Nowhere as good as the first novel which was exceptional.

This book was slow, boring and didn't come across as plausible. Gone was the byzantine plot and complex charcaterization of the first novel.

Very average, perhaps below average espionage novel.

intensely great reading!

Russian Infrastructura is in turmoil. They’ve been very, very naughty and her Sons and Daughters are tearing each other apart in the throes of power games. Those more equal than others are at war with each other!

The fat deputy who is oh so bitter for the most trivial of reasons is doing everything he can to discredit his boss. All of the other cast members each have their own agendas & as usual, the peasants count for nothing!

This is top quality writing. The whole thing is so well done, every angle covered with perfection. I cannot recommend it highly enough and, keep an eye out for the ‘man who can’ with the ‘Red Seal!’.

Plenty of tension, some really wicked characters too. Though lost my way nearing the end of the book of the authors writing ability there is no doubt as the previous books the the trilogy show research seems good though I know nothing about the KGB but it sounds knowledgeable. have now read the last in the series so it all makes sense. Then good prevails over all at the end, as after all the general wasn't the nicest of people.
