Bungie presents the Destiny Grimoire Anthology Vol V: Legions Adrift, a must-have collectible lore compendium designed and assembled for Destiny’s devoted and enlightened scholars and lore lovers, as well as fans of fantasy and science fiction storytelling.
Destiny Grimoire Anthology, Volume V: Legions Adrift is a curated look at the history of one of humanity's greatest enemies, and now perhaps, potential allies: the Cabal.
These stories follow an ancient empire through a time of great change--from the hedonism of Emperor Calus to the ambition of Dominus Ghaul to the vision of Empress Caiatl. What does it mean to be Cabal--to eat the mountains and drink the seas? And with their homeworld lost, what will the Cabal become?Includes a download code printed on card. Until now, the myths, mysteries, and machinations of the Destiny universe were found hidden throughout the worlds – enticing threads that hinted at a greater tapestry. The Destiny Grimoire Anthology weaves tales from multiple sources together for the first time, casting new light on Destiny’s most legendary heroes, infamous villains, and their greatest moments of triumph and tragedy.
“Whether we wanted it or not…” You will be deeply missed Commander. Another fantastic lore collection by Bungie, unintentionally timed to help ease the heavy loss of Lance Reddick.
Definitely better attention to detail and story telling than IV was. I had concerns that the quality of these Grimoires was going to drop but having read V I have confidence again. Stories of the Cabal and Caiatl are some of my favorite parts of destiny.
Starts off a bit light on content but then dives into the Chronicon (the legendary Calus fanfiction), some character study of Calus (Match's perspective is wonderful), Caitl's upbringing, and then her entrance to Sol. Some really nice writing in this one, though the rich lore behind Calus makes me kind of sad for how things have turned out in Lightfall.
Excellent entry - Bungo, please keep delivering these for us lore obsessed nerds 🙏
PS: Bonus points for clawing a laugh out of me for the opening page. I should have known...whether I wanted it or not...
This volume has two excellent lore books (Match being the highlight), the best 10 pages of recent Destiny seasons on the Cabal, and then a ton of padding. Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into Destiny 1 enemy lore, one per page, with basically no information. There just wasn't enough lore to do the book justice, and they should have gone into a little more depth on the stuff they do have instead.
