Roadside Geology Series #13

Roadside Geology of New Mexico

Rate this book
The "Land of Enchantment," New Mexico is as varied in its scenery as its nickname suggests. With desert lowlands in the south and high, hoary peaks in the north, with rugged volcanic uplands and colorful plateaus, with high plains along its eastern border, and with a great rift valley that quite literally slashes the state in two, New Mexico presents many faces to its residents and visitors. Faces that in large part can be laid at the doorstep of the state's varied geology.

Great book to have on a driving vacation through New Mexico. I would read about the area we were driving through, look out the window and there would be the site. I would have missed a lot of neat things if I hadn't had the book with me.

Great book to have on a driving vacation through New Mexico. I think the content was appropriate for a wide audience of people interested in geology, regardless of their technical background.

Don't leave home without it. If you live in New Mexico that is. I do, and I don't. If you see me pulled over on the side of the road, I am probably checking out some rocks and trying to identify the formations. This is a must have if you are like me while driving along and suddenly point to a mesa or plateau and say "how did that happen?"

We'll see how accurate the book is in a few weeks when I travel to New Mexico, but in general I found the diagrams and maps to be very informative. I think the content was appropriate for a wide audience of people interested in geology, regardless of their technical background. Glossary is very helpful too.
