I found this book magically, under a pile of old books, on the floor of a thrift shop. I paid 10 cents for it, but it is worth 10 times that. It is a book easy to read. In fact, I read it in 30 minutes. It is filled with quotes, some signed, and some from unknown authors. I started to put these quotes on my Facebook page. I know... you thought I was making these quotes up but... nope... I am only copying them from the book. On the back cover of the book, there is a quote which is signed by: David Viscott. It does not mean that he is the author of the book. In fact, on the front cover of the book, there is NO author's name. ONE... Copyright in 2009 and contributions from many, many, many people.

The whole time I read this book all I could think of was "what could this book proposal possibly have said?" I cannot imagine reading this without finding it cloying.

I needed a boost of inspiration. The quotes and motivational linguistics really give something to your mind and soul. Today was a rough day and this brought a little light into my day.

One star for having a useful story to tell in my Intro Sociology class. This poorly collected book of quotes and feel-good stories contradicts itself and made me nauseous. You have a purpose in life! But wait, you are also born as an accident of fate! Lame.

I'm using "One: How Many People Does It Take to Make a Difference?" as a workbook for the program I support. This is a great inspirational book that is full of stories and quotes, as well as some pages that require readers to do some reflection and answer questions about what they value and hope to accomplish. I think this is a great book for any college student, especially those who are unsure about what they want to do or that believe that they will not have a large impact in the world.

The 1 Book is the first in a series of self-help books, encouraging you to embrace your true self, highlighting that being authentic is a success in its own right.

If you're in the middle of an existential crisis and worrying about your purpose in this life, pick up this book. It exemplifies how each individual has a unique purpose and the potential to positively impact the world and those in it.

With compelling motivational quotes, stories, and facts leading the way, this book is sure to empower and leave a lasting impression.

However, if you're someone looking for well thought out structure and reasoning when it comes to layout, then this book may not be for you. In essence, this book conveys a vibe similar to that of a motivational social media page. Not to everyone's taste, but enjoyable for a quick read!

Nice point - makes you (re)start to think. Though you do not find and read any new information. You can read it really quickly, faster than a magazine. A quick wake up for your thoughts and feelings.

If you are at a point where you don't know what do do with your life, or if you need inspiration to do the little things it takes to change the world, you need to consider this book.

"If everyone in the U.S. reused a paper grocery bag, even for just one shopping trip this year, we'd save millions of trees."

"If everyone recycled just one additional plastic bottle this year, we'd reduce the plastic in our landfills by 200 million pounds."

"If each of us simply kept our tires properly inflated this year, nationwide gasoline use would drop by millions of barrels."

"If every American home replaced just one old-style light bulb with a compact fluorescent bulb, that would be like taking a million cars off the road for a year."

"If every American payed his or her bills online instead of by mail, we'd save 16.5 million trees and eliminate the equivalent of 56,000 garbage trucks full of solid waste."

"If each of us simply turned out water heaters down to 120 degrees F, we would prevent millions of tons of CO2 emissions per year."

"If each of us simply reduced our computer default margin to .75" on all sides of our documents, we would save 6 million trees and eliminate 1.5 billion pounds of greenhouse hard per year."

The power of one is incredible and this book makes it shockingly clear.

Need to take some time out to refuel and be inspired? Grab a cup of coffee and flip through this book. There are some worksheets that you can fill out as you try to discover what exactly it is that YOU can (and want to) do in order to make a difference. And the pages are peppered with quotes and stories from those that have made a difference in the world - Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King Jr. to name a few. I have a few other Dan Zadra books that I keep for when my mojo is feeling low and I want to achieve that state of go-getter and director of my own life. Recommend this also as a gift for anyone who might be struggling to figure out their place in the world.

Rich with inspiring text and visually indulgent design, this little book can have a big impact. From the first page, it engages us on a spectrum of levels. Do you know why you are here, living this life? Are you awake to the world and how you can live better, serve more, make a difference? What is your true essence? How can you change? Explore this book with an open mind and heart and you will feel motivated to open up to your purpose and the gifts you have to offer.

This book would make a great gift. It's intended to inspire the reader into selfless action. Simple and inspiring...my favorite quote: May God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference in the world, so that you will do the things which others tell you cannot be done. You have great days still ahead of you. May there be many of them. -- Unknown.

Really inspiring. One of those books you can read if you're feeling stressed, or depressed, or if you want to reflect on your life or something like that. As cheesy as it sounds, the book is actually not boring and it contains a lot of great short stories. :)

3.5 - Lots of quotes and stories to inspire the reader into action. The book is short and reads like a bunch of inspirational memes, and because there are no divisions or categories, it all sort of runs together like scrolling through your friend's Tumblr.
