Eagle Point Search & Rescue #6

Searching for Heather

Rate this book
She’d lost everything once, and now that she’s found herself, and a man she trusts to be by her side, she refuses to let it all be taken from her a second time.

Ever since hearing about the mysterious woman in the woods who’d rescued his friends, Talon Ross has been intrigued. Who is she? Why is she there? Is she cold? Hungry? Scared? He can’t rest until he’s found her, made sure she’s all right. But when he finally manages to track her down, that difficult task turns out to be the easy part—now he has to earn her trust. The more he gets to know her, the more he wants to know, and the more vital that trust becomes. And there’s an even bigger mystery surrounding the wary redhead, one he wants to solve so she can reclaim her life…possibly with Talon by her side.

Sunset Meadowblossom had known nothing but degradation and fear her entire life, until the fateful day she mustered the strength to escape the only family she’s ever known. Living on her own in the forest is a dream in comparison, until a man she’d previously spied in her woods finds her makeshift home. Talon treats her with care and kindness, which is surprising—and confusing. Sunset’s always been warned away from Fallport and its citizens, but this man is making her want things she never considered…and giving her the courage to claim them.

Sunset soon learns Fallport has secrets—including the fact her name isn’t Sunset at all. It’s Heather…and she’d been stolen from her real life years ago. As a whole new world opens up around her, as Talon and her new friends help her to learn and trust and grow, Heather has no idea someone from her past is lurking, outraged by her disobedience. Waiting to take back what he considers rightfully his. And when he strikes, it’s up to Heather to save herself yet again…and to fight not only for her life, but the love she’s found with Talon.

** Searching for Heather is the sixth book in the Eagle Point Search & Rescue Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

One of my most anticipated reads of the year and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! 😍

My heart broke for our heroine and everything she had been through. I honestly can't even imagine being in that kind of situation. She is so much stronger than she gives herself credit for. The way Talon builds her up and does whatever he has to in order to earn her trust.. 🥹 He is the sweetest man alive. They’re so perfect for each other.

I did not want this to end! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Another hit

I loved, loved, loved this story. The whole Eagle Point series is a winner, but this one is a slow burn story that leaves you feeling truly satisfied.

This is one of the most emotionally charged books I think SS has ever written. I'm very glad the bad guy didn't get much talking time because there was no way a reader wants to hear that twisted thought. Heather is the ultimate person we should all inspire to be. Great story and I love how Tal can be recognized as a man that wants to be a provider. Admitting he appreciates a woman's independence but still wants to take care of her and that she can LET him do it was the best part of this story for me. Due to Heather's circumstances, of course these two are ultimately compatible. Wonderful story and can't wait for the last installment!

e ci risiamo............bellissimo!!!!
cinque stelle meritate

This was a really good read. Heather was kidnapped as a young girl and forced to live in a community and be subservient to men. She hid in the woods as the community moved to Florida and survived by herself for over a year. Talon, one of the guys in the Search and Rescue eventually finds her and helps her acclimate. They fall in love and she's kidnapped again and this time is able to fight back and save herself and the little girl who was kidnapped.
Stocker does a great job with weaving those friendship ties I'm not sure the reader would enjoy the series as much without having read the previous books.

Wonderful story of survival! I loved these two! He is soooo patient and kind with her. I enjoyed his attitude and frankness. She is someone nightmares and hopes are made of. Living the only life she knows and dealing with it until she decides to change things. One act from her and her life goes a different trajectory for the better.

This one took me to places I have never been to before. The action and suspense kept me intrigued but the relationship born between these two kept me engaged.

We get a sneak peak of Chloe’s book and OMG I cant wait!! Not what I was expecting at all! I listened to this on audio. Samantha Brentmoor and John Hartley do an amazing job narrating this one. perfect pick!

I really enjoyed Tal & Heather's story! This was so perfectly told and paced. I love the way Tal approaches her, and the respect he shows. The way his phrasing becomes her mantra, and helps her help others, too, is five stars on its own. 😁

The love these two have for each other is fabulous, the strength Heather displays is amazing, and the steam, when it happens, is respectful of what Heather's been through. I LOVE the way Tal shows Heather her power there.

Excellent suspense, and focus on strength & healing.

The whole story is written so well... And the preview to Raid & Khloe has me even more excited for their story than I already was! 😉

😍😍😍

It's so hard to read this one and not have your heart break for Heather! For what she went through, for the choice she made to "hide", for taking a chance to see/talk to Talon and then go back to where people were.

I loved how Talon's words became a mantra to them both and how later Heather used them to comfort someone else, loved how Talon was so gentle with Heather, almost over explaining what he was doing, why and giving her a chance to tell him no. Once Heather started to learn more it wasn't as needed, but Talon still deferred to Heather, all the while telling her how strong and smart she was.

It was great to see Heather come to terms with what happened to her. Having the support of Talon and the rest of the gang certainly helped! They all were saying the same things Talon told her and just by watching them they reinforced that what she knew was wrong.

While things were dicey at the end, things ended in a great way! I loved how Heather did what she needed to and then just knew that Talon would be there for her. Better was how Talon and Heather were planning their lives together, no threat over their heads.

Searching for Heather😍

Searching for Heather is now my favourite story in the Eagle Point Search and Rescue Series , along with my favourite saying… “You can trust me, I won’t hurt you!”

Talon hears at the end of Searching for Finley about the mysterious woman who jumps out of nowhere to help them. He becomes obsessed with finding her and eventually learns about a girl who went missing from Fallport two decades earlier. He has a plan to find her but after that…🤷‍♀️

A great story which I really enjoyed❣️Can’t wait to find out what secrets Khloe is hiding after that small little intro into one of her secrets🤩

Another amazing story, and another SAR member finding the perfect woman for himself! This was all about trust, trusting who you are, trusting your instincts, trusting your thoughts, trusting your feelings. Heather had so many reasons not to trust, not to open up, but with Talon’s patience and actions, they both come to learn they can rely on each other, and themselves, to get them through anything <3

Loved to know Heather and Talon, her story reminded me of "Say You're sorry" and "Say Goodbye" by Karen Rose, albeit "Searching for Heather" was a lot more condensed. I really enjoyed it. Heather was naturally suspicious of her surroundings, having being delt blow after blow all her life,

Heather was kidnapped as a child and held by a cult. As an adult, she managed to escape the cult, despite not remembering life before them. Talon has been obsessed with find the woman ever since she intervened when some friends were being held at knifepoint in the woods. Not that it’s a work of fine literature, but I loved this story. Talon wanted to help her. Heather didn’t trust him or anyone. It’s a great safe haven themed book. And I absolutely loved the ending. I read the ebook. 5/5

1 Star

I picked this novel because it had an interesting sounding plot and I really liked the cover; however, issues quickly arose. If it had been kept as a story of a traumatized woman overcoming a very difficult past and eventually finding love, acceptance etc., it would have been so much better for me.

Everything (IMHO) happened much too fast. I am not sure, but I think this all happened in a couple of months. Heather assimilation back into society. Her recovery from the cult. The romance between her and Talon. For example, from day one she’s in his home, and his bed! EVERY NIGHT. It does not take long before the relationship is consummated. (Huh?!) The book emphasized that this is all okay because Heather initiates it. So, consent it there. The book references some other abducted women and how they were able to live normal lives and have romantic relationships. It seemed it used those examples to rationale the quick relationship development. Look, things just could have gone A LOT slow--just saying.

Of course, this IS a romance, so you expect the two MCs to get together. I would have just really liked if Heather had gotten to experience this new life separate from Talon at times. She's all up under him. And he is very understanding (we are told over again, he won't hurt her, she can trust him). But he was also (ah what the word? possessive? a bit smothering?) there all the time. The novel portrayed this as good. BUT I would have liked her to fly on her own a bit some.

The year Heather spent in the woods was supposed to suffice as the ‘work’ she needed and gave her a lot of confidence. Yeah, but it just wasn't realistic to believe she could 'heal' all on her own. She did have some counseling. (However, it was ALL done off scene! Really?) And the reader is told (not shown) about a whole bunch of other stuff she experiences. Like her first job. It was told in passing!
Heather is like wonder woman. She adjusts and learns at breakneck speed.

Multiple POVs are given. And something is thrown in later in the book that I am not sure why. Perhaps to wrap things up? I did not add anything for this reader, but...whatever.

I went back and forth on whether to rate this 1 star or 2 stars. Due to the things stated above, it will be a one star review.

CONTENT:
Intimacy: Not Clean. Multiple explicit scenes.
Violence: Yes. Abuse of women and children.
Language: Crude language used, high range.

Sunset Meadowblossom may be strong...

...but Heather Brown is stronger.
They have both been through hell, but they are not a victim, they are resilient and by reclaiming Heather, Sunset begins her journey back into the real world. Again and again she shows her strength, her determination and her grit as she fights her demons, her lack of social skills and her missing knowledge. I love that Tal is her touchstone, her safety and her protector, not because she cannot look after herself, but because Tal wants to show her just how deserving and special she is.
Tal is awesome, no matter how angry and upset he is at the life Sunset was forced to endure, he keeps control of his actions and emotions, he instinctively knows that she needs space, reassurance and to be shown his intentions, not just told. He repeats and reinforces with endless patience and he gains her trust, which he knows is the most valuable thing she could ever give him, he knows and he is in awe of her strength and bravery.
Sunsets story is heartbreaking, her bravery in escaping and the strength she shows throughout her journey to rejoin society is humbling. The men of Eagle Point S & R never fail us, and their women truly are amazing, I cannot wait for Khloe and Raid's book, but I am gutted it will be the last in the series.

What a treat! Another Susan Stoker Romance Suspense novel!

It is always a treat to recieve a new novel from one of my favorite authors. Susan Stoker, storyteller extradonaire, ups the suspense and danger, in the sixth book in her Eagle Point Search and Rescue Series, Searching for Heather.

The hero of this book is the replanted British member of the Eagle Point Search and Rescue team. Still waters run deep in Talon Ross, another member of the SAR team. His background includes a stint in the U.K equivalent of the Navy SEALs. The quiet man of the team, he really needs a woman that will allow him to take care of her and in today's society such a woman would be hard to find. Unless you stumble a woman who survived living alone in the forest for years. Elusive as Bigfoot, Sunset Meadow blossom has survived on her own in the forest around Fallport, Va. Talon recognizes her strength yet with winter approaching his protective instincts are on overdrive. He is determined to find the woman and offer her assistance to survive the harsh winter.

Of all the characters Susan Stoker has created in her series Sunset Meadowblossom is the most complex and intriguing character thus far. From her cameo appearance in book 5 until Talon' s obsessive search for the forest nymph, Susan carefully and deliberately crafts her character. By the time, the set-up chapters are completed, the reader is as hooked on finding her as Talon is!

Let's talk about Talon. Hunky heroes is another Stoker speciality but Talon Ross is a cut above her usual heroes. Not that Talon is as flashy as James Bond. Talon is more reserved than rest of the team,a deep thinker, who loves the peace his soul has craved and found in the great outdoors. I was enthralled from the moment I met him in book 1. Of course, who can resist a tall buff man with an English accent?

Searching for Heather has the most suspense I have experienced thus far in this series. It starts with Tal's relentless search for the mystery woman in the forest and continues to build until the dramatic ending. I was glued to my seat, forgetting everything around me until I read the very last word. The world could have ended while I read and I doubt I would have noticed I was so caught up in this story!

I can always count on Susan Stoker to bring the heat when she writes romance. Yet, the slow burn romance between Talon and Sunset, really amped up the sexual tension. WOW! Even a kiss described by Susan had my heart racing and my skin tingling.

Searching for Heather is a wonderful addition to her the Eagle Point series. I am only sad to realize that with this book Susan is closer to the end of the series. Only Searching for Kloe remains. Having already pre-ordered the book, I can only sit on my hands and wait for book 7. I only hope I can read it slow and savor every word as soon I will be forced to say goodbye to some of my more memorable book friends!

Finding healing and love while discovering who you are

Phew - the feels in this book - laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, and cheering. It packs an emotional punch. The story was expertly written and flawlessly delivered. It included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline. Heather was kidnapped when she was 8 and brought to The Community, a cult, where she suffered isolation, indoctrination, abuse and deprivation. She does not remember her life before and believes her name is Sunset. After 2 decades she escaped and ends up living in the forest around small town Fallsport. Talon is former British special forces who is now a part time barber in Fallsport and also is a member of Eagles Point Search and Rescue based in the town. When a strange woman helps rescue a teammates girlfriend, Talon is obsessed with finding her, eventually believing she is the lost girl Heather. When he finally locates her it is right before a big snowstorm hits the area. Their deeper relationship develops organically and naturally as they spend time together waiting out the storm. I just loved the way Talon gently, lovingly, and beautifully helped Heather come out of the prison of her past trauma and begin to shine even when he knows he might only have her in his life briefly. The story included sweet moments, painful pasts, steamy scenes, supportive family and friends, heart clenches, fun, healing, and love. I love the central theme of found family in this series - that you can create the family you need. Eagles Point Search and Rescue, the men and their families they found, are the embodiment of family and love. I am looking forward to the final book in this series.

In "Searching for Heather," Susan Stoker crafts a compelling narrative that unfolds as a poignant journey of resilience, redemption, and the transformative power of love. The story revolves around Heather, formerly known as Sunset Meadowblossom, who escapes a life of degradation and fear, finding safety and solace in the forest. Talon Ross, intrigued by the mysterious woman who once rescued his friends, becomes determined to not only find her but also earn her trust.

Stoker's storytelling prowess shines as she navigates the complexities of Heather's past and her journey toward reclaiming her life. The characters are vividly portrayed, with Talon's care and kindness offering a beacon of hope to Heather in a world that once betrayed her.

The plot unfolds with suspense and emotional depth. Stoker skillfully weaves a tale of empowerment, self-discovery, and the courage to pursue newfound desires.

The novel delves into the intricacies of trust and growth, with Heather's journey serving as a testament to the strength of the human spirit. The supporting characters add layers to the narrative, creating a sense of community and friendship that becomes integral to Heather's healing.

"Searching for Heather" is a testament to Stoker's ability to create emotionally charged stories that resonate with readers. The book not only explores themes of survival and redemption but also celebrates the transformative power of love in the face of adversity.
I've been eagerly awaiting this book and it was just as great as expected. Loved it.

SEARCHING FOR HEATHER (Eagle Point Search & Rescue book 6) is a darker but exciting story. This series is all good to read by Susan Stoker. A happy ending too!

Talon Ross has been infatuated with the mysterious woman, who'd come out of the woods and saved his two friends, Brock & Finley. She through dirt in the face of a bad character who was threatening Finley with a knife. This gave Finley & Brock enough time to get away and that is what they did. The mystery woman in a brown dress and no shoes, had just disappeared back into the woods. They had searched a long time after the two criminals had been apprehended, for the woman who might need help. It was Talon that's the one man who was not going to give up until he'd found her. It started out with him leaving backpacks of things she might need. He'd left her notes too. Talon couldn't stop thinking, by the description that he had been given, that the woman was the long-lost Heather Brown with red hair. By stubborn determination he finally found the cave where she had been living. She had been a victim of men and never thought she could trust one. But Talon was different and kept saying, “I won't hurt you and you can trust me!” He'd said it often and by his very helpful actions, slowly had started to win her over. He'd just continue to use his words and kind actions to make her understand that her past did not dictate her future. As they say, nothing difficult is ever easy.

SEARCHING FOR HEATHER by SUSAN STOKER 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Searching for Heather is the 6th book in Susan Stoker’s Eagle Point Search & Rescue series.

Sunset Meadowblossom has been living by herself in the woods after escaping a cult where she was degraded, abused & lived in constant fear. Leery of men she would rather stay in the harsh conditions than risk her ‘husband’ finding her again.
Talon Ross is determined to find the mysterious woman who helped save his friends life. A protector by nature and member of Eagle Points Search & Rescue team, Talon can’t bear the thought of this woman being out in the cold, alone, and hungry.
He also suspects that she may be Heather Brown, a girl that was kidnapped twenty years previously. Before he can begin to unravel Sunsets history he needs to find this elusive woman but with her understandable suspicion and reticence it’s not going to be a walk in the park….

This book is Stoker back to her best. Heather’s story is told with compassion, sensitivity and empathy. Heather is not portrayed as a victim but as a survivor. There were some areas where Heather’s inner monologue uses words that I don’t think she would have used- her education was only at 3rd grade and she couldn’t read well. This was frustrating at times but on the whole Stoker describes her innocence and progression well and Talon’s encouragement and support of Heather perfectly.

On the whole I really liked this book.

Searching for Heather is the sixth book in the Eagle Point Search & Rescue Book series by Susan Stoker.
Sunset Meadowblossom has lived a life of service and misery in the Community. At a young age she was trained to be the perfect Community wife. When the Community left for Florida, Sunset Meadowblossom hid from them, it was her only chance for escape. Sunset has lived in the woods by herself for a year when she steps in to help one of the men from Eagle Point Search & Rescue keep his woman safe. When Talon hears about this amazing woman who helped his friends he is concerned for her wellbeing. She was in the forest alone during winter with little clothing and no shoes or socks. Talon is determined to help her and he starts by leaving packages for her in the forest with supplies while he searches for her. Talon is a protector and all he wants to do is protect her and keep her safe. There is a chance this woman is Heather Brown an eight year old girl who was kidnapped 20 years ago from Fallport. Will Talon be able to find her and keep her safe? Once words gets out that Heather Brown has been found alive after 20 years will the Community come back for her? I loved this book. Susan Stoker does it again, this is an amazing story with wonderful characters.

Brilliant

Meet the WAR team Eagle Point and rescue team for Fallport Virginia.
Ethan, Rocky, Drew, Brock, Raiden, Talon the whole team bring their own unique style and expertise when doing their best in rescuing the missing, vulnerable people that get lost in the forest.

Meet Talon Ross ex Military solider Special boat Service and after a mission that literal sense when side ways Talon left and took a spot with Ethan and the team in Fallport. In the days they are not searching they all have jobs and Talon is working in the local barber shop partime. After Brock and Finely incident Talon couldn't stop thinking about a the woman that saved Brock and Finely live in the woods . And remember ing the description Brock used went shivers down his spine and wanted to help.

Meet Sunset Meadowblossom lived in The community shielded against the world and deep down Sunset knew something about all this is wrong and keeps having flash backs . So when the opportunity arose she escaped and lived Inn the woods until a stranger finds her. The mantra "I can trust you and you won't hurt me" over and over again until the day she finally found new life.

Thoroughly enjoyed highly recommended dream great series so far

"Searching for Heather" is the sixth book in the Eagle Point Search & Rescue series, and I can honestly say this is my favorite book in the series so far, but also one of my favorites from Susan Stoker!
Sunset Meadowblossom appeared in one of the previous books in this series, but no one knew who she was or where she came from. Talon Ross sets out to find where she is and why, after all she did rescue his friends in the woods. Talon takes it slowly when he finds out where the woman is, he doesn't want to scare her. Time goes by before he finally approaches her, but on her terms not his.
Sunset has a lot to learn about life, her's has been anything but normal for twenty years. When Talon finally wins her trust enough to take her back to Fallport with him, she finds out that even her name is a lie, her real name is Heather.
This review doesn't do justice to this book, but I don't think that is possible. I highly recommend reading this book if you are a lover of romantic suspense. No wimpy heroines in this one, not that any of Susan's books ever had one. But Heather learns just how strong she is, when the only choice she has is being strong!!

Book 6 in the EAGLE POINT SEARCH AND RESCUE series centers around British SAR Team member, Talon, and his search for the illusive woman who he’s discovered lives in the Forrest. Is she the long lost child, now grown, who was kidnapped by a cult 20 years ago? Does she need help or is she going to continue to allude Talon’s search? This story had me hooked immediately.

The narrators are two of my favorites and perfectly deliver the story.

“𝐼’𝓂 𝓃𝑜𝓉 𝑔𝑜𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒽𝓊𝓇𝓉 𝓎𝑜𝓊. 𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝒸𝒶𝓃 𝓉𝓇𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝓂𝑒.”

Tal keeps repeating this to Sunset (Heather) to get her to let him help her. To trust him. This is a heart wrenching story for sure. Heather has spent years in a cult, living in the forest, emotionally and physically abused. Her need to be strong to overcome the years of abuse is absolutely gut wrenching and Talon’s determination to help her, to care for her is heart melting.

These two. My heavens they are just EVERYTHING and their slowly evolving romantic relationship really tugs at your heart strings. Talon is the ultimate protector. And yes, Heather ultimately trusts him with not only her body but with her heart.

Although I understood the need for this in the story, I was glad I wasn't playing a drinking game. If I had a drink for every time I heard, "You can trust me. I'm not going to hurt you.". I would not have been able to finish listening to the audiobook.

It turned out to be a very important statement, especially later in the book. It just became a little tedious at the beginning. I did like how gentle and patient Talon was with Heather as he worked to gain her trust. Also the way he encouraged and supported Heather as her confidence grew.

I did like the characters. I liked how they all came to embrace and support Heather. I enjoyed the journey Heather took as her confidence grew. I also appreciated the underlying tension while waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The way Heather handled the situation with the bad guy was icing on the cake. Heather's experience was horrible. The idea of what the future held for someone else was terrifying. I really liked the way the ending came together.

I do have one question. Will Simon, the police chief get a book? Or did I miss a Simon book? Guess that's 2 questions. Lol.

Very emotional book but I loved it.

Talon never gave up searching for the woman in the woods that help his friends. Little did he know it was someone who was kidnapped from Fall port twenty years ago when she was eight years old. Heather was raised in a cult just outside of Fall port and always knew something was wrong with the way women and girls were treated by all the men and even boys. But she finally escapes and lives in a cave until Talon finally finds her. He stays and earns her trust by showing her by his actions that she can trust him. What can I say? Susan Stoker consistently pens stellar tales. They're gripping, emotionally charged and uplifting with just the right mix of suspense, intrigue, danger and romance added in. In the case of Searching for Heather, Ms Stoker really created a remarkable character in Heather. Talk about strong, resilient, determined and smart, Heather Brown escaped a living nightmare of existence after being kidnapped twenty years ago. I was utterly fascinated by her. Talon Ross may have experienced the worst horrors of war but the man is so empathetic, nurturing, understanding and patient. His curiosity about the woman who helped save Brock and finley turns to an obsession. He's determined to find her, get to know her and rescue her from her harsh life in the forest. His mantra to her...you can trust me, I won't hurt you. He proves it with every word, deed and thought. Of course, the past comes calling but Heather is no longer a victim and she ably proves it. This was just an all around extraordinary reading experience!
