Maggie Hollister is looking for her husband for Christmas. She doesn't need him for herself, she wants him for her daughter, Holly. The young child wants a daddy for Christmas. To that end, Maggie has hired a retired Texas Ranger, Captain Matt Weston.

Rafe Hollister was a petty thief when Maggie met him years ago while hiding in her family's barn and tending to his wounds. When he found out Maggie was going to have a baby, he told her he'd meet her in Prescott, AZ. Maggie moved to Prescott because she had relatives there who would help her. This is 1881 and things are hard for women alone with dependents. Well, Holly is 6 now and she's wanting a daddy.

There are lots of elements of comedy (what Sharon Ihle is known for), pathos, and wild errors in judgment. This is one of those books that keep the reader turning pages because everything you know -- ain't necessarily the truth. From ditzy Hattie to overdone Peggy, every character is unique. This story is wildly inventive. Enjoy.
