secret, but with the turmoil possibly ending their friendship, who could Skylar turn to.
Watching Damon change from being called Demon into someone with more compassion was entertaining. This book has all the witty remarks, justifiable revenge, and steamy scenes for that any romance novel would have. However, realistic elements of possible danger, destroyed friendship, and unpredictable twists are also included. The details are vivid and the alternating view from Damon to Skylar gives this book a full 5 stars. I recommend this series to anybody who likes relatable adult stories.
Brutal Nights is the Fourth Book in the Hidden Valley Elite Series. This book continues with the story of Sky, Gia, and Damon that we met in the third book in the series. If you have not already read it, I recommend that you read it first or you may feel lost. Gia and Sky are best friends, or were, until they were both fighting over the same guy, Damon. Gia wanted Sky to set her up with him, but Sky and Damon instead became attracted to one another. The passion between them has intensified and could no longer be denied, which Gia learns the hard way when she walks in on the two of them. Gia not only becomes angry but chooses to retaliate by bullying Sky and enlisting others to help her carry out her cruelness towards Sky. Sky is devastated over losing her best friend and wants to win her back, so she pushes Damon away. However, Damon realizes that he really likes Sky, enjoys her friendship, and wants to be with her so he is not going without a fight. As the drama between the trio unfolds Sky is terrified that all her secrets will be revealed and that her whole world will collapse in around her.
I was riveted from the first few pages and wanted to see what would become of Sky and Damon. The passion, suspense, danger, intrigue, suspense, and angst are intense as Sky and Damon’s story reaches its conclusion. The characters were well written, and the storyline was attention grabbing, making you want to read until the end to see how things turn out. It was great seeing how much the character of Damon matured through the book and seeing a softer side of him. Gia is such a spoiled, self-centered, self-serving bully that I could not help but want to slap her. I admired Sky’s strength in how she handled not only the bullying by Gia and her friends but also the conflicts as they unfolded. A great read that I highly recommend!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the second book in a duet within the Hidden Valley Elite Series. You cannot read this book as a standalone. You will need to read Brutal Days first or you will be lost. I was so excited to be back with Skylar and Damon. These two were really in a mess when we closed Brutal Days. But we all know that Skylar has basically sacrificed herself for her friend Gia to have the ability to complete the list she had made for each semester of high school. As you can imagine from the way we left her that her world explodes as she knew it. Damon of course is Damon, her mom and Gia are really mad. You would think without Damon that Gia wouldn't have her little popular friends anymore. But she does and they all set out to make sure that Skylar has a rough rough school life. But her mom...something is going on with her mom and she doesn't know what yet. But she will. I so wanted her to smack Gia. To just haul off and throat punch her one good time so she would quit acting like she does toward Gia. If she only had known what Gia had done for her she would have been made at the right person. Herself and maybe Damon a little. But there is more to this story than that. I loved getting to see Damon grow in this book. Skylar was always a little more mature than him and it was great for him to figure some things out for himself and quiet denying and blaming for being quite frankly horrible sometimes. This book was great and one that I did not lay down. I had it finished in a day. I had to know what was going to happen. Now I can't wait to see whose book we get next and the journey they take us on.
I absolutely loved this book! This is the 4th book in the Hidden Valley Elite Series, but it is a part of Damon and Skylar's duet, so you technically don't need to read books 1 & 2, but I recommend it as they interconnect!
The connection and energy between Damon and Skylar is off the charts. I think this second part of the duet is better than the first, but there is less of the bully aspect in part two. Skylar and Damon have just been discovered, and everyone is pissed. Especially Gia. So what will they do? Confess their attraction? Absolutely not, because why on earth would they do something like that? HAHA.
I am heads over heels for Sky. She is an AMAZING person, and friend. My heart absolutely breaks for her in every situation. She gets the short end of the stick every time it seems. Damon grows A LOT in this book, and it is so beautiful and mesmerizing to read as it unfolds in front of you. You get to see deep into both of their minds, and in the end, they both have to ask their selves, what do they truly want? Not only do Damon and Sky have to deal with what they have done behind closed doors, Sky also is battling a horrible situation with her father, that threatens everything in Skys life.
Will their true feelings come to light? If they do, does it even matter or have things gone too far past repair? Will Damon or ANYONE be able to protect Sky from her father? How will this end? In love... or in possible death? Will Damon and Sky stand up for what they truly want, or will they let everyone else's feelings and wants to dictate their future?
I highly recommend this book, duet, and entire series! It is a show stopper! There is plenty of drama, spice, angst, and also pure love.
ARC Review of Brutal Nights by Isla Vaughn * * * * * The second part of Skylar and Damon's steamy affair continues delivering more drama and more delicious content!
They have been discovered! Sky and Damon's little affair and arrangement has been uncovered by Gia and things are about to get nasty. Friendships are thrown out the window, but so are grudges. Damon cannot leave Sky alone. Even if it was all an arrangement for Gia to get her high school senior year dream, Damon does not have to fake or hold back towards Sky. He wants her near. He wants her in is arms. He wants to protect her from the nasty girls at school to the impending doom of an enemy coming back to haunt her. Sky is affecting his game. His rules. His feelings. But will Skylar pull away?
Another smashing romance from this series that has me excited to see who gets their turn next and if it will top this one! Awkward icky moment when they are discovered, but love that Damon did not pull away from Sky. Gia's new found popularity has completely twisted her anyway, so I don't feel particularly sorry for her. The urgency for Sky's family situation brings up the hype and puts the final nail in a few things that reslove a few issues and put in place a new romance which gives you that sweetness you crave a little.
This book took me through it. It is the continuation of Sky and Damon's story and you won't be disappointed with it at all. I love the angst that is Brough forth in this book. It has some amazing character development. I really thought that Damon had growth before but this book makes him turn into something amazing. He digs deep to figure out what he wants and how to get it. He has pure determination to go full steam ahead. Sky is trying to do what she thinks is right and almost makes herself a verbal punching bag for Gia. It is crazy. However, that said, if she didn't do this, I don't think the book would be nearly as good as it was. Yes, I got frustrated because, seriously, she didn't need to be a doormat and stay away from Damon. However, that brought on a layer of tension and angst that I didn't know I needed. The push and pull of these two make this book a page turner. It was such a quick read because I couldn't put it down. It has everything that you have come to expect from this author in her stories, the passion, angst, character growth, being able to keep up with other characters in the earlier books, etc. If you haven't started reading this series yet, you must it is amazing and you will be entertained for hours on end because, you will want to keep reading all the books in the series.
I continue to love this series of the Hidden Valley Elite with my every being....Book 4 with the continuation of Damon and Sky's story...I cannot help but have so much love for these two characters. Plenty of angst, drama, tension, spice and everything oh so nice. I am completely invested in this series, and I do highly recommend reading this series of books in order right from the beginning.
Damon and Sky have this love/hate relationship still stewing between them, especially when the aftermath of the downward spiral friendship between Sky and Gia comes tumbling down. Damon wants to protect Sky from the ugly lies and bullying that Sky is enduring. When Damon and Sky come together in a "fake date" relationship.....will true feelings between them come into play or will someone get hurt at the end? Will Damon be able to even protect Sky from who is coming back for her and her mother with a wicked vengeance?
Highly recommended read.....I loved this story of Damon and Sky and pick up to where what happens next. I love this author's storytelling and I am already anticipating the next book in the series. A true must read.
I feel like this series is a guilty pleasure series for me. I’m almost 40 and I’m sucked into the drama and everything this author is putting on the page. She puts these high school kids through the ringer. Brutal Nights is the duet to Brutal Days and I can say I read and love them both. Damon and Skylar’s story is a whirlwind. You can see the similarities between Cole and Riley’s and Damon and Skylar’s stories. However at the same time I enjoyed Damon and Sky’s story more. Damon is damaged from his mom’s suicide. Skylar is damaged from her abusive father. Typically 2 damaged souls can be the glue to put the other back together. But when 2 people as stubborn as these 2 are fighting the attraction, How’s that possible? Book 4 in the series and book 2 in the duet picks up right where Brutal Days left off. Full of betrayal and true colors coming to the surface. Will Sky and Damon open their eyes to see what’s right in front of them? Will they be the savior the other needs? Time to read and find out. I hope you read Brutal Days first. If not, you must do so before jumping into Brutal Nights.
Isla Vaughn does it again with Brutal Nights (Hidden Valley Elite #4), I could not wait to get my hands on this book, and let me tell you it was so worth the wait!!! I loved continuing the story of Damon and Skylar's romance. These characters are so well written, you just feel like you're right there watching everything unfold, hoping that everything works out. The setting has stayed the same throughout every single book in this series, it's amazing how much I feel like I'm a part of the story. There are so many surprises and twists that I did not see coming, that I was on the edge of my seat most of the time, cheering on Damon and hoping that for once he could get and keep the girl. You do not want to miss this exciting story in this series, it just keeps progressing, bringing back all of the old characters that we know and love from the entire series. I cannot wait to start reading the next book in the series, it's so hard waiting, this series is one of my favorites! It is a must-read for anyone who loves a good high school romance with lots of high-flying emotions and of course the mean girls. @Brandy Rymer 7/2023
OMFG!!! This series. So we pick up where we left off. Sky and Damon have been found out and now must deal with the fallout. Damon doesn’t put up with much from Gia when it comes to hurting Sky. Damon tries to figure out his own feelings. When secrets from the past threaten Sky, her mom’s best answer is to leave. Damon will do just about anything to prevent this from happening including asking his father for help.
There is not a dull moment in this book. From the moment we pick the story up to the moment it ends, the author puts you through all the emotions. Damon finds out why Sky is so reluctant to give up on her friendship with Gia, despite all the drama Gia causes. Sky finally remembers the night she got her scar. So many memories. So many emotions!
This addition to the series does not let you down. As more is revealed about Damon, his father, their relationship, Sky, her mom, Sky and Damon, you realize you are no longer just missing your friends when the book ends. It is more like missing your family. The characters make you feel like you are part of their clan, one of them. This is the best series. Maybe ever. Love it.
The jealousy, games, bitchiness, danger. We continue the saga of Damon/Sky/Gia, the twins. Changed circumstances, new expectations, hotter scenarios.
No spoiling, as per usual. Damon has come a long way though. His inner struggle with his dad will always be there. Will it change? who knows! He still has a dark streak, pent up emotions only Sky can resolve.
Sky - nerdy? Blackmail bought forth a different side to her, yet still loyal to her best friend since primary school. Flight mode also presented itself. Sky’s past became her present - ‘Dad’.
Cryptic?: apologies. As per all reads one needs to make their own opinions. Isla has put forth a continuous series revolving around Uni and the Savage Family so far. Each read delves into the characters. There may be trigger points, you may become emotional, you may also be judgmental about characters but most of all one will enjoy the storyline.
Dare to enter their lives as it will always be a roller coaster. There was no cliffhanger. This appeared as a duet yet it will continue - Hidden Valley Elite series. Uncertain who is next in the storyline.
Brutal nights is the continuation of Damon and Skye's love story. As their secret is discovered by Gia, she ready to poison the school against Skye in retaliation. The only way to help Skye find any peace is to fight fire with fire and show they are in a fake relationship so the scandal will die down. Their fake relationship isn't all that fake for either one of them. Skye's in danger from her abusive father, though, and the clock is ticking before his release. As she and her mom prepare to leave before he's free, Skye must try to make amends with Gia and come to terms with her feelings for Damon.
Damon and Skye really solidified their connection in this book. While there's still steamy scenes, I really enjoyed the emotional connection in this one. It felt like they both really opened up to each other and let their guards down, especially playboy Damon. Damon shows his protective and caring side and Skye finally let's her protective wall down and embraces her feelings. Overall I enjoyed this read and the added danger element for something different.
Oh, Gia. I spent so much of this book angry at her, regardless of her list and her high school dreams of "success". Skylar and Damon have been discovered, and Gia is pissed. She has managed to stay popular despite Damon not being with her, and she uses her newfound popularity to be absolutely awful to Skylar.
Sky has decided the only way to right her wrongs is to stay completely away from Damon and take what Gia dishes out. Damon has no desire to stay away from Skylar at all, and approaches it the way he approaches everything. How will it end for Skylar and Damon? WILL it end, or will they continue to be drawn to one another?
Damon matures greatly in this story, and it was really a pleasure to see. The fight he puts in for things to be the way they should be has him digging deep into what he really wants.
Skylar is making herself miserable, but doesn't want to buckle. She fights Damon as hard as ever, as he fights back. They make jabs at one another, barely restraining their attraction. This was such a good read!
Brutal Nights is the fourth book in the Hidden Valley Elite series by Isla Vaughn. It is a New Adult (High School) bully romance, with plenty of engrossing details, an enemies-to-lovers element, angst, drama, secrets, jealousy, friendship, lies, intrigue, chemistry, steam, emotion, dark games, agendas, danger, and more. This series just gets better with each new instalment, and this conclusion to Damon and Skylar’s story had me in its grip the whole way through. So much has happened, but Ms. Vaughn doesn’t take it easy on them- and toyed with my emotions in the process. As this is the fourth book in the series, and the second part to Skylar and Damon’s story, I highly recommend reading the rest of the series before starting on this book, or at the very least, read Book #3 so you are up to date on their little saga- and can jump into this book without feeling like you have missed something. I am excited to see what “Cruel Start” (Book #5) will hold… Bring it on! Happy Reading…
OK...... Brutal Nights picks right up where Brutal Days left off. Skylar finds herself at odds with the one person that has been her best friend for years. Gia is hurt and lashes out at Skylar the only way a teenager girl can. The turmoil that is brewing between these two girls is adding to the fire that is burning between Sky and Damon. Their "relationship" slips into the real thing unbeknownst to them. Sky is determined to keep it fake and the harder she pushes that "truth" at Damon the harder he pushes for her to realize they are anything but fake. When someone from Sky's past decides to make an appearance Damon and Sky realize that their relationship is anything but fake. This story like the others in this series is well written and flows beautifully. I could not help but find myself immersed with these characters. The push and pull between them. OH and lets not forget the sizzling chemistry. WHEW! Isla Vaughn has quickly become one of my go to authors! Her ability to create a world you can't help but lose yourself is amazing.
This kicks off right at the end of the last one with Gia discovering Damon and Skylar in a rather intimate moment.
Disregarding any crumb of friendship Gia is on the war path to make Skylars life miserable. what's worse is she won't let Damon protect her or retaliate as she feels she deserves the treatment she's getting.
They concoct a plan to have a "fake" relationship so the buzz will die off but boy they both catch feelings real quick and the chemistry continues to build.
Real danger comes a calling from Skylars dad and she will be forced to come clean with her feelings and Damon may just learn how much like his brothers girlfriend Skylar really is...and may even shut down some demons he's been carrying because of it.
Will they make it? Will Skylar stay or will her and her mom run and hide.. can Damon protect her and keep her like he's wanted the entire time... and what of this obnoxious Gia...can her and Skylar kiss and make up?
This was a great book. I highly recommend reading the other books in the series before this one because they all flow together.
This book focuses on the stories of Skylar and Damon. Skylar and Damon have a lot of history together and not all of it has always been pleasant. Damon is a stubborn guy and with his family connections and being one of the top guys at school makes life easier yet harder for him at the same time. He also is used to getting what he wants when he wants it.
Skylar is a girl who has one close friend that has been around most of her life. She would do anything for her friend and her friend's happiness. Even if that means sacrificing her own happiness. She is not an open book and holds a lot of secrets that are slowly going to come to light.
What will happen when Damon is told he can't have what he wants? What happens when the secrets of the past come up to haunt Skylar? Can Skylar make her friend happy and get what she wants as well? Do opposites really attract?
4.5 stars The bullies are back and in fine form in the conclusion of Skylar and Damon’s story. Brutal Nights is a fourth dynamic book in this dark enemies-to-lovers, YA/NA romance book in the Hidden Valley Elite series. I have enjoyed them all and they keep getting better. High school has never looked more different in this romance. Brutal Nights is an intriguing web of lies and deceit, angst and drama, heat and fear, secrets and jealousy. There are a lot of layers and intensity to these characters who are bullies who are rule the Academy. They take what they want, do what they want. The world where the Elite exists is about to come crumbling down around them. He rules on and off the ground. He is but One who plays dark and dangerous games and he wants her. Nothing will stand in his way and if it does beware! Isla Vaughn has come in to her own with this series and it just keeps on getting better and better. I can’t wait for the next book Cruel Start.
Brutal Nights (Hidden Valley Elite Book 4) by Isla Vaughn. This is a amazing close to Damon & Skylar's story. I really believe you need to read their first book to better understand what's going on. When they finally take their relationship to the next level they are caught by Skylar's mom and Gia. Naturally there is a major fallout over it. Gia is so mean to Skylar after this, calling her names, hanging with her other friends and just ignoring Skylar. They even wear #teamGia t-shirts. Its miserable for Skylar. Damon takes up for Skylar as much as he can and turns into a really sweet guy. On top of all her friend/school drama Skylar knows her mom is up to something but she can't figure out what. Damon grows so much in this book and he finally catches up to Skylar maturity wise. Such a wonderful ending to the series and being a young adult series I never dreamed I would be so invested but I sure was. I didn't want it to end.
Brutal Nights by Isla Vaughn is available now in eBook and Physical Book ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Book Review
Brutal Nights is the fourth installment within the Hidden Valley Elite series. Brutal Days ended Damon and Sky’s story on a cliffhanger. Brutal Nights picks up right where we left off to tell the remainder of their story. Full of secrets, lies, and sacrifices this installment puts us through all the emotions. Vaughn is known to write about complex characters, strong alpha males, and fierce women. This installment revolved around each and everyone of those. I loved the characters within this duet. In the first two books I did not like Damon’s character but he has grown on me this time around. I found myself rooting for the two of them the entire way. I can’t wait to see what else this series has to offer. I highly recommend this series to anyone who reads romance and enjoys a little suspense. Don’t waste any time, pick up this series right away!
Brutal Nights: A Dark High School Bully Romance (Hidden Valley Elite Book 4)
I am completely and totally obsessed with this series. There is just something about these brothers and cousins that keep me wanting more.
Damon was the one who I expected to fall kicking and screaming and he did not disappoint. I had no idea how it was going to go after the way the first half of his story left off. I knew it was probably not going to be great for Skylar because as we know the girl is always in the wrong.
There is definitely the teenage/high school drama but there were times I had to remember they were in high school. I definitely didn't have any guys like this back in school.
Skylar was amazing and frustrating at the same time. She wants to help her best friend but at the same time....
I cannot wait to read Phoenix and Shane's stories as well and looking to see how Cole and Damon are doing.
This is the fourth book in the Hidden Valley Elite series and can I just say wow! You don't have to read the first two books and the prequel in order to read this one, but I definitely would, because you get to see more of the characters and their history. That being said, you do need to read Brutal Days as it's the start of Damon and Skylar’s story and what a story it is. I really didn't like the character of Damon until book three and now this one. The way Damon has matured and grown was amazing to watch unfold. I hated seeing what all Sky voluntarily suffered through while trying to avoid the one person that she felt such chemistry with. Will Damon keep pursuing Sky despite her telling him not to? Will her supposed best friend keep hurting her? This was such an amazing story! Isla Vaughn writes realistic characters, who experience drama, angst, jealousy, and real life problems. I can't wait to read even more.
I have read every last one of the Hidden Valley Elite Series and each and every one is better than the last. I cannot recommend reading these enough. This is a series where it helps to read each one in order however. This book continues Damon and Sky’s story. Book 3 left me wanting so much more of their story. This book gives us everything - drama, spice, tension. Isla Vaughn’s story telling is unmatched and her character development is excellent. Each of her characters is flawed but in a realistic way. Damon and Sky have the epitome of a love hate relationship. Its the type of relationship that has you reading each page wondering which way the scale is going to tip. Is it going to end very poorly for them, or are they going to have a fantastic relationship? I am absolutely waiting on pins and needles for the next book in this series.
