After reading the first books in the series I was left annoyed with simple things see my review on that book separately, safe to say I had the same issues with this book! Why all of a sudden does it take 10 minutes to get to everywhere and why is there mor mixes of different mythology origins, stick to Roman stick to Greek or stick to Norse the more I read, the more I got annoyed! Yes I know this is the authors take on gods/goddesses, they are clearly inspired by the history of mythology but they need to decide are they making up my own versions of these gods or are they sticking to what history teaches us because if flips between the two and it’s frustrating.

My biggest annoyance in this book is the misinterpretation of Medusa.

History teaches us that Medusa was a beautiful maiden who Poseidon lusted after and forced himself on her and Athena cursed her into the “monster” she became so no other man could look at her again, yet in this book she’s seen and a mysterious magical enchantress, with powers and hair made of snake bodies with wolf heads… I don’t even know if I read that right 🤷🏼‍♀️

The author needs to decide is Ares a wolf with the personas of the god of war or he is the god of war. Because he flips between the two. Mars/Ares the gods of war and courage wouldn’t fear anything he’s the ultimate soldier the applicable meaning of battle surly he’s the best fighter surely he’s the best battle strategic planner, he doesn’t seem very involved in training he leaves it to marcel which is fitting when reading shifter books because there is always a head warrior that would usually take the charge of training the pack on behalf of the alpha, but if he is the god of war and not the persona wouldn’t the god of war be more involved. Even in fight scenes he seems to get over powered and hounds get to actually land hits on him, he can literally rip a man in half in human form then he retreats out of the fight, so when I read the book I read that when he’s fighting in wolf form he’s more the persona of the god, yet when he’s a man he is written as the god of war having his memories and ability’s of strength for example when man is looking for his cat with Aurora Ares can easily throw him around like a rag doll against a tree and make it crack, obviously ruled by jealousy at that point I know, but is this man/wolf the god of war or not? Can he only turn into the god when he’s jealous and in human form and only not when he’s a wolf and the life of his pack/mate/family rests with him?

After reading the rest of the books I think there is very basic background knowledge that really could have been expanded, this book could have laid the out the information and set the path especially for dawn/aurora history, giving that bit of background and explanation to the reader would have made this book flow so much better, and if that was done some of this story could have moved into the third book which in my opinion is the worst book in the series.

Again if you get past those points you’ll like it 🙂

This story picks up right after the end of book 1, which is great considering the cliffhanger that was left on.

The story is now starting to build, showing more character from Greek mythology…which finally explains the name of the series. So we have Medusa, Greek gods and goddesses, and the underworld. But Medusa with her hair having wolf heads instead of that of snakes definitely gets a thumbs up from me.

I feel like we got some answers to questions, like why Fenris targeted Ares mother and what happened to Liam after Marcel beat him for cheating on Charlotte. But it definitely left me with more questions, like is Mars really gone? who is Aurora? Why are the people of Greek myth helping her? It’s clear they know her, and she is probably reincarnated since they called her Dawn and that Greek god (I’m assuming Apollo) seemed like he loved her. All of which I’m sure the rest of the series will answer in time.

Emilia Rose is known for writing smut, but this is the first series I’m reading from her, and it has me fascinated! I have always loved Greek mythology, and love the way she’s building the characters and showing different sides to them. Such as how Ares is just as broken as Mars, how Aurora thinks she’s broken yet fights like a warrior, Marcel been a womaniser yet only truly has eyes for Charlotte and will do anything or her. Can’t wait to see if the rest of the series develops.

I started losing interest in this story.
The way a lot of this was written made it seem immature. Somethings were just being forced or not written in a way that I enjoyed. It was like the author was trying to hard to make me believe certain things. Like with the cat. They treated the cat like a person - and how Aurora was like the cat was trying to take her man - and stuff like that. Just the way it was written was just off and it happened with more than just the cat scenes.

The author is over explaining things in their conversation making the story just not believable. When I read books with this certain writing style, it gets really hard for me to explain why I don't like it. Its hard to put into words

I finished the book but I am not planning on finishing the series.

im eating this series up. it's fucking amazing. the mix of romance and mythology and paranormal stuff is just 😩

the plot, romance, smut and story was 10× better than the previous book. the twists were so exciting. the Medusa part was so perfectly written.

im crying because I'll never have someone love me the way Ares and Mars love Aurora. there were so many emotions and tears istg. the ending was so painful.

im not ready for this series to finish but im excited for the third book. LESSGO

What a ride!!! This book had me laughing and on the edges of my seat.
With how book one ended, I jumped right into book two as i needed to know what happened.
these characters have me in a chokehold and i am loving the growth that is happening on the pages.

I love the mix of modern-day paranormal mixed with greek mythology. This series has such a unique spin and i am just loving it.

I don't want to spoil too much, but WOW.

Now onto book 3.

A Gotcha!

This book was a great read, characters well developed, storyline clear and unbroken. I have a Kindle Unlimited subscription for a reason and this series exploits that. The first two books are Kindle Unlimited but the last two aren't. Sorta defeats the purpose of my subscription. I wish there were a way to know upfront. I will NOT be reading anymore of these type books. It's an incomplete series for many.

emotional roller coaster

It took me a minute to not get bored as Ares character flaws irritated me personally. As I kept coming back it would get tired with his hot cold, but in the big battle it sky rocketed and then choked me up and took my breath away. I am sure there will be some big suprises in the next book.

DNF. I loved the first book but this one just wasn't fun to read anymore. The storyline just wasn't it for me. In my opinion, the first book should've been a standalone and ended with a HEA. It feels like the author just wanted to drag this story on. I was very disappointed because I couldn't put down the first book and this book was very underwhelming.

this book comes with a trigger warning and if you have those mental triggers I would suggest not reading. This book is the second book in the series. Just when you think you know what will happen there are surprises awaiting.

Catch Me, Alpha is book two in the god of war series and starts where it’s left off in the cliffhanger from book one. I have many thoughts that I DO NOT WANT TO SPOIL but we learn more from Ares and Mars past and a lot more information that honestly I loved how the author wrote it with a bit a less spicy scenes and MORE steamy scenes that it was perfect bc after reading book one , I was more interested in the character building and that’s what I got.

I was absolutely upset with the ending that I cried a bit because I fell HARD for EACH CHARACTER . AND UGGGHHH RUFFLES, ruffles is Aurora‘s cat and I absolutely freaking LOVED her as a character and it was so funny and cute with how the author wrote her!! 🐈🐺

Again the only thing stopping me from rating it a five stars is the DAMN CLIFFHANGER and A CERTAIN CHARACTER that I don’t want to spoil because each character had my heart from the beginning and it was 😭😭

I liked the first volume, but the second one became very boring to read and I couldn't resist until the end.
I like the idea of Ares and Mars, but there's a lot of stuff in the book and a lot of information that makes it annoying. Everyone apparently has a dead mother, I didn't understand anything about the whole idea of the necroman and the sex scenes are repetitive.
And for someone who's disgusted with the "breeding kink" they're not very pleasant.
