All help is gone. Gaea is vicious and brutal. All we can do is fend for ourselves.
There I was, thinking that things were finally going to get a little bit better. I had no idea how, but the System was on humanity’s side, giving us hints and even unlocking a new all-powerful summon for me. Nope.
That System is gone now, replaced by a new one that’s cold and unfeeling.
And to make matters worse, the darkling are stronger than ever before.
The three princes—Nieven, Tigris, and a new monster named Mirugo—are forcing their race to march up the tower at sword point, sacrificing thousands of their own to claim new powers and rewards.
Humanity has no choice but to follow. To survive the next event, I need to climb the Tower of Oblivion as quickly as I can and get my hands on the same kind of power as the darkling.
My name is Devin Cain. Join me and my friends—human, dwergar, and now, even a lone darkling--as we do everything in our power to survive.
The apocalypse has come, and our only choice is to climb or die.
The power scaling in this book is insane and it keeps pushing the power levels up. The main characters are all well written and the interaction with the demi God's makes for a interesting story
The previous book made a big deal about parties and how they are limited to 5. Then with access to another village leader's Union Hub you could gain the ability to make a squad with 3 parties, but the 3 squad leaders couldn't be swapped out. The big deal here being that folks in parties didn't have to worry about friendly fire, got a party chat, and could buff each other easily. This got almost completely ignored this book. Devon is often off with random other folks and they never seem to have any problem with friendly fire, chatting, or buffing each other. The only time this really came up was with when it kept our MC safe from his girlfriend's AoE spells in the final battle.
The author is still having some issues with the writing/sentence structure, but their are fewer instances, most seem to happen during exciting moments, kind of like when someone is really excited they sometimes skip words.
This book opens with Devin showing off Tiamat his latest/final summon to the villagers. Then he finds and defeats a secret boss that the previous 193 folks who found it died to. He gets a pitchfork that deals bonus damage equal to how much land someone owns, giving him the weapon he will ultimately strike down the head Darkling prince.
Speaking of Darklings, we have a defector! Carmilia the Darkling Assault Archon wants to be friends. At first this is okay, but then the system which has been dark (because it was being rebooted for being too nice and helping Parfanel) comes back online and strips her title, and assigns some punishments. Luparia, the demigod for floors 6-10 says they removed her kindness algorithm. The new System has no sarcasm, and does not do bargaining. Devin obtains a secret item, The Fragment of the Demigod. Apparently Parfanel broke out of his containment and this piece that Devin found is now imbued inside him, freeing him from System and Demigod control. He can now break the rules, but he wisely doesn't, as that would reveal something amiss. It helps give him deeper understanding of basically everything. Floors 6-10 are all about personal journey and better understanding your class. For Devin, it is about becoming the Assault Archon and learning force mastery. This is all in preparation for the World Battle with the other 2 races.
There is a "roulette" to decide how the final battle will go down and it turns it into a MOBA event with just the 5 Archons fighting. Humanity deals the final blow to the Darklings, then is asked if they want to keep fighting, but they keep the peace with their allies.

Now I’m over eager to get the next book to see the impacts of this one
Did Parfanel intend for this to happen? Does he have further machinations, or has he been caught up in the whirlwind that seems to be Devin Cain?
I loved that we learned more about the tower and what is going on. Will things get harder for the humans now that the rulers/administrators of the tower seem to be a bit more focused on their bracket?
He needs another round of editing. More than a few spots use the wrong word for what the intent is. In a few places, the same sentence is said multiple times With slightly different phrasing and/or punctuation.
It was interesting but it just falls a part from here on out it looks like the author just plain gave up. Kinda like ok I am done .. Time to wrap it up. Honestly this reminds me of the crappy 2 book series, its both too long and too short.
This book revealed some stuff that I had suspected but the hints now confirm some things. It was really well done and I enjoyed the development. It feels like this is a good set up for the finale, though it felt a little dragging in the middle. I feel like the struggle in this book was not as smooth as the other two books. But it's still a fantastic read. I am eager for the final book!
